Question/feedback about event?

This may earn me a demerit, but it needs to be addressed? Hope some of you do not face what I just did. It didn't make for an enjoyable experience.

So, we had a GM log on to our server. Word went around and like wildfire it spread. There were a lot of people at this event where we received goodies. WOOT! awesome.. candy, cake, hero pots, heal pots.. this was great. My memorial day is looking to be GREAT!

LOL! now comes the bad part. The GM summons some mobs. The mobs drops chest, but with the lag, greed, etc.. I got nothing. I whisper the GM, and I get no response QQ. Some times, it can be so UGLY!

Venting, and expecting a Demerit, and a closure on this post. Because of a previous experience on these boards. But, hit this post up.. flame, let me know what u all think about the good, the bad, and the ugly.

I'll address a couple of the topics you brought up.

1. While it's regrettable that you didn't get anything from the chests (at least this time), there are a limited number of those that can be given out per event and server, mainly because of the quality of items they can contain. It's not really possible for everyone to get one, as a result. Sadly, this can bring out the worst in some, but at least everyone has a good chance to get the candy/cake/potions and maybe even GM foods.

2. Regarding the in-game GM not responding to a whisper - It is incredibly difficult to even READ all the whispers one gets on a GM character, and I'm speaking as a speed-reader. Even someone capable of typing 200 words per minute could not respond to all whispers, especially not in a timely manner. I can assure you the GM is not willfully ignoring you. The fact of the matter is that they may have never seen your whisper in the wall-of-text that fills their chat window every 1.5-ish seconds. Add in the complexity of running the event, and then ten people spamming you with trades or duel requests, and it becomes even worse.

Then y even bother making it unenjoyable for anyone? Doesn't make sense to me. I wouldn't want to intentionally or unintentionally create that situation for anyone.

I mean, GRATS to all that enjoyed. BOO! to lag and greed.. and that's the thing that got me. These people will still be there, lag will still be there, I may not be there and this situation still happened, and I don't see any help in sight that will change how I was made to feel. Or any help for those players who didn't receive and thing from the chest because of the amount that is able to be put out there, and the fact that others will well.. get what they can, and it's not their fault either. /shrug, still feeling crappy on memorial day. But meh, I'm in Hawaii.. I'm going to Punchbowl Memorial and pay some respect.

Yeah GM events aren't really fair. I've been at them where i'm there from when the GM appears to when it leaves and I never get any of the dumplings or the biscuits, but then there's people that get 5 or 6 sets of stuff. How is that fair? Can't you run a script or something to make sure everyone gets something, or at least that people don't get MORE than 1 set of stuff.

That is something that is very high on my personal wish list, an area give all command, *daydreams*.

Nytefall is right, it is really hard to catch everyone, be it in chat or when handing out buff-food, and trying to keep track of who already got something makes it even harder. Someone is always left behind and I always feel sorry about it when i have to leave :(

We are doing the best we can to make everyone happy, but it is a really tough task on these events, especially if they are spontaneously done, like this one was by me and Aetherth.

Again so sorry if we missed anyone.

We wish you all a very nice Memorial Day none the less and our thoughts are with those who we honor on this special day.

Well I enjoy these little events, but I do agree about how much of something someone gets, for instance the chest ppl are so greedy it is crazy. At least limit on how many pairs of wings you get or something I have seen several get like 4 sets of little devil wings to me that is just greedy and selfish....that is my 2 cents worth lol

i live in canada so i missed it because well,its not a holiday here so i had to work.but its good to hear that the Gms were in game (maybe they got rid of the botters and spammers)

Those things are always a pandemonium, even more so when they are not pre-announced. Today was a good example. Small area with 100 toons means horrible lag, people crashing, things scrolling up faster than anyone can read. People are asking to put away mounts, pets and clothes (especially wings), but some just dont care. Worse yet, some decide that they will be more noticeable if they stand out more, so they put on transformations.

Obviously, some decide to use the opportunity to play 20 questions. Others feel that "Airing of Grievances (tm)" is called for. The "why did I get no loot when guy next to me got some" is constant theme. As soon as GM leaves, there is usually fair deal of flaming.

This isnt the first time, and wont be the last.

I was one of the few ppl that killed Dio when she came to Reni , then after she'd dead tons of ppl showed up and alot of them said they get gifts3-4 times .. Me i got nothing , Doi told me next time she's on Reni to PM her and she would send me my gifts .. Reading this , if i see she's on my /W will be useless .. My gifts are not going to happen . I waisted port rune to get there and pots to help kill her .. Hope they find away so everyone there gets one gift , not the same ppl getting all the gifts.

Meh, I don't even go anymore. Everytime this event happens I crash about as soon as I get there. My opinion...do the event in secret..i.e. invisibly pass out random goodies to say people on varanas bridge or other popular places.

100% agree. Make items unique so players can only loot one item then maybe others can enjoy this aspect of the game as well

I dont bother going to get the free stuff from GM's. Too much lag, and you got maybe a 50/50 chance of actually getting something. That being said, stop making posts about things that require common sense, they don't get it. It's why they constantly put sales up for the same price, or even HIGHER. It's why siege is in beta forever. Its why you STILL constantly crash in Dalanis. And it's why they don't have diamond sales anymore. Call it flaming, call it hatever you want, but nothing i've said is not the truth.

can I suggest to you guys (GMs) to please please please not have those 'events' in silversping.
go to ystra or howling mountains, I crashed at least 5 times within 10 minutes just trying to see the gm <.<

Ystra might be a better spot yes :) We sure will take that into consideration for next time.

The way these bosses drop the chests, I am afraid it is first come first serve, which is why I always try to spawn some smaller bosses as easy fast kills in-between so everyone gets a chance as much as possible. But there are some good suggestions in this thread that I will gladly forward.
