As to why it doesn't get updated early in the morning after a patch is issued, it's because some of us--myself, specifically--don't get up at the crack o' dawn here in the US. But I'm pretty good about getting it updated as quickly as I can.
Now, for your corruption issues...
As I've said numerous times, there are some anti-malware programs that are overly-aggressive and have issues with certain characters in filenames. This is a holdover when, back in the day, many malware "packages" used $ as a character in their internal files. This character is rarely, or no longer used in those nasty little things, but
some anti-malware programs still look for it and will either delete or quarantine any file they find.
Our installation and patch files still use the $ character in their temporary files--as they're uncompressed in preparation for installation--and some anti-malware programs key on them and...well, you get the idea. Some third-party firewall programs do the same thing. Windows Firewall, however, does not, and is at least as good as any third-party firewall program.
So, if might be a good idea to
temporarily disable your anti-malware program, and possibly your firewall, when installing the game or installing patches. Re-enable it/them after patching.
Or, find another anti-malware program that isn't as aggressive or intrusive.
