map issue

No addons installed and there are no quests showing on my map. They show on the minimap window, but no quests of any kind on the main map window. Any ideas how to fix this?

I've tried completely deleting anything rom and a re-install and neither have worked. It's been going on for about two weeks and server restarts haven't fixed it.

You didn't specify your level or the level of the zone(s) you were in. However, open your map and click the Setup button in the upper right of the map frame. Find the listing for Show Quests Options and make sure that Hide Low Level Quests is unchecked.

What level are you and what level are the quests? I think that has an effect (not sure, been years since I run without Wowmaps).

Edit: Darn it! Cactus beat me by a few seconds and had more info to boot.

I have no quests on my map for ANY level or for ANY zone. I've done the whole uncheck "hide low level" and that isn't it. I'm talking about zones I was questing in no longer have any quests on the map. There are literally ZERO quests showing on any map what so ever. No one time quests, no dailies, no events, NOTHING. It doesn't matter what zone I go into, there is NOTHING on my map.

BTW I've tried it with wowmaps installed and that doesn't change anything, there are still zero quests showing on any map.

this sounds like a corrupted file associated to the maps.worst case scenario a complete re install.(i know you dont wanna do this but it may be an easy fix although a long one)

same problem here since the last patch, I posted over on http://forum.us.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php?t=72109 last week, got no replies tho =(
Wish I knew which file it was though that's corrupted so I know what to replace coz I got another copy of RoM on my laptop that doesn't have the problem I have on my PC but it's buggy for other reasons.....(downloading & reinstalling it 3x didn't fix the screenshot problem & tried all the advice from the forums, didn't fix anything)

If it started after the last patch, then you'll need to re-patch manually.

I've seen the lack of quest icons on maps fixed by re-installing or upgrading display drivers. It doesn't work every time, but surely it's worth a try?

well I just did a completely fresh install and it did not fix the issue. I'm having a friend try to send me some individual folders I'm hoping will fix it.

client is bugged

I posted in another thread about issues with quests not showing on my map, I just noticed that the icons for my 60 and 70 elite skills are not showing up. I'm wondering if anyone else is having these issues. I've checked both accounts I have, both with their 60 and 70 elite skills and both are having this issue. My thoughts are that their was a bug introduced in the last patch that only affects those with 60 and/or 70 elite skills. Can those that have both confirm they are having problems or not. Also, if you have just your 60 elites, are you having the same issues? I'm wondering if this is the same bug that is affecting guild chat currently.

It is specific to either toon or client. My 60s are showing up properly. 70s, I am still working on (grumble, grumble, stupid dragon babysitting quest).

Hard to tell anything from the images, they are too scaled down to be legible. It would be better to use 3rd party hosting if there is any visual info to be conveyed; but I guess in this case they are meant to be a proof of what was said, not additional source of information.

It's not unique to any one client. I have tested it using two independent copies of rom and logging into each one and both are showing the same. I only used the images to show that the map settings aren't hiding quests and the 2nd map is just plain blank for Chrysalia. The 3rd and 4th are showing the icons for the elites not showing up, so not really much info, more like visual proof of what's happening.

Can you ask around in game and see if anyone else is having issues.

I already repatched it manually the day after the game was updated, didn't fix the problem =/

I presume the obvious step of removing both relevant savevariables.lua files (client-specific and character-specific) was done already, right?

Nobody I know is having this problem, but I don't know too many people that well, so you might or might not be alone.

I've had the issue of quests not showing up before a couple months back, but it fixed itself with the next patch and haven't had the issue again.

I've had this happen twice, in both cases a simple reboot fixed it. I play on a laptop and hardly ever reboot (I just use the hibernate feature). Good luck!

Sorry to mention the obvious if you have already tried it... I've had this happen twice, a couple years ago, and also a few months ago. Both times a simple reboot was all I needed. I only mention it because a lot of techies such as myself never try it because we are "smart enough" to know that should never fix a problem like this, as long as the process has ended it shouldn't matter. I was pretty embarrassed when it worked (especially since the guy that recommended it the first time was such a fail), but not so much to share the experience with others. Good luck.

To be specific, especially if the issue is limited to a single character:

Navigate to the "hidden" RoM data folder that lives inside your My Documents folder. Find and delete the folder for the affected character. Log back into the game and see if your maps and elite skills have been restored.

Yes, when I did a complete fresh install I also made sure to delete the rom folder in my documents. Unless there is a third place rom is hiding files everything was removed.

This has been going on since the last patch for me. I've rebooted numerous times since then and no fix.
