Constellation Pets: Worth the Effort or Not?

For anyone who has obtained a Constellation Pet, I'd really appreciate some detailed information
on its characteristics, skills or benefits.

It is a huge amount of effort to obtain a Constellation Pet from what I have read in other posts,
Is a Constellation Pet useful or is it simply another type of Vanity-Pet, pretty to look at, but not
any real benefits (Buffs)? Does a Constellation Pet give active or passive skills like "normal" pet eggs?

Apparently, Constellation Pet come with one of 4 elemental affinities (water, wind, earth, and fire)
and there are 3 pets for each elemental affinity. Is there any difference between these 3?
Is one perhaps more useful / valuable / powerful like a "Holy Pet Egg" compared to a "Wild Pet Egg"?

Are there any Constellation Pets with the affinities light, dark or none (like Rune Pet Eggs)?
Is one type of Constellation Pet better for Mages? Rogues?, etc.

I must admit to being confused by the entire thing  and unsure if it is worth the apparent effort.
Any guidance you can provide would be great :D

To answer the thread topic directly: yes. Unlike a simple item shop pet that would give 20% increase in tp/exp/luck for, I think, 1 hour, the constellation pets give you a % buffs of your choosing for 3 hours. Then as you mature your constellation pet, the % increases; exponentially for many good buffs. So to me, that is pretty worthwhile. The options of buffs are also dynamic. There are buffs you can't get from other item shop pets or in-game pet eggs.

Getting one in the first place also isn't that much work. Do the crafting event activities to get your pet crystal, then do the machines "game" every day for the elements. To get a newborn you only need 27 elements, so the most it would take you is 1 week (at the rate of 4 elements/day which is the minimum). :)

First of all, thanks, EsxCape. I've been reading your posts on the subject - excellent job.

The one thing I'd like to add is that just based on the general "Constellation - Zodiac" thing (and they still use terms interchangeably), we will be getting other sign pets throughout the year. Otherwise, what is the point of the whole Zodiac theme? We don't know if they will always be attached to events or not.

Likewise, the elements needed may or may not be wind elements. Perhaps wind elements are only good for wind pets and we will be getting fire elements, earth elements, etc.

One thing not known yet is what the element affects. They dont match with the current pet system elements, so presumably there is different association of class to best element. That means getting a current Gemini/Wind pet as well as wind elements might be a waste of time if your best match is a Fire Scorpio pet.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

That's actually been concerning me a bit. I would have never thought it was attached to the crafting event. I thought it was it's own activity. X_X And we don't always have a festival going on either... I'm probably going to get a pet egg now since we know for sure 1 place you can get them at the moment. When that changes, we'll be back to square one. :(

I think I mentioned this in the main thread, but only wind elements can be used with wind pets. They don't work with other pets. The only reason why everything is using wind elements as an example now is because that's the current situation. It won't always be. When it changes to a fire pet, we will get fire elements. When it changes to a water pet, we will get water elements. etc etc.

The elements are just for maturing the pet. They don't have any further use that I can see. When you get your pet you will have a list of options of buffs to select. The patch notes made it seem like these choices were universal, in which case the only thing that changes is the appearance of the pet. Again, we can't 100% confirm any of this until the next zodiac pet comes into play.
