Like it's already been said, it's the lack of new players joining in on Grimdal. Once they get ganked by an end-gamer once, they're going to reroll onto a PvE server. This is why bracket-pvping is a must. 1-19,20-39,40-59,60+... as an example.

No , Grim does not need noobs.... It has more than enought endgame characters in it. Problems is they have all quit due to Frogster/RoM's lack of commitment to the customers

lol, this is like the thread that wont die. it seems every month some noob posts the same friggin thread asking the same question. yes, its a lil slow, its slow across all servers atm as a few new games have come out and a lot of people are experimenting with those new games. many are trying to find a replacement for rom because it has become soooo expensive to do anything other than farm daily items and minigame stats. some will be back. some will not. but the pvp servers have always been the least populated. soooo, maybe try pve server and qq less.

No new players and with old players quitting, the population will only go down. Therefore, those "noobs" are actually needed.

5 ppl max a day online in a server is a dead server. Should just shut grimdal down kill the server, and tell us we are screwed sry for ur luck we dont care cuz u dont own anything on ur chars. OR provide a transfer ticket purchase, server merge, or some sort of fix. 5 ppl online at one time on a server will never get anywhere.

I personally would pay for a way to transfer my toon. Being who i am with the toon i got on the server as dead as Grimdal is pointless on a server with a population of Grimdal. I would love to come over to the pve side and teach u guys how to really dps =).

I don't think Indigo needs a merge.. I have never played on PVE servers but we seem to have a decent population. I have no problems finding raid groups and trading.

We sieged a grimdal guild over the weekend, and they had almost 20 people in siege.

Granted it does not change the obvious fact that this PVP server (and even Indigo in my personal opinion) are painfully underpopulated.

While I agree with this post I doubt any server merge will take place as the "powers that be" have stated such things are not currently possible.

But again IMO, the current condition of these two servers would justify a cost analysis for making this possible at the very least.

As a Grimdal end-gamer. We quit not because we do not enjoy RoM. It is because the mid-tier players are too stupid to get past the simplest strats in a boss right.

Players are too use to burning and refuse to try any other method.

That is why we quit ... we are tired of carrying people like you.

Im with sekrit on this only a select few ppl i enjoy running with, cuz i dont have to hold there hand for the whole party. But big problem is population and the lack of ppl to help the new ppl. Without a population we cant help the newer players that get stuck and quit.

From what I remember, Swag (old CM) said that they are (or were) working on a technology that enabled them to switch player's servers, but they weren't able to at the time.

So a server merge would probably mean some kind of characters being swapped between servers, so this technology would have to be completed first.

Arrogant as ever. Happy you quit. You talk as if you and the handfull of others who got to endgame status by spending thousands of dollars on this game OWN the game. I hope the door hit you on your way out.

Although this is PARTLY true, people who sign on to a PVP server have to expect this? froggie already dumbed down PVP servers by making whites not drop, what more? No,no,no,no,no bracketing is a horrible idea for world pvp.

Quoted from "MegaMouseSEC;531517"

I wasn't even gonna post here but I will now after reading some of the comments. The main reason that PvP servers die (and not just in RoM) is this, no new player likes to be constantly PKed by someone 10 times his/her level. New players make a toon on a PvP server get owned then say Screw that, and move to a PVE server. I hate to say it but the population of most PvP servers force new players to look elsewhere.

Merging will improve the immediate population, but I don't know how viable it will be over the long term. As others have said, the reason people quit pvp servers is because they get ganked to death at early stages of the game. A server merge will not change this.

In a merge, how do you hanndle people who have the same name? Whose name gets changed? It there is a Baxter on Grimdal and a Baxter in Indigo, one of those two is NOT going to want their name changed.

Quoted from "Clancy2232;531457"

Have you noticed how UNpopulated the two PVP servers are? Here's an idea merge the two so there can be less bitching about how unpopulated they are. Would be Bongo of you Frogster!

Server merge will only solve immediate population problem. As has been stated, the major reason people flee PVP servers is because they get ganked to death at low levels, say ***** this ****** , and move on to a PVE server where they can level in peace. Merging the servers will not change that fact. Granted, I am one of the people who gank new players. This has to be expected when you sign on to a PVP server. PVP is niche, which is why we have such a low pop compared to, say, Artemis. Also, D3 just came out and Grimdal HAS taken a hit because of that, though it will probably be temporary. When CH5 comes out and froggie posts web adds all over the place I suspect there will be a small revival on he pvp servers, but again it probably won't last. This truly is a paradox. We want more population but kill the new population and wonder why the server pop is so low. hmmm. We have only ourselves to blame.

Quoted from "fabyana;531482"

Grimdal need help! The server is dying every moment. FROGSTER, what are you doing to to stop it?We expect an answer!!! RESPECTS THE FEW PLAYERS WHO ARE STILL HERE!

All 5 times I have tried to get into PvP servers, I end up being spam killed by much higher level players to where I just give up and say screw it. I like PvP so I HAVE tried, but you aren't really able to get a foothold there as a new player.

The same way every single other game handles it. You act like no game has ever done a server merge before.

@ topic - They probably haven't finished developing whatever tool it is they need to do server transfers, let alone server merges. I'd say they're probably not experienced enough to handle merging a server at all, considering what happened when they moved all the servers to a different location. And in all honesty, it's probably better for them not to attempt a merge, and keep all data intact, than to attempt one before they even fully know how, and end up corrupting most of the data from both servers.

And yes, the reason the PvP servers are dead (and have had a much lower population than other servers, as long as I can remember) is probably the same reason PvP built this way dies out in other games. It is ridiculously easy to create twinks in this game. The same type of system in Aion was the reason they implemented buffs that killed all open-world PvP, and honestly, short of ruining open-world PvP in a similar manner, there's no way to make it fair to new players with the current system. Put a level cap on it, and you'll still have 10k hp level 30s ganking first-time level 30s with 2k hp. Some people just need to make themselves feel better by "winning" against people that can't fight back. It's the PvP server design that's at fault here, because it allows this type of behavior.

I would like to add this: Maybe just MAYBE Frogster could stick a system that makes anyone under say LvL 40 unable to do PvP at all (well except for siege). I do know that at this moment you have to be level 20 (or is it lower I actually forget) before you can participate in PvP. But beign from a PVE server I am unsure.
Raising the minimum level would be a good idea in that it would give players a bit of breathing room to learn their class better and get some skills to defend themselves. Just an idea guys don't get all hurt over it.

As far as the names goes here is how Bliz handles it: The higher level toon always keeps its name, the one that ahs been around longest always keeps its name, and 90% of the time the one paying for the move is the one that changes their name. If there is a forced server merge then I would say that the one that ahs been around the longest should keep their name and the other should change.

That is why I am proposing level brackets =)
Except obviously, it doesn't seem like Frogster is reading my posts. Want new players to start joining PvP servers? Then install PvP brackets. (1-19,20-39,etc). The pre-level 15 no PKing is useless. People surpass 15 in the matter of minutes nowadays.

OP,

Honestly, I don't see this ever happening. Threads on this topic have popped up time and time again since Indigo was created and nothing has ever been said confirming that Frogster is looking into it.

I do agree that PvP brackets, or raising the min level to PvP, would help players get used to the game or at least get them interested in the game enough to spend a bit of cash.
