Deserted Game

So this game has been deserted lately, Reni has seen the hits of it at least.
There are no endgame runs, barely anyone on to run stuff, people only show up for siege.

So here are some theories.

Since ABL's are gone, this took the endgame out of endgame.
endgamers only played to get rich, they ran stuff to get gear, sell the gear, and then make tons of money.
Now the most they can do is farm stats and sell those quick and cheap.

They all ran off to other games.
This is another thing, this chapter gave endgamers nothing new.
The only thing that would be considered fun is too make a dwarf, but most don't even want to do that since it wont be balanced and the current classes aren't even balanced why should we move?

Customer service sucks.
Another thing, when something is wrong, fix it. Don't wait until the next Tuesday to implement a change.
Just because the server has to go down doesn't mean anything. Change it right away don't wait.
We can wait two hours for the server to come back online don't worry we will still be here. Maybe.

Anything else?

There are NO endgame runs? Oh there are endgame runs. We just did ToSh a few nights ago, we do AC, it's not as if nothing is happening.

The game is dying though.. slowly but surely people are quitting for other games.

Endgame runs to what end though? The new AC content and sets are barely an upgrade if not worse in some cases. As a priest with only glorious/hero statted gear and 230k hp fully potted I do not see a point in re-statting until 75. All I need is the frost earring and belt and I will have my set. I will clean t7 them and wait until next zone. (Granted you can't even plus them to 16 so I won't even equip them until it is released.) Because of Krolin farming there is almost 0 reason to run to sell stats. So I see this as a small and horrible addition to the endgame content and community. Tosh hard mode has been on farm for a while now and has become boring. People complain about the prices of endgame gear, but the reason they are pricey is because the content was hard and no one could run it. If it was easy no one would play it, hence AC.

I will agree that Reni has been deserted. But due to teh time it takes to confirm a bug after it has been reported, then figure out what caused the bug, then code either a fix or recode the bug so it is gone, it can take some time for them to finaly get a patch to fix anything. There are tons of bugs still ingame that ahve not been fixed, and most likely cannot or will not be fixed. Frogster can only forward what we find to Runewaker,a dn then they decide wether to fix or ignore something.
ABL's will be back but I doubt they will ever be in the CS like they were. "Endgamers" had it easy now they must work like everyone else to get what they want or go without like so many of us have to. Biggest problem with "Endgamers" is some of the m priced themselves out of the market and the only ones who could buy items were gold sellers when something was posted in teh AH for an outrageous price, which still goes on. Customer service is only as good as the person requesting it. if you are a douche*** towards them then you are more likely to get ignored or stuck on a back burner. Be polite when dealing with tehm and do not rage when they cannot help you. It will get you better service and a better experience.
MMORPG's are not all about giving stuff to "Endgamers", there is a whole other set of players to satisify also, if an "Endgamer" decides to leave then so be it, he/she will ahve to go back through the process of getting to the end again in any new game they decide to play.
NO GAME HAS A TRUE END. Therefore there is truly no such thing as an "Endgamer". It is a tag made up by people that want to be the best in everything they do, and yet some fail miserably. I do not even recognize anyone as beign an "Endgamer" unless the game has a true ending and will be shut down.

Endgamer - MMORPG definition: A player who has a character powerful enough to run the highest level available instance presented by a game. They must have also gathered everything necessary from it, and have no room for improvement to be gained from running that instance and are left with no other content to benefit their character growing stronger.

Yes there is other content to play, but all mmorpg economies are supported by crafting/gathering/endgame and since runes of magic has almost no worthwhile crafting except for maybe instant food (used by Endgamers) the endgame supports it. The reason people play a mmorpg is because the gameplay never ends. There is always something to do and people find their nitch: pvp, pve, crafting, ah buying selling, hoarding, pve instances/endgaming. When your nitch has no room for growth or benefit then you lose interest and move on. This destroys the already dwindling population.

I realize that the ABL removal has lead to a tough transition time... but I still counsel patience on this. Things will improve.

I also disagree that it took the endgame out of endgame, though it did make it harder to earn gold at endgame.

I don't feel that any PvE server is "deserted" either - I've not seen or experienced issues like this myself, and server populations have not dipped drastically like people claim on the forums.

If you're not finding instance runs or groups, start them yourself! The solution begins with each individual player.

I'm going to disagree with this one as well - I know many endgamers that are still around, and still playing. Some of them have taken breaks, but there's no Terms of Service clause that says Runes of Magic is the only game you can play, and I'm confident they will return. I know many are waiting for the next level cap increase, for example.

I personally feel the classes are the closest to "balanced" they've ever been since the launch of chapter 2. Sure, things aren't perfect - but they're still better than they've ever been. Regarding the dwarf classes, we still need to see more of Champion and Warlock in action at or near end-game to determine exactly what they need tweaked.

I'd disagree on the Customer service portion here. While you may not agree with all of the policies in place, giving specific feedback is much better than "I hate this".

Some of your requests in this post are just not possible, as well. Issues that can be fixed immediately are - that's why you sometimes get emergency server downtime or server restarts outside of the maintenance schedule.

Anything that needs Runewaker's intervention to fix, however, is likely to require a patch and around six hours of downtime - Not something that would make people happy if it were to occur on a Friday during siege time.

Additionally, a rushed fix may make things worse - In most cases, (speaking as a player) I'm okay with waiting if it means we get a higher-quality fix... and I'd rather have server downtime on a predictable day and for a predictable time, even if it means a few things remain broken for a few more days.

Trying to log in to siege only to find it cancelled for patch maintenance would make me upset - Far more upset than waiting until Tuesday for a bug fix.

Regarding comments about the game's "dying" - before the forum restructuring, I could find you posts from chapter 1 making the same claim.

They haven't been true so far, and they're not true now.

Govinda seems quiet too, Rorrzan is pretty much a ghost town. Even Krolin is starting to look sad and lonely.
World Chat is pretty quiet at night, before/after siege time when world is supposed to be filled with billions of shouts.
Almost no PuG groups to be found, and the few ones that are there die off because there's no tanks...

Nytefall, would it be possible to have an ingame counter to let us know how many players are ON on the server we play please. But i doubt Frogster would allow that, wouldn't they??

We then might know how many people are actually on, lol.

Thx

Would still like that counter, thx

Unfortunately, every patch from runewaker seems like a rushed fix, even if it came packaged as a new chapter.
And let's face it, frogster would never take down a server for an unscheduled patch unless it harms their chances of earning money from cash shop purchases (duping issue). It was amazing how quickly a fix for that came but we have to sit and wait months for chain quests to be fixed. (with exception to the water temperature one, yet the cup quest in dwarven zone has no solution)

Also as Zidlef mentioned some population statistics or information would be nice to know. But just because there is 1000 people on does not mean there are 100+ groups running instances that are at least RT+. Main reason you keep telling people the claims the game is dying are unfounded, yet to us you have unfounded claims. Frogster is the one in control of information and the fact that information is severely withheld from the playerbase forces conjecture.

As it stands, people have no reason to buy drillers for new items unless they have high level runes from old gear to put it (but have no way of releasing the old gear). People don't want to stat new gear due to a lack of plussing jewels (and the fact that the levels for jewels are 30, 40 and 80 frogster has essentially declared all gear that was ever endgame the same value regardless of how difficult or simple to acquire it) The price increase on rubies for perfect plussers now means that achieving +6 is at least 3 times higher than before. So forgive us for saying the game is dying when almost every action taken in the new chapter has punished the endgamers with higher costs while trying to lure new wallets in to a game where the playerbase is bitter
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.

I agree with this. Ch. 3 was horribly unbalanced, but Runewaker took the time and got it almost right. Warriors may need a bit of a boost, but at endgame in PewPewKittens most classes can play (Granted certain combos are better than others. Ex Mage/Warrior is 10x the pve dps of any other mage)

This game has gone in cycles of population since ch 1. It goes up and down based on content. There are a large amount of people waiting for the next raid at 75, because the rewards for running it are actually useful. Nice reply Nytefall

Easier said than done. People are selective about groups, instances are hard enough with your own guild, but just picking up whoever is even hard. So guilds wont pick up other people. Finding a harder instance to get the gear you need is too hard unless you're in the right guild.

Aglupus is correct on this one. Take tanks for instance. Kanuunchou on Artemis has the best gear period. He approaches 300k hp fully buffed.(depending on what buffs even over) Running AC and Tosh hard modes with him vs other tanks is a ridiculous difference. This leads to players not wanting to run with other tanks. On top of that there are very few on the server who can actually tank the last instances like Tosh, AC, GCHM. Now I have tanked in the past. I was in the second group to clear RT diamond mode when 60 was cap, but now I am a priest. I may think to myself: "I'd like to tank again." But, I can't because I cannot use the wealth obtained from doing Tosh hard mode as priest to gear my knight side. And, we do not farm tosh as hardcore anymore so gearing a second side becomes extremely difficult. No ABL's takes the dual out of dual classing.

Lol and I seem to recall them taking the servers down inbetween tuesdays since chapter 5 has been released. So, when it needs fixed, THEY ARE FIXING IT.

As for end-game...I don't see your end-game as even being a remotely fun end-game. Yay, let me sell tons and tons of gear I don't need farming the hardest instance in the game just cuz I have nothing else to do, just to make gold that will just sit there cuz I have nothing to buy anyways!

Laugh out loud! Nothing to buy! You stock up on gold so that you can buy the crap ton of diamonds from diamond sellers that it takes to clean t7-t8 gear and clean t9 my healing wand. You might say, "Thats not neccessary!" Then I will say that is why you get your butt kicked by PewPewKittens in seige.

Speaking as someone who faced PPK in siege-

They are killable, especially when they only have 8-10 active players in a siege at a time. I don't have the best gear available, nor do I use all my available buffs/pots/foods during a siege against any guild, but I still can kill a player (even one better geared than I am). I still can run AC. It's more difficult to do things that way, but it can be done.

That stated- I would dearly love to see what I could do with all the best gear, everything optimal. I lost that ability when GameFEU took the plussing jewels out of the IS, took ABL's out so that I could make the gold to buy basics for instance runs, could earn some reward for running an instance beyond gearing my own toon. I can't even pass gear to anyone else right now so that they, too, can enjoy the content and run with me in the next instance. Ask any player in XG, and you'll most often find that I passed gear to them for free or for very little cost, along with cleaners, drillers- almost anything they needed. Now I can't help them other than to run an instance with them. And that's not right.
In a world of black, white, and grey... I'd be bright friggin' purple. M/P on Reni.

I will say this: What would you do if all the diamond sellers went on strike and decided to not sell diamonds for one weekend during a major sale on much needed items?? You would have to go and buy your own. Beign a diamond seller, I can safely say this, on Reni we ahve forced the prices down a lot from what they used to be. I am not real sure how much diamonds cost on Artemis, but on Reni we have dropped them to between 20k and 30k per. Most sellers cannot get over 30k anymore due to this.

I for one ahve a small number of TRUSTED buyers that I sell to, and will not sell to anyone else. Doing it that way has made me a trusted seller who people come to when a diamond sale is on because they know I stock up then.

LoL we just had a level cap increase and I did not see any endgamers return on my server, at least not from my guild. They are not going to return this time. Cash shop prices, a ridiculous sales team and better games to play have driven them away for good. Prove me wrong, put a counter in game and just watch the numbers slowly dwindle then go poof come this fall.

Well so long as my guild is still on I'm good, though im noticing the usual folks who farm gear to make hundreds of millions are gone, maybe they will come back at level 75 when the chapter begins.
