So, now, the magic cavies see our traps 2 and 3 times and run away from them. This ends up making our trap expire, and costs us the gold it took to buy the trap. Given that many times cavies spawn in groups of monsters, on the edge of drop-offs, near something they can jump up so we can't get them, or just take forever to herd into the traps, this is unneeded, unwanted, and unwelcome.
FIX THIS!! Once I can see. Still gives us a chance to catch them with our original trap. Twice and more is beyond stupid.

Erm...they've ALWAYS done this, since the release of cavies and the pet system, so I'm not sure what you're talking about. They have always had an exclamation mark pop up above their head when they get close to a trap, and if you aren't quick enough to push them into it they will run away from it.

I have always seen the exclamation point but that was always followed by a ding and the cavie captured. What the OP is talking about is now if you see that exclamation point, the cavie turns and runs. Even if you are still behind it, pushing to the trap, it will walk right through you to get away from the trap. There is no pushing it while the exclamation point is on the cavie's head.
Its annoying but a small annoyance. I have had one run from the trap three times back to back but what makes me upset is when the cavie walks right through the trap and nothing happens.

yes, it has ALWAYS done that if you are not quick enough to push it into the trap.

I'd rather them make high level zones drop good pet eggs instead of crap ones, add new pets to the mix from the higher zones, and give us a chance for eggs higher than level 30ish. Making cavies more irritating to catch really doesn't improve a single thing.

It might be more of an annoyance to slum around in AV killing elite nagas all over the map to obtain level 20-40 eggs on a frequent basis. They are in the game and it seems to have been the best place since the pets were put in the game, to obtain eggs for leveling. You can obtain eggs of all color and style from these but they often are anywhere from lvl 20-40. It worked for me.

Actually, they never have until recently. As other people said, they had the "!" above their heads, but they still trapped themselves. I've caught hundreds of cavies and it's only since I came back after chapter 5 that they started running away.
That said, yes it is annoying. Especially when the cavy is in a difficult area to begin with, since if it runs, you can't herd it back until it gets a certain distance away. I haven't missed a cavy yet due to this, but it does make catching them more troublesome. I don't really get what the point of this ninja-change was. I'd rather them make high level zones drop good pet eggs instead of crap ones, add new pets to the mix from the higher zones, and give us a chance for eggs higher than level 30ish. Making cavies more irritating to catch really doesn't improve a single thing.

With my warlock I farm eggs in AV you know you have a high level pet when he resists the trap, I recently got a dark level 39 that resisted three times. AV is big gold for pets. But the better they are the harder to catch.

I already know that AV drops the highest level eggs. My point is that higher zones should drop better eggs. A level 72 shouldn't have to farm level 55s for good eggs. But that's besides the original topic at hand. My statement was only meant to say that I think it's stupid that, out of all the things they could have changed with cavies and eggs, they decided to make them harder to catch.

I'm pretty sure the pet system was released before your/our join dates, so I'm not sure how you would know how cavies worked before you even joined this game...?

You are aware that forum join dates aren't the same thing as "date they started playing RoM" right? For example I've been playing much longer than my forum date indicates
