Weird World of World Bosses

On Artemis weird stuff seems to be going on with the world bosses, Hippo spawned less than 72 hours after it was killed on two channels, then while waiting for the Channel 2 Hippo we lost Ch2.

So now we only have 1 channel for Hippo and 1 channel for Mandara, is this sort of thing going on with other servers?

Havent tested any others zones besides going from dalanis to terg bay, all of those have turned into only 1 channel on Osha also.

Edit: Rorazan and chrysalia are also only 1 channel.

I noticed hippo respawning a lot more than every 3 days, but then a guildy pointed out it was probably because of server reboots... not sure if you have taken that in to account. Probably, probably only I'm the noob that didn't :)

Yes, one channel only for Mandara on Reni. That is pretty bleh imo... now even less chance for elites for those guilds that only have the right people on once a day to even try to kill them sigh.

I wonder if this has anything to do with the weird little micro-updates that we've been getting from the launcher since 5.03 patch.

So many undocumented changes lately :(

Yes, it's been about 77ish hours since the server reboot at the time I'm posting this right now (reboot always resets Boss timers).

Either way it sucks to get kicked log back on and Ch2 just seems to be missing, the only channel that hippo was gonna spawn at (since the other two died).

Well atleast this time I didn't wait 7 hours for the hippo to be late and find out that my guild had fallen asleep, all I can say is hopefully that this will be fixed by next patch or soon, either one works.

Not gonna be surprised either way if this was intentional or not. Population overall is pretty low, there really is no need for 3 channels in any zone aside from having extra attempts at downing certain npc's. Chances are, the same guild is going to be downing them all channel after channel anyways, so it makes very little difference from those who aren't in that particular party themselves.

Hopefully its unintentional, but wouldn't be surprised if it was intended. This is RoM, after all.

Maybe that's how it is on your server, but there are atleast 4 or 5 guilds capable of downing Hippo on Artemis, might even be 6.

It's a competition to get to the spawn first, with less channels it's even more of a competition.

Hell there are problems already on our server with one particular guild trying to steal Hippo away from other guilds when they're already fighting it citing the reason "Hippo doesn't belong to you".

Seems sort of stupid in general that you can just taunt the boss to get it away from the tank of another guild, but eh that's how RoM's system works.

Do world bosses work differently than regular mobs? i.e. you can take the aggro from me if you want, but I, (he who aggroed first), am still the one that gets to loot...?

No, and it shouldn't, but due to the Gale that hippo casts, could wipe healers/entire raids if its being Tug-of-War'd.

Atleast on Reni I think guilds have enough respect to not do that sort of thing. Reputation goes a long way.

The only issue we have on palenque is the fact that there was 3 channels... 3 big guilds that can do hippo, we had an agreement to have a certain channel for each guild. now this is gonna do nothing but cause drama for our server more so then we even need. =\

Also @ Raves the other thing is that you can start dragging the Hippo like DL did to SJ and just pull it out of range, I don't know if it force immunes it or not and causes it to be able to heal, but there's a strong possibility that it does. But yeah that caused SJ's tank to wipe that time I remember (I don't know if their healer wiped or not, I tried to follow the dude to try and give him some heals but didn't make it over in time, this was the day my guild fell asleep waiting for Hippo lol)

That day was hilarious actually I sat around waiting for 7 hours or something like that for Hipp to spawn since it was the one day where I had the time then it finally died and Schwabi ninja looted SJ and no one got their Proof of Bravery, was a day I should've been mad but I was so sleep deprived all I could do was laugh.

Today Hipp spawned early though and DL tried to kill my guild from what I heard (this was before I woke up) and Reputation really means nothing in this game to be honest, DL does far worse. It prolly pisses some people off but at this point I've stopped caring about them that much, if I care Dazer wins.

Inb4 forum rule about saying names/guilds and what not

well the different chs offer more then just the world bosses... such as herbs/ores/lumbers now we can't continiously farm them back to back :(

Just another sad example from Eu side about the sad state of this game. Imo, they should just get rid of world bosses, because they were intended to get players to coorporate, and instead, people are killing each other rather than killing the boss.

It just seems like people are forgetting the point of RoM: For fun.

I've noticed this a while back, some people seem to look at the game as real life and forget to enjoy it.

Sad, because even with all the problems, Rom is a very enjoyable game.

Problem with the WB are that they provide an opportunity to obtain "OP" gear for 1 person in the party that kills it. This naturally creates a competition for the people that are able to kill it, basically "Whoever farms the most will be the most OP". This creates a bigger issue with the people trying to get elite skills. Besides the fact that the World bosses spawn once every 3 days and now there is only 1 channel to kill them in, their bodies don't stay on the ground long enough for most people to obtain their quest item.

Here's a solution:

-Bring back the 3 channels
-Upon killing the world boss, make everyone in the party obtain ONE (1) Proof of Legend.
-Also Upon killing the boss, give a 24 hour debuff for everyone in the party that disables them from attacking any other World boss for the remaining time on the debuff.
-Once the world boss is killed, make the body remain on the ground for a period of 24 hours.

What this will do is provide everyone with proof of legends (instead of one person), Allow everyone an opportunity to complete their elite quest, lower the urge to "farm" the WB for the 10 PoL's.

Be grateful you are not on a PVP-server where it is FFA.

Players like me, controlled the world bosses exclusively.

If you cannot gather 10+ people to kill me (or at points my guild). Then you are not going to get that event.

If people want to organise the World Bosses, don't try to be the ones who are ignoring it. They took the effort to share, what do you expect will happen if all of a sudden the strongest guild takes it.

yep, FFA on PVE just means the fastest will win. And the fastest is usually found within the well organized strong guilds who can pull kill-on-spawn off. So schedules are actually better but some people always think "wtf? youre telling me when to do something? but its ffa!!!11" "ok you want ffa you get ffa...." and then they come back and complain again ... :)
