Nerf! Nerf! Buff! Buff!

I am seeing a lot of threads (and large ones at that) about "nerf this" and "buff that". I think that before we continue to post on these things we should take into account the game itself. For ex: the dreaded P/S Iceblade is in strong desire to be nerfed. The reasoning I can see for this is pvp. Before we decide to nerf a class in pvp, should we not look at pvp itself first? A large amount of damage is output by all classes in siege. Pvp itself needs a rework. Only after this should nerfing based on pvp (iceblade and shadowstab) be thought about. Also this is and always will be a pve based game. (Granted a lot of us are just here for siege) I think if we are talking nerf or buff we should primarily consider pve (wd/w tanking, underpowered classes like p/w). Instead of complaining about classes that gain from this age of one shots, you should complain about the age itself.

On top of that, almost every mmorpg on the market has "flavors of the month". Because of runewakers slow development and poor communication, Runes of Magic's "flavors of the month" last like 4-6 months. This is just how a game works that has such a large range of class combinations that make it hard to balance.

Now I am in no way saying everything should just stay the way it is. I have my own (and sometimes overly vocal) opinions on what should be nerfed and buffed. I am just stating that I think we should all realize the uselessness of complaining about a pimple when that pimple is on top of a cancerous tumor.

The idea is great, but it is flawed.

Smart people are the minority in this world. The chances of people thinking more before acting is very unlikely.
We live in a world where I > all.

We see something we don't like so we jump in rage or stupidity to say it should be changed without giving a godo reason to why it should be changed other then the person who is asking for the change simply does not like it.

The problem is very few that troll this forum will give un-biased opinions of what should be nerfed and buffed. Ebil and Kef (both R/S) will scream and shout what needs to be nerfed, but somehow r/s never seems to need a nerf according to them. This is why Frogster probably doesnt take any advice from these forums seriously...nor should they. All that being said, Frogster can't even make any changes to balancing lmfao, so running of at the mouth here about it does literally ZERO good.

Their only problem is that they try to think outside of the box on stuff that is straight forward like gcd a good idea when dealing with classes like scouts that can attack attack attack but an insult to classes like mage that spend halftheir time waiting on cooldowns and cast times

They need to learn that they cant apply blanket fixes to little isolated problems because they create more problems then they try tofix

Funny how you talk about me like you know me, I was playing Wd/S a lot prepatch and have been playing R/Wd post patch, also most of the time you'll see me on my D/Wd/W these days during non siege hours... still not content with how much it's geared up to siege with it yet, it's endgame but not as endgame as Kef, but oh wait I guess that people can't have more than one character.

Anyways R/S in itself isn't OP and I've been preaching for a long time that SP needs a nerf atleast in pvp which is a rogue primary skill.

Funny how alot of trolls who screamed nerf scout got their way. All I ever asked for is a 2 second CD on Iceblade, so don't make it seem like I ask for nerfs about multiple things. Even as a r/s when shot had no CD I could admit it was a bit OP much like Kef with CC, he is a r/wd. Some of us can admit our skills are OP, p/s though try to convince people that other classes just aren't stacking enough mdef. So get your facts straight and stop embellishing the truth.

It's funny how people scream Nerf about everything that can kill them.

As a Rogue who has PVP'd most then any can talk about in this thread, hell, maybe most of the forums.

IceBlade doesn't need a nerf. It is fine the way it is. Yes, it is powerful but if you stated Mdef, you wouldn't be having this problem.

That's the other one people "oh you can't kill it" umm yeah I can, ask Quaffy, hutch, sublime, grandmama, and the list goes on. And if I go against a heavy magic user guild I'll go r/p with mdef food. Its alot more fun now that combo throw is OP. And I appreciate you saying it is powerful. Few people will.

I completely agree that IceBlade is fine as is. As a k/p I find that it does next to no thing through my sheild of diciplin and seeing i can keep a caster stunned for 6secs and i have 5secs immunity they usualy dont last long (pvp build knight). R/S, on the other hand are perfectly fine except combate masters 60% critical damage boost does need to be reduced, or make it so classes can only critical on each other a max of 10%. Those little fixes and pvp would be better. As far as stacking more mdeff.........Take a w/p to lvl 50/50 and buff your guildies with magic barrier. Free 65% magical deff buff pluse 7% magical damge reduction for 15 mins. Magical deff problem solved lol.

Over all, I agree with the OP that we should fix pvp first then fix the classes. Make deff count in the game and that will fix a lot of problems. Only thing I ask is do not slow pvp down as far as WoW because my fights with k/p take 25s-1min each right now which means in WoW speed that is going to be an hour instead lol.

Have fun all,

The issue stems from Runewaker's history of nerfing things.

They can't stop, really. It's because of their flavor of the month strategy- they want you to be constantly rerolling classes to become the next op class, only to have to reroll again 4 months to a year when they nerf the combo you just rolled to.

In addition to that, every time a class gets changed (whether for better or for worse), very few can agree on whether or not the change will make the overall game better.

Furthermore, most people don't understand that you aren't supposed to be running around in "ROFLEASYGODSTOMP" mode, where you're the only one that can do anything in PVE or PVP (Scouts of Magic got most thinking otherwise).

You're supposed to be weak to something. If you didn't stat against it, don't be surprised if it hits you like a truck.

Where the real problems come in is where defense is completely ignored. It's a flaw that represents a broken mechanic- and really, Iceblade's not broken. What's broken is the response time on the combat log, i.e. it showing the death and THEN the hit/s by iceblade, in addition to the client/server connection in siege giving people no time to react.

We're on a buff/nerf rollercoaster that won't stop until people quit calling for it. And even then, it may not happen, because Runewaker loves to tamper with their own class combinations and break them or buff them, depending on what content they're releasing next.

I'm tired of listening to the complaining as well. And while a select few on each server might have enough gold to completely regear each time a new op combo comes up, the majority just can't do it. It means sticking with a potentially broken class combination until Runewaker either nerfs everyone else into the ground with you... or hoping that the combination is eventually buffed. With no guarantee of if they'll go overboard and you'll get nerfed yet again.

Real balance comes in giving every class combination a chance to beat the other guy. Some combos can overcome heavy odds to do that,, but most are stuck trying to take out certain classes and hope their nemesis class doesn't show up. And that's the primary reason why there's so much whining.
In a world of black, white, and grey... I'd be bright friggin' purple. M/P on Reni.

We should just all roll Priests with healing gear and Knights with tanking gear. I doubt they will ever be nerfed to the point were they are not needed. :)

I think that healing as a priest is the best it has ever been. It is so much more fun now that you can't spam gh. I use a much larger skill set and can still heal everything in the game. (5th boss AC is hectic and stressful, but that makes it fun!)
