Slim Client says 3.5 GB's, but is really 6

I just want to address the issue of the 'Slim' Client being advertised as only 3.5 GB's.

1024 Mb = 1 Gb, with that being said, the total for the single download is 6154.3 MB (as of July 02,2012)

6154.3 MB = 6.01 GB's

I mean its great that everything from the client & chapter 1-5 is incorporated into one download but i just feel there's a bit of false advertisement in clicking that. Someone unfortunate enough to start the download under the requirements unknowingly won't get to finish the entire download, running out of disk space or something.

I feel both the Full Client and Slim Client downloads should be re-advertised as "this is the everything pretty much" download with the up-to-date numbers.

Thanks

The full clinet is even worse... I remember its advertised as 7 GB? I looked at my RoM folder and it says 18.8 GB...

I downloaded Runes_of_Magic_4_0_8_2506_slim_us just before the updated version was made available, it is 4.87 gig.

wow thats quite a chunk of space lol im glad i brought this up cause honestly.. i would disregard this if this was like.. chapter 3.. but its said 3.5 GB for as long as i have been playing and it can no longer go un-noticed, needs to be changed for the sake of the new player base. people asking "Why is this download taking so long" really turns people away. If it was like "oh, it's a big download. I can make plans to do something today and tomorrow." being advertised at the newly updated numbers, it would be more assuring.

As was said above the slim client is 6154 meg and found full client is 8429 meg download. Would be nice if the web site said 6.1G and 8.4G instead of it's current 3.5G and 7.5G.

What do you have in there besides the kitchen sink and a bar fridge? Still have 2 up to date full clients on other machines and they are 11G and 12G in size.

My current slim install is 6.8G from the 6.1G download.

One of my addons insists on screenshotting the initial loading screen each time I log in. Some time I'll try to work out which addon it is & kill it.

I've had a quick look at the config on those I can & can't find or disable the screenshot so I delete all screenies about once a month. On average I delete 9-12 gig of useless screenies.

Anyway, might be worth looking at your screenshot folder Ruisen.

that would probably be d303_fix. I think you can set it to only take a screenie if it can't find the time any other way. This is more problematic since the Daily offers have gone, but it is still pretty good at it. You can also still manually take a screenie and it will take the time from that.

The addon doing the screen shots could be d303Fix. Taking a screenshot is 1 of the methods it can use to get the current time. Some addons like knowing the time and d303fix provides the time.

I blame Elevenscribe and his Your Fav. Screenshots thread >_>

And I looked at my files in my RoM folder. There's a file called "fdb" that takes up 7 GB, and another file called Runes_of_Magic_5.0.0 (insert list of numbers here)_full that takes up another 8 GB.

Not sure whether I should touch these, I don't want to break RoM (if thats even possible), so if it doesn't contribute to lag, then I guess i'll just leave it, since my Comp still has 376 GB of space left.

Thanks guys I'll look see what I can do with d303fix.

Ruisen, Runes_of_Magic_5.0.0 (insert list of numbers here)_full sounds like the full client install file.
