There is a cm event going on but only for high lvl toons.this is not a good time for new toons.

The event happened yesterday on Govinda. Gave some decent foods, but nothing that isn't already available in game. No dumplings.

Translation in English - this 'holiday' sucks...

There were several similar events before and none of them AFAIK gave dumplings. They don't give those anymore. They also don't give Laor anymore so whatever people already have from the last (as far as I know the only) time is all that they have.

I got well over 10 mil worth of high level foods and other buffs, far more generous than the previous food giveaways. OTOH, the chests were far and few between this time and the mobs were brutal compared to the other events. People were dying right and left. Alas, my suggestion that those of us who have died 5 or 6 times really deserve grand golden repair hammer was not heeded.

I do find it interesting that the food which is of no real use to anyone besides tanks is looked at as a highly desirable item that everyone drools over. So, what do non-tanks do with it? Looking at AH, I can see clear answer to the reason why people like those. What we got instead is a selection of buffs useful for most classes. Obviously, a huge disappointment to get something useful.

The one main importance of rice dumplings was its use for entry phase to new content. It allowed the tank if he was not sufficiently geared to be able to somewhat handle the content. We all know that it is not an OP item.. yes 30% pdef boost for 30mins but if you died the buff is gone.. 1m gold down the drain.

Most of us still have a decent supply of them because we aren't tanks and we save them for our runs to give to the tank. As tempting as it is to sell its lack of availability pushers me away from getting rid of it.

Some of us non-tanks actually use egg rice during runs, siege, arena, etc. So yes, some of us who do use them are a bit disappointed that they werent given away, as per usual in halloween events. Part of my enjoyment is not being 1 shot fodder in siege (the real reason i play, its fun, yeah its broken, but its fun), hence why I use egg rice.

Not only siege, but it has its uses in PvE as well. There have been many times that a tank has died (for whatever reason, the usual would be boulders off 4th tosh) and a P/K tanks the boss from 60-0, or 40-0, or what have you. And yes, even I have tanked ToSH bosses with a last second egg rice use +wand/shield equip and changing to pdef food. Egg rice isn't all about greed. Some of us DO use it for our own self enjoyment, whatever it may be.

I dont see a problem in handing them out tbh. People sell them, so what? It gives a nice boost to those who arent as fortunate to make easy gold like some of us do. And those of us (well, not me. I'm always poor, but i buy when I can) who have the gold, can spend it. Egg Rice is a relief for both sides. Availability for one, and a source of income for the other.

And yes, I would take egg rice over common, craftable items anyday. Not saying I don't thank the CMs for the free handouts, its nice, and thank you. But I'm fairly certain its common knowledge that a larger group want Egg Rice.

What really sucks about those GM events is that they are on working days during working hours. So far haven't seen any of them, and most likely will not see any of them...

As for wanting tank food, have you seen someone sign stating 'will tank for rice dumpling' anywhere??

Encouraging people to complain on forums is kinda like encouraging alcoholic to have just one more drink.

Not that this is a bad complaint, mind you. Early times for such events are inconvenient for those of us who are gainfully employed.
