Is RoM a good game to go solo on?

I've moved to RoM from LotRO because I was sick of the fact that hardly anything could be done well without a group of friends. I've never much cared for the teamwork aspect of these games so much as I simply enjoy the click-to-attack gameplay style. Does it ever reach a point where you just absolutely need a team mate to progress?

Questing can be done solo, and most of us do it solo. But instances will require a group of 6-12 usually, except for when you are way outgeared/outleveled for that instance.

In terms of PvP, you have the option to solo on a PvP server or in arena (few people do arena anymore though), but the main PvP that a huge portion of the population in game participates in - Siege, is done with your guild, and teamwork/strategy, and coordination will help. But I guess you could find a guild thats relaxed about siege, and just do your own solo thing as well, away from where your guildies are.

I am so similiar... I wish Rom was offline or sp play too.
I prefer the soloable classes (scout/priest,rogue/priest,mage/priest) and I am pretty capable in most situations so it does depend of what classes you pick (priest/knight would have a hard time going through all the content)

There are places that you do need a team like siege war and instances. Siege war you get titles nowhere else available in the game. And instances you can still buy the gears from them if you have ways of making gold.

I farm dailies, cards, runes and loots and generate gold that way and have saved up to buy gears many times.
I am in a guild as I do like siege and the titles but I pretty much mostly just farm, dailies and siege with my characters that I play lately. Run instances when I feel like it. The gameplay of Rom does suit my lifestyle (have kids...need to afk at any given time) So I farm and put my char to safe spot when that happens.

Yes, you can play this game solo for quite some time before it becomes hard enough to "need" help. Even then, it could be done if you would be willing to grind some extra levels out.

You will need help in instances, on RENI you would find a lot of helpful people. But questing is pretty much solo, just need a good weapon and some gear.

just a minor nit Zid; the OP does not "need" to do instances.

To add to my earlier post, there is a great big world out there to explore solo, you can quest, explore, craft, do events, all can be done solo for the most part. Nothing wrong with calling out for help if you find a tough spot to clear, or you can try different strategies etc., go for that lucky crit, yes...

If, however, you are one of those that need to flex their epeen, get to end game right away, etc...well, that would be extremely tough to do solo; not impossible, just tough.

oh it's super easy to solo.
the quest line will get you all the way to 75.
While doing so farm mini games/eoj for stats/gear.
Then with just some gold to buy dias for puris/plussers.
end game character that can solo bones nest, done.

My guild may not like it but I'm very much a solo player

Auros, OP's don't need to do instances, but in Disturbed we do, we run them for the lower levels from our guild and even other guilds. Get them gear, set skills XP and TP, just to give a hand and making them appreciate the game and enjoy it.

You can do all of the lower level stuff solo, and as the game gets older, there is more and more of that. There is plenty to keep you busy for many many hours. You can pick how hard you want things to be, the more gear you get, the easier it will be. You'll just be doing stuff at a much higher level than normal. For example, if an instance/quest/boss is normally done at lvl 25, you'll be doing it around lvl50 to 75 depending on how hard you want it to be. The more gear you get, the easier... but if just doing things solo all the time, will be hard to get gear quickly because you need gold for that, and fast gold is mostly mento spam currently, and you'll need a party for that unless you want it to be really slow (since you won't be OP already).
