Is my computer different?

I've been trying out most of the free options to inprove FPS that has seemed to work for a lot of people, some recent ones like Gamebooster, changing graphics to 16 bit, and just installed Ikarus not too long ago, and so far, none of them has really improved my FPS at all, and Ikarus is dropping my FPS instead. :(

Why, yes. All of forum dwellers intimately familiar with your computer configuration can see the difference right away.

IIIRC, you had an older computer, and not sure ikarus should help.

One thing that helped me is zzinfobar. - much better then other solutions like xbar with more options.

cleanmeme as mentioned before does help.

Are you running windowed mode and at what settings?

Recently I started to play sw @ low settings, full screen and while running at least one another client (sometimes two) I still rarely go bellow 60 FPS. (only with many players around)

I have not try this on old computer yet, will test it sometimes later.

I don't think my computer is that old yet, just don't have the $$ to get a video card (which is why I'm trying out all these free options), so still using the Express Chipset that Kalvan says is only good for Solitare :D

I'm using Full screen, and I get the same FPS with windows mode. I play with everything unchecked except hide effects and auto adjust settings (or something like that), graphic settings set to low (so basically, every bar lowered to as long as it can go, except textures, which I raised to 50% since it has only dropped me an average of 0.5 FPS :D)

I'll go try out cleanmeme now.

And trolololo Rustyx.

Come on Cyber Monday buy yourself a video card; http://slickdeals.net/

You can find a good deal and save some cash rather easily, that's my solution.

Using a chipset sucks, it's nice if you're looking for low power consumption and you don't play any games (or farm bitcoins :o) but beyond that the solution you're looking for is a nice cheap graphics card, there's no reason to get a fancy one for RoM. You can get one that runs RoM decently for $20-30

Too bad you don't get paid to go to school :( Otherwise I'd buy one lol.

And just had a thought... can I use Pando Media Booster to boost RoM? It came with another game that I downloaded, and that game runs at 20-30 FPS even on nicer graphics, but Pando has its own seperate folder and isn't inside that game's folder, so i have no idea how to use it on RoM (copying folders and pasting them inside RoM's folders is the only thing I know how to do, and will not seem to work here).

Given that the program is torrent-lite method for downloading large files, I would say no to that idea.

Sometimes the only solution for not having proper hardware is getting proper hardware.

Pando Media Booster is a p2p application used to download game clients and nothing more.

If you are having FPS issues using an integrated graphics card. It is time to upgrade, you can get a cheap 550TI for ~99$ + MIR. (79$)

It's one of the best graphics cards for your money.

No, Pando has no effect with RoM, it's used by other games, as mrmisterwaa said. Not all of them are necessarily P2P--LOTRO and DDO come to mind, bolth can be F2P or pay-as-you-go. LOTRO and DDO are designed to use Pando, and their basic game engine is more efficient and newer than RoM's is.

And yes, your integrated chipset is suitable for playing Solitaire, but is lousy for playing RoM. If you can, take Kef's advice and get a relatively inexpensive dedicated PCIe x16 video card for $20-$30. It doesn't have to be the latest a greatest, but it will be far better than the gimped video you have now.

Depending on the size of your monitor you can run windowed, but at a lower rez. You get a smaller image that runs smoother than either windowed or full screen.

When you're using crap, nothing will make that crap better.

Except for getting better crap.

Lol, Pando actually makes you lag more if it's open while you're in a game. Hence why most people uninstall immediately after installing whatever game required it. It does nothing positive for you at all; it's merely for downloading.

And no, your FPS will always suck while using an integrated chip. I'm on one as well, though I'm working toward an actual computer. The game is badly coded to begin with -- it'll even lag out some people with high end computers, in some areas -- so don't count on ever having decent FPS with hardware like that.

Unless you're just standing in your house or something.

Meh. If I was poor, I still think I could afford $12-$15 it takes to get 5450 of 6450. Sure, old and by now obsolete cards, but at that price range, they will beat pants of integrated graphics on a budget.
