hopefully they prove ebil wrong in his other post, and things change for the better

I hope they prove me wrong too. I didn't say the things I did to spite Frogster, my mind works on the premise of how do I generate the most possible profit for my company, but that same mindset also makes me think, how do I make my customers purchase those ideas. Come Tuesday we will see.

Well, that didnt turn out well. We are now EU. :(

That is gonna do a number on economy. No ABLs - no gear trades. Gear trades are the backbone of economy in so many ways.

I concur. Abl's have always been the key to fixing the in game economy. I made a statistical analysis of the failing economy and submitted to Swag last year that making abl's much cheaper (not free as that will flood the market over night, there has to be a cost to making money) would likely fix the economy. I think it was 74% likely. He either didn't understand stats or didn't care enough to pass it along. Either way let us hope FEU understands the importance of the abl

This is WHY I pointed out, early on in the thread, that having gear be bind on equip is going to result in cash gained- not cash lost.

Why?

Because it makes it so much easier for a player to obtain that gear. The bind lifters are effectively placing a halt on sales of plussing jewels, drillers, runes, and puris- all of which, when combined, result in far more diamonds being spent than the abl does in total.

So true. My Wd/D (in example) can do solo HoS normal runs (up till chariot of course) and I get some good dura drops sometime that I would LOVE to use drillers, plussing jewels, runes, and puries on and give to guildmates who need decent gear and are willing to buy what I get in drops. But forget that. One ABL per piece?! They don't realize that making me pay the 100 diamonds for one ABL is stopping me from potentially spending 200-300+ diamonds tweaking the piece and selling it. Now instead of me spending 300+ diamonds on a great dura item, I spend NOTHING AT ALL.

They could at least test it for a month and see how much more money they would make if ABLs weren't as detrimental to the playerbase/economy as they are.

What is worse is that they did this when the 2 new classes they released are both tied to a new race. While this has (to put it mildly) irked me from the start, this brings it to a whole new level. This means that, even if you want to make a new main with the new classes, you can't even move over the gear you have (assuming you were willing to spend over $80.00 to do it).

It is just another slap in the face for the loyal player that has spent money and accumulated Housing, Pets, Mounts, and other charicter specific items that they have to leave behind to play the new classes. Now they have to wait for an ABL sale to come around too... When was the last time you saw ABL's on sale outside of a package or got-ya?

Believe it or not... I'm actually trying to contain my disgust at all of this. Yes, it's just a game... The actuall game doesn't bother me as much as the knowledge that there are real people that seem to be, at best, out of touch and, at worst, just mean and greedy.

With the removal of ABLs and the price reduction on Pure Fusion Stones (did they drop the price on plussers as well?) it appears the Frogster is trying to push players to obtain and create their own gear.

Gear trade has BECOME an important part of the economy in RoM. If the powers that be are really interested in having players stick around long enough to create their own sets of gear, then all gear should come unbound, but then become bound as soon as it is plussed or statted in any way.

However, I suspect that the frog wants every player to do more than just make their awesome set of final gear. They want you to create a new set of gear every 5 levels or so starting from level 50 up to 72 then 77. The puri price reduction seems like an attempt on their part to make that process seem less painful, which will result in more players going that route. If they're serious about unlocking a stepped progression like that for most of the player base, they will also introduce more ways to get puries in-game for free. They need to find a way to subsidize, but not completely replace the CS for those who are willing to take their time and gear up relatively slowly. And I'm NOT talking about 1k pTokens per puri....

Perhaps a quest with a 72 hr CD that gives a pure fusion stone? Or maybe an owenstein-type toon that offers a different CS item each day of the week? Like I said, I don't want to replace the CS, just help reduce the cost for those that have more time than money.

Honestly, even as an OKie, I think this is a good move and about time and no you are not EU, and they are not US, but we are one GAME.

To some degrees, this might seem hard, on other parts it will make things easier ;)

We had for quite some time situations that got my brain frazzled, which promo where, what offer when. We need to remember what we are, one Runes of Magic with one Publisher behind. It will be a bit of a hump for a while and i totally understand your intentions and sorrows, but RoM is a strong game with ONE strong community, no matter how many servers we have.

no we are a crappy version of EU, while this would have been ok back in ch 2/3 this is 5 tons of gear to upgrade/buy/stat starting at 55 and now the newer players and ppl that are playing the new class are screwed into taking forever to gear up...

lol it may be easier on CM's GM's and all that jazz. but its a big blow to Us players on US servers sure EU wont complain but for us its a game changer the only difference we see is alot of the items we had are gone and a "few" items have lower prices. we got alot of price raises and the only thing we can say is ok about it is the puri. but in the end when we weigh our pro's and con's the scale is tipped in the con's favor. I as well as many really want to see detailed explanations to go along with our changes they'd be much more bearable if we could see the logic behind this

Great! I'm glad the ABL is gone.

Now do the second step, and make gear BIND ON EQUIP, please and thanks.

There's an assumption you've made that doesn't quite wash. The Mentors, GMs, and CMs do play RoM, and we don't get any special "consideration" with regard to diamonds or Item Shop purchases. In that respect, we're in the same boat with the rest of the player base.

Just saying, and further, deponent sayeth not.

hmmm this still doesnt explain somethings like the point of aligning all the item shops? how does this make better the community? ill admit there are some great moves in the item shop but in the end its not impressive its more of a "meh" feeling
my response was to dio saying she likes the changes and its a load off not having to do the extra work organizing the promo's

i know things wont be perfect i personally would like some insight into the minds thoughts or ideas that went into these changes. you all probably have meetings and discuss certain changes then they are implemented without prior notification and somethimes we end up feeling the brunt of those changes and dont see a fix until months or a new chapter comes. its unnerving sometimes to not know anything a little insight goes a long way

There is an upside to this - it allows the sales team to devote more time to creating new sales and offers (As they can now create one for both US and EU, rather than having to create two separate sales), and prevents silly errors like the ones we were getting for a while, such as the "sales that were not sales".

I believe it has the potential to turn out very well.
