Information flow

Quoted from "Laghmara;590960"

Hi there,

sure we'd love to hear your feedback for upcoming events, especially for rune exchange events. Why not agree on hashtag #RoMEvent for Event suggestions and we use it as well to tell you guys when a new event is starting?

Looking forward to your Tweets!
Laghmara

Lol @ this post we all know nobody gives a crap about the u.s. servers. And explain why info cant be relayed on official website or official forums,i would like to know.

Hey timthum,

this is a little off Topic, don't you think?
Info on official website is the same for AU/EU/US, except for country specific news (e.g. german community spotlight), and ofc there are some time zone related things, AU guys are 9 hours ahead to our offices local time, you guys are 9 hours later. So if we decide to post sth. at 3pm, we will always post it local time of the region, so for AU we'd post at 6am here, for EU at 3pm, for US midnight our time.
And here comes the forum problem: while we can schedule postings at the website at Twitter and at Facebook, we can't in the forums. So if we don't have volunteers or are able to post from home or sth. we can't provide you with copies.

If you want to help, you're always welcome to apply as a mentor for the team. I'll ask IT if we can find a solution like an automatically copy of the website news into the forum, but I can't promise anything.

Back to topic:

Ofc we take your suggestions for Events here in the forums and at Facebook as well. But I think Twitter is a pretty good Idea. When we're checking in the team for new events, we can always search Twitter for #RoMEvent and we'll find all the ideas you've sent to us via Twitter. I really love that :)

im confused ....how was i off topic? i replied to a post that you made.if you can schedule postings on the website and facebook why cant you schedule to post on the forums? there needs to ONE PLACE TO GET ALL INFO.
many players dont have time to be looking in multiple places for upcoming news.in all reality it takes 5 minutes to make a post on these forums.
if you guys are having trouble keeping up maybe you should consider merging all forums.

on topic, i dont like the idea of using twitter to find out information for this game.it is unnecessary as we already have official forums and website. and why would anyone want to help as a mentor on the forums?they are the same mushrooms as us .......kept in the dark and fed poop.

Well, your comment about nobody giving a hoot about the US servers seems to have been rather off-topic, considering the subject of the thread. That's how I interpret Laghmara's response to you, anyway.

Well, some of us don't use Twitter or Facebook, so I'd tend to agree that having info posted either on the website's main page and/or in a forum post works far better for me. I personally don't trust Facebook and Twitter seems too intrusive to me. It took me almost a year to get used to MSN Messenger--which we no longer use. Hah. :D

I'm sure you're familiar with the aphorism about old dogs and new tricks, so...

And hey, we Mentors get somewhat better-quality poop. Kind of "Five Guys Burgers" quality as opposed to "McDonalds". It's not quite as good as the "In 'n Out" poop they get in Berlin, but it's pretty decent. :D

ummmmm what? you can schedule everything but your own forums........ this would probably be better in a pm but im positive that Laghmara is too good to take the time to take pms from us here on the u.s.
how is it possible that i can use my phone to all of this from anywhere that i have a signal or wifi yet gameforge cannot? i did in fact offer to help in any way i could but then we lost all of our u.s. staff.and well we are the bastard child of the rom world so we get nothing.......no news no updates no love .............just reprimands when we speak our thoughts. o and did i mention minimum of 5 count them 1-2-3-4-5- days before getting a reply from support.
i would love for Gameforge to prove me wrong.......sadly this wont happen.
i used to love loggin in the forums to get updates on the game and what specials were coming up.......i also used to spend money to get items that i wanted.but no more.

Actually, announcements such as weekend sales, diamond sales, and maintenance/patches do get placed on the forums, as well as on the website's main page. (Yes, I know there have been issues with some of the news items not displaying as they should, and there's nothing I can do about that, other than to let the CMs know about it when I notice it.)

As I said above, the site and the forums do get announcements, but they might be harder to find or read, depending on the device you're using. Even though I frequently feel old enough to have experienced soft rocks and met God when She had acne, I also understand that a lot of you young whippersnappers uses Facebook and Twitter. So, announcements come through all three venues. I prefer to use my computer. Every so often I log in on my tablet, but just to read. I don't type well enough on its virtual keyboard with my rented fingers. :D I never use my phone to try and read the forums--my eyes aren't good enough anymore.

Behaving yourself--as you promised me you would--has to do with following the forum rules. Fail in that, and you get reprimands. There are times when some things should be left unspoken in public.

Comments regarding your experiences with Support are, of course, off-topic.

i am not a young whippersnapper ;-). my point is i can do all of those things from my phone.i am in fact a super moderator on another forum.(i cant say what one as it could be a breach of forum rules.)i am able to do all the functions associated with the forums.i fail to see how twitter is a good way for them to make announcements.
the management of this game is spread pretty thin already and adding yet another way for people to give suggestions and receive information does not sound like a good idea to me.
if it takes that long to get a response from support it tells me that there is not enough people to handle the load which directly influences they ability for the publisher of this game to keep up on multiple sources of input.
now off topic Kalvan i will leave this alone now.

Hi there,

I split this thread from http://forum.us.runesofmagic.com/showthread.php?t=78842 because the topics discussed here have nothing to do with suggestions for events.

yodased, you have a PM :)

timthum you might wanna read a little bit about twitter usage: http://www.sysomos.com/insidetwitter/geography/. Twitter will never be our primary information tool. That will always be the website.
But you don't need a twitter account to read what we tweet. You can see that even on the top of the forum ;)

I agree that having information on every channel our community uses would be best. Sometimes it might not be possible due to technical restrictions, technical problems (we can't inform you about a website down on the website ;) ), or lack of ressource.

As some of you might be aware I was on sickleave for ~7weeks, and Cernunna got hit by sickness as well, so we had kind of trouble here. We'll see what we can do to improve communication over time zones and oceans.

Lolwut. Go look at the top of the forums, where sales are supposed to be posted, and look at the most recent date. Are you really going to tell me we haven't had a single sale in the past month? Other RoM forums get updated as soon as these sales are up. For us, we have to rely on those forums to get that information, because everyone is too lazy to post it here too.

As for Twitter/Facebook, I agree with people who say they don't use them. Why should we have to check 3 different sites for news that other RoM communities get on their forums? If the US supposedly isn't treated any different, why are we forced to put more effort into finding official sales/information? I visit these forums frequently. I don't ever visit Twitter, and I only visit Facebook if I have to. Is it really that hard for someone who's posting sales in the DE/EU forums to make another post here, for us?

Oh, and I should also mention that, half the time someone actually bothers to make an official post of any kind on this forum, they use the european date format, which is actually confusing for some of us here in the US. Yes, I know, not terribly difficult to figure it out, but that's not how we do dates here.

Well i agree with most here, post info on the Official website and forums. Effervescent is right, check your post on the forums for sales lolll. Might be up to date on EU but US get no info or when we get it, it's 2 days later. I don't know who takes care to pass along the info to US side, but i would be looking into firing his arse.

Then again, here we go with the sickness thing again. We all get sick at one point and become less performant, but guys 7 weeks of flu?? really?? Are you the only 2 people working at Gameforge now? Because if that is the case, we are so screwed, sorry to say.

Another question, who the hell is Grey Eminence, not a GM,CM,FM his title = GAMEFORGE?? What is his position in the company?

I am actually very pleased with the job Zavod and Kalvan did with the whole fiasco of when the cleaning lady at your office, unplugged the server to plug in her shopvac instead. They dealt with it and gave us info really quick, i would be looking into hiring them on support NOW!!! They get things done apparently ;-)

I was AMAZED of all their info and keeping us posted, i am still in awe of them for doing it, tyvm guys.

I have worked with several large international corporations involving different continents and time zones and there is an easy solution. Pick one place to convey all information and set the time zone used, then include time conversions for all areas.

For instance pick the official ROM forums for conveying information and select Germany as the time zone. Each post about sales etc.. would include a time start for the many areas. When they post it on the German forums they post it here even if it is the middle of the night. I would rather see the upcomng event and know when it is going to start versus seeing it after.

I do not believe German forum users would mind being the initiator of all upcoming sales etc..

First and foremost, I'd like to point out that I did say that announcements and sales information are posted on the website's main page. Keeping this in mind, most people who visit the forums hit the main page first, then go to the forums.

As for sales being posted in the forums, yes, the last date shown (so far) was February 1st. I did say usually not always. EU postings for sales in their forums are only somewhat more up-to-date, if you'd care to check--I have.

IMO, your best source of announcements will be on the website's main page, followed by the forums, and then either Twitter or Facebook, if you use them. (I do not.)

The main page isn't very user friendly, so I come to the easier-to-read forums without going through the main site. EU isn't "somewhat" updated, their forums are always fully updated when it comes to sales. It's bull that they can post everything there, but when it comes to the US, we're expected to look at the main site or EU forums. As I said, it really isn't hard for someone to copy-paste the sales announcements if they're already doing the EU ones...

Technically, correct that main page has most up to date info usually. Sometimes forums has more though, but usually main. Worth it to check both, as well as EU and AU pages.

I asked in my guild and they says Rustypedia (as in, whatever I tell them) is their main source of information. Yikes. That does not bode well.

If I could throw in my two cents here, i liked it better when we got a weekly newsletter through e-mail. Everyone checks their e-mail so that would seem like a great way to relay information to all players (and maybe get some to start playing again if they see an e-mail about 2x xp or a good sale). However, not all player check the website or the forums, so they would not be as good in terms of information relay.
