Great game, fail management. There is end-game but only if you invest either lots of time or lots of money. And the way management is handling this game, there wont be a game left soon.

Plenty of endgamers around, and as most people who have been around for a while, they tend to complain for hours to anyone who will listed. Just turn off their hearing aid and they won't bother you.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

You siege

Yup you siege, the devs have this habit of making instances so difficult you must spend alot of time, or alot of money, or you can be dragged through by people who spent time or money. But then you are going to need money to plus all that gear. It used to not be this way. But I've pretty much given up on RoM so I just siege.

re: instances

These really have been a problem ever since ch. 2, really. I wonder if the devs have an issue of focus? Like, they can't decide what classes the "new zone instance" should be for?

Maybe the devs need to take time to figure out maybe 3 or 4 instances of the same level from here on out. Kinda like zs/dl/hos - those 3 instances are run a lot even today and they're all lvl 55's. Maybe the draw here is that they can only be run once per day? I dunno.

Basically, we have 3 races w/ specialty classes and I'm sure the devs are trying to figure out gimmicks in each of the instances to force people to use special skills from those specialty classes. I think 3 seperate instances will help alleviate some of that problem. If each of the races had their own main storylines, it could be like playing 3 different games by changing races.

ie... knights & priests would be human specialty classes, wardens and druids would be the elf specialty classes & champions and warlocks are the dwarf specialty classes. The skills they use would be the main gimmicks used in the new instances.

that would be the design for easy/normal since they are 6-man instances, but hard mode would be 12-man instances requiring gimmicks from all races.

tldr; make 3 instances that are geared towards each of the races. any race, any class can run them but they are designed for each of the races.

^You'd only have one or two, 6 man raids of dwarves on each server btw

So basically what you guys are saying is that there is no pve endgame with Rom really. Its just pvp sieges unless you want to fork out real money for stuff to raid. Is this correct?

No. You don't have to fork out real money to run endgame, it just helps. Alot. With the amount of time. I personally have only spent around 20-30 bucks on my toon and my toon is one of the best geared healers on Reni.

Also.. with siege... if you want to be good at siege you're still gonna have to fork out money or lots of time or you'll get rolled over by those who have.

Even of you choose not to spend buckloads of $$ in this game, that doesn't mean there's no PvE once you hit level cap. The Easy mode for every instance is there for a reason - and some of them are quite fun to run. You can also try normal mode and hardmode of older, lower level instances, some of which are still very difficult, and drop decent loot. (ex. best mage accessories available atm drop in VN - which is level 62, and second best drops in GCH, level 65 - current level cap is 77).

it just means you won't be running the newest instance on Hardmode, which is fine by me.

Thanks for all the info. I'm just concerned about lack of pve content at endgame. I've been playing WoW for 8 years and taken time off because of lack of content several times (this being one of them again) and I just want to make sure that this game has something to offer once I do hit lvl cap. I prefer playing caster dps or pve tank so this all helps with helping me decide if I'm going to level a caster or a tank for endgame. I might do both but if there's decent pve content I'll do a tank.

WoW has more content with its raids/scenarios/heroics. Think of rom end game as being 1-2 heroics you constantly farm at end game. The difficulty is greater, but only because of how easily a party can wipe (mobs hit hard, most dps and some heals cant take more than 1-2 hits). If youre looking for quantity in content, go back now.

Often times, acquiring equipment and stats isn't the hard part of becoming an end-game player.

With the jump in difficulty of instances (see TOSH, KBN etc.) there's a jump in the quality of the equipment you should be wearing. The days of wearing T4 statted armor are pretty much over and T5 statted is frowned upon. End-gamers are often seen with their statted equipment pieces at T6 or greater. On top of that, armor that people used to keep at +12 is more often than not pushed to +16 with the once-in-a-blue-moon enhanced jewel sales.

That being said, being end-game is very purified fusion stone heavy. If you are expecting to go entirely F2P, by the time you are half geared for the latest instance, a new zone, new gear, and new stats will be released and you'll be left in the dust. If you pay for diamonds, you'll be able to make your gear a lot more easily. And when it becomes outdated, just sell it to some nub.

All in all, you don't HAVE to spend money to get end game gear, but it takes a hell of a lot of time off of gearing.

You'll probably want to go tank - there are some tank classes, like Warden/Warrior and Champion/Rogue, that do almost equal or better DPS then casters, and can still tank very well.

LOL you DO NOT want to be a tank for your first character

to be a tank you need super OD OD gear and of course skills to be able to play a tank... tanks are one of the worst class to play in this game LOL

if you have average gear with average stats.... cant do much with a tank ... sure the stats for tanks are alot easier to get, getting OD GEAR is a bit problematic cause u dont want to spend golden repairs zzzz

besides there is no such thing as being end game, in another few months new content have to regear restat its a waste of money LOL and time..

and yar not much to do once u reach level cap have semi decent gear... you usually just go afk in a guild joke around, troll around, log in log out, do dailies mini games, back at afk again... and and if youre lucky enough to have active guild where alot of people actually play in your timezone then yay u get to go on runs... but only if and only you are gear enough...
then you realize oh well. lets go afk again LOL

siege is about the only fun thing left in the game, 1 hour of pwn others or getting your buttocks kick clean
then u go afk again LOL
