WHOA!

Am I like the only one not bothered by this? Especially since we all knew that EU was never allowed to ever get away with anything like trading gamecards for gear/gold? They threw a fit over us being able to get away with Zeevex too, iirc, when they tried the same thing was Gampay tokens or some such kind of heathen EU gamecard currency.

Guys.

Keep calm and carry on.

You can all do what we do on my trailer-park server, since almost no one ever bothered to trade with Zeevex (which is probably why I think it's not a big deal, we never did it and manage OK):

I am Ms. UberEndgamerf2p. You are Ms. Moneybagsnoobp2p. You want a Super Uber Dagger of Oblivion. I can go farm one, you can't. I get one, and do one of two things. Either I wait for a good sale on stuff I need and trade it to you for the cash shop items directly, or you go buy dias when they are on sale and sell them for gold, and pay me 300mil or so, which I use when I need to to buy dias from other sellers for whatever I need.

See how simple that is?

You still get the Super Uber Dagger, I still get my cash shop items I need.

This may actually, in the long term, encourage more players to sell dias to the free to play players.

Less Zeevex token transactions might even boost the economy.

No one needs to panic over this. Yes, Zeevex was nice because it meant you could get dias on your account, but if they do actually turn on the dia npc, that'll take care of stuff like backpack space, and it will not freakin' kill anyone to go get a $10 card once a YEAR to get your rentals taken care of.

Good lord, I think I sound like Ebil. Ohell.

But srsly, peeps. This isn't the end of the world, and it isn't much more than a minor inconvenience with a handy workaround already in place. Zeevex sellers: buy your own dias with them when they are on sale, and sell them for gold. You get the nifty adv packs now, and the rubies, so rejoice! Zeevex buyers: start selling gear for gold, and buy the dia shop items you need from your trusted dia sellers when you need them. They'll be the same people you used to buy zeevex from, so not even the people will change. Get your dia sellers to sell you their rubies and adv packs too. They win, you win.

Win, win, win.

No one even needs to raise prices. All that's changed is the form of currency..

Come on, it works for us on Palenque- if we can manage it in two different languages, I know you smart peeps can do it too.

I noticed something new on the zeevex website that allows you to convert any gift card (walmart, itunes etc.) into zeevex tokens... that might be the reason why.

Alright this thread is slowly spiraling out of control now.
No-one gets banned as long as he follows the ToS and rules. So simply transferring some gold or equip to an alt as example will not get you in trouble. To expand that example: IF large large LARGE amounts of gold switch hands between players without in-game counter value this does not lead to an immediate ban either but to an investigation. Every sanction against game accounts is the conclusion of very thorough investigation and every account holder has means to appeal a sanction by contacting our support team.

The topic of this thread though was to answer a question and the answer is this: Zeevex Trades for in-game gold are not tolerated anymore. So these trades will get you in trouble.

A statement as sticky thread in forum will be made to warn you of that change.

This is really what it boils down to. So please lets concentrate on that fact and I gladly forward your feedback and concerns in that matter, but please lets not derail and panic.

we're not trading or selling, just 1 guildie helping out another in a time of need.

This thread is spiraling out of control because your players are expressing dissent at an arbitrary and ultimately detrimental rule change. Zeevex has been traded for gold for a long time, with largely no consequences to anyone, and had created a pretty healthy game play enviornment. (people who had money, but no gold could sell and trade and vice versa. money was spread around). Maybe a few people exploited the system, but you can punish them instead of all of us. All you are doing is making sure people who have gold keep their gold, and those who have diamonds keep their diamonds.

Zeevex trade was a price stabilizing mechanism on diamond trade. During a hot sale dia prices shoot way up, because there is much increased demand. Supply, of course, get depleted; finding a diamond seller is usually near impossible.

Zeevex trade smoothed it out and stabilized the economy. If you are a zeevex seller, you dont have to wait till the hot sale, you sell your zeevex when you needed gold. If you are a buyer, you got your dias (in form of zeevex tokens) at reasonable rates during those between sales times. It helped the trade, and trade is always good.

I personally have never bought or sold zeevex, so I dont have a dog in the fight; but I can see how Zeevex trade is a positive influence on the game and stopping it is a terrible, terrible move.

Seems like a lot of people (not trying to pick on this one, there are several in all these pages) are just asking the same question in different ways. I think the GM already made it clear that no matter how you word it, it isn't aloud. You guys also need to understand what "bannable" means. It doesn't mean "banned" -- the "able" part implies that it is possible, not that it WILL happen.

That being said, I'd just stick to buying diamonds for gold, directly in-game (trade/mail/gift).. don't be mixing in-game and out of game favors/money/etc. At least if all parts of a deal are done in game, there are logs of the entire transaction, so you might popup on the "watch list" because they see you sent 200m gold to another player.. but then they can also see the other player gifted you a bunch of CS items and know it was "legit". On the other hand, if they just see the 200m gold and nothing else, and see no signs that it is your alt (IPs from different states/countries/etc), then they are more likely to question you. Even worse if you are the person that receives the 200m gold, and the sender is a lvl1 toon named Afgsfrewfsd. :P

Now, poor diamond seller will have to spend their 1k Zeevex and get the smallest package without a diamond sale if they want to get some gold now... Normally Zeevex buyer may use their Zeevex when it's a double dia and still get some money fast...

Zeevex buyer for gold only end up buying the big package which is way less interesting from a Frogster point of view...

Advertising "Buying Zeevex, pst for price" or "Selling Zeevex, pst for price", or even "Selling chocolate chip cookies, 20k each" is still a terms of service violation, and will still lead to account sanctions.

And this is also bannable under our Terms of Service. Items sent between accounts with no in-game consideration allows us to assume and punish as if such a transaction has taken place.

My point was that the only people who are going to mention Zeevex anywhere are going to do it outside Rom's system. It looks something like this:

"WTS X item. Whisper for price."

^See that? Nowhere was the word Zeevex mentioned. The seller then asks the buyer to speak with them via IM or Teamspeak, Ventrillo, etc. (which happens a lot). That's where the word Zeevex comes up. At no point is it mentioned via the ROM mail system, whisper window, chat windows, etc.

If the item or gold is sold for zeevex, it is then sent through the mail system. If it's an item, for all Gameforge knows, it was a gift or a payback of a previous debt owed. If it's gold, it's either sent using a somewhat bogus transaction in the AH or is sent over a specific period of time so as not to arouse Gameforge's suspicions.

Seems like a lot of work for a little payoff, right? Except that Rusty was incorrect. Zeevex CAN in fact be sold for real world money, there are any number of Ebay auctions up on the tokens right now. Even if it gets banned from Ebay, they can still be sold through Craigslist or any number of other auction sites.

Look, I'm not trying to get Zeevex banned from the game for good. We'd lose way too many players who are using it legitimately for the purpose it was intended for. But I'm nowhere near ignorant enough to think that trading zeevex for gold is going to stop completely- there are too many ways to do the transaction without the parent company even getting a hint that Zeevex is involved.

As a result, you have a decision to make. Is it worth it, both financially and in terms of customer service, to alienate someone who was legitimately using zeevex on in-game purchases in order to prevent abuse of the system?

Imho, the answer to that question is no. With as many people who buy and use zeevex for the game, and who enjoy the added benefits of using Zeevex here, trying to restrict trading of one resource for another is going to do more harm than good.
In a world of black, white, and grey... I'd be bright friggin' purple. M/P on Reni.

Really? So the guy with 1 billion gold because he runs ToSH hard and AC daily is going to just keep it to himself because he has to buy CS items directly now instead of buying Zeevex? wth would he do that, gold is worth nothing if you don't intend to spend it... and not like he is going to buy stuff off AH either, he (or she) is the one supplying AH.

Why not also ban buying/selling diamonds in world? Why enforce just this tidbit, instead of being consistent with your TOS and banning all forms of being "currency" (diamonds)?

Thanks for this this Mandrakes.
