Well done Gameforge :)

So had a friend here today and convinced him to start playing rom.

We created his email and account and away went went power leveling him.

6 hours in he d/c'd tryed to log back in and his account is suspended please contact support.

All he has done all day is sit in a corner while i kill things and sussing things out on my alt.

So well done gameforge 1 potential player lost due to stupidity, coz really if that's the encounter he can expect after 6-7 hours of playing what incentive does he have to continue playing?

Yeah, the whole "we created his email and account" and "All he has done all day is sit in a corner while I kill things" is absolutely not suspicious at all. Not at all. Nothing there to trigger a warning. That is how most people got their start, powerleveled from a brand new account on a brand new toon.

It is also a great loss, not having such a capable individual in the game.

Gotta agree with OP. "1 potential player lost due to stupidity" is a good way to describe the situation.

It if you both were playing the characters should be explained to RoM. He will get his character back soon. I do hope till then you can convince him that this is a worthy game. I think the thread will be closed soon but vfwiffo you are way out of line here. You should keep youir narrow minded views to yourself.

lets be honest from where a toon logs on will not get you suspended lets not act like thats the reason

Gee wiffo, guess you never encourage people to play games and help them out? Idea is get him leveled quick so he can enjoy the game.. like wow lv 55 - 60 to start questing the mainline (keeping in mind Morrok line is bugged any way) makes someone an incapable player?

Questing is great for some people others prefer raiding.

Account has been unblocked, no response from support but guess we can start playing again

Absolutely, I help people when I can.

A horribly bad idea at that. ROM, as most games, is a game of progression. When there is no progression, there is no game.

I take it then you don't approve of the honor party mechanic.

Progression is one thing, being bored to tears is something completely different.

I use it often enough; to level alts, of course, my own and other people's. I would never do anything that cruel to a real person.

I played the game for 2.5 years, so I find the process of going through the same parts of game again familiar and repetitive. But that was because I done it already, so for me to do it again gets boring. If I had not done it, I would absolutely go through the progression. Going to the end game without going through game is not playing the game.

i have to agree with wiffo, you shouldn't be powerleveling a new player. powerleveling does 2 things, it makes you miss game content, and it makes high level fools that dunno how to play their character
I have come to the conclusion that people are stupid (in general you have 1 smart person for every 19 stupid people)

Agree with MR. Pink Hat. Power leveling new player (main character) never worked well.

* First, they don't know where to start off with quests.

* They don't know how to play their character

* Their weapon skills are 0 or close, meaning they will have more problems down the road as result

* They will miss content and have no idea what they are doing.

Now, your friend might be in better position, as you can answer all his questions, but again, I would never power level new player. Done that once, he left game next week.

Nicely put. Why start a 1000 piece puzzle if 950 pieces are put together already?

Should not be bannable, nor frowned upon (imo) but I'm not here to say you are lame for plvling, just want to ask what is going on over in Germany. Seriously.

(btw I think itd be frogster who banned the person, not gameforge)

So you are "learning" the game and your class when you are leveling from 0-50? 950 pieces out of 1000?
Are you guys for real?
The only thing you learn from 0-50 if how to run around the zones. You will not even learn a decent rotation you will be doing later.
For anyone remotely familiar with MMOs it takes a week to learn any class combo in RoM. It's not hard. 90% of learning happens when you get close to the level cap.
And you are brining up this when the issue reported in the original post is autobanning of new accounts?! I guess with community like this, RoM deserves everything that's coming to it.

Back to the real issue. Autobanning of new accounts. What's up with that?

i'd have to disagree with 6 of your points...which is pretty much all of them.

0-50 provides a unique learning experience, learning the skills as the game presents the new ones...

and yeah, no point in a 1000 piece puzzle if 950 already together...y not just call it a 50 piece puzzle?

rotation is all about finding the skills that you use the most, and figuring out how you can maximize them...a low lvl mage doesn't go all the way up to endgame questing with just using meteor shower, then goes "wtf? flame is better dps? i never thought about that!"

and if u can learn ur optimum class statting, rotation, buffs, and gear in a week(besides the FotM combos...and even with some, like r/s, many people have no idea it's full potential), then ur not the almighty god you think you are, just saying...

90% of learning how to be endgame happens close to lvl cap..."endgame" is at lvl cap, so only 1 lvl out of 75, which means only 1.33% of the game is "endgame"

and yes, pick a complex/hybrid combo, make it work...it is hard

all in all, you are making the generalization that everyone is attempting to be "endgame" and everyone is playing a FotM class...just because you are does not mean you are the gold standard for a RoM player...and i use the term "endgame" loosely
my r/p can outdps r/m. your name is stupid.

I'm not one for power lvling players.. But auto banning new players ,is just bad .

It takes all of, what, 2 days to hit 50 now with CoO/Xaviera (or less, if you're not only playing for a few hours)? Is that really so long to wait? New players can already powerlevel themselves.

Not saying that it's right for support to block the account, since there was no reason to, but hiding behind such a poor excuse as that he's too lazy to level his own character because he wants to get to cap before playing is stupid. Missing most of the content in the game (level-wise) makes me wonder why people even bother playing games. If you don't like the leveling experience, why play an MMORPG at all? That's what they're made of.

I don't see a problem with powerleveling someone who's leveled a character the old fashioned way before, but for new players it's just spoiling them. They won't get how to do anything in the game, and how hard the gearing process really is doesn't hit you until you're right there having to start on it. How can you tell if you actually like a game without playing it? Its CS-intensive nature puts a lot of people off when they try RoM, but you usually get to experience other aspects of it while leveling -- those that actually keep us veterans playing, even while we complain about how horribly OP the cash shop is.

Just powerleveling to 55 and jumping right to gearing doesn't really sound fun to me. Oh boy, I really get to grind dog meat/Kalin's/minigames for weeks/months on end for all the stats/diamonds/gold/runes needed to gear up and do raids?! Exciting, amirite? I bet he'll be glad he skipped all the fun and went right to that.

Not to mention he won't even know if he likes his chosen class until higher levels, which is something people usually get a feel for by the time they're 50, at most. Y'know, since they actually play.

I think power leveling new people is a great idea. The sooner they get to lvl 55 and realize how much progressing further is going to cost the more time they have to find a new game to play :)

Seriously though, suspending a new account just for playing is way off base.

The fact that you and others are writing pages and pages of crap expressing your personal feelings on powerleveling and subject matter of the game says that you are.

The topic is autobanning of new accounts. Stay on it.

Who cares about powerlevelling... You don't learn squat levelling anyway. You don't stat up optimally when levelling, you don't use the same rotations when levelling that you will use in instances while levelling. You can go and spam one skill and kill everything in the game that you need to level.

Let's not make the impression that levelling makes you learn anything.. it doesn't. Levelling makes you learn how to click accept quest, go to another point, and complete quest.

And yes, rotations/statting/optimal gear can ALL be learned in a week, easily. Hell a lot of classes your optimal rotation is already put together in a nice neat little DIYCE for you anyway, and if it's not, optimal rotations are all over the forums and guilds. Optimal statting is as easy as going to the forum or asking a guildie and seeing "Oh, I use X number of Dex/Pa and X Number of Stam/Pa? And do that on every piece? Good deal." 10 Minutes, maybe.

The game really starts at level 75 anyway. Everything before that is nothing.

Problem with all the dont power lvl him post is this. Morrok line is bugged, so if he'd like to get to level cap anytime in the next month he will probably have to spend money on daily reset tickets, you know the paid for version of power leveling.

I agree questing in this game doesn't teach you much at all, kill 10 of x, go click that sparkly thing, ride over here.

The downside to power lvling is the tp drain it presents.
