On topic: yes we all know that botting a boss is considered an exploit (and maybe cheating?) so the GM/CM's should stop it. Problem is, I haven't really heard of them doing that to people for bot bosses, but maybe they are doing it behind the scenes and not announcing it every time they ban someone, which makes sense. Would be nice for a CM/GM to let us know.

Well, I graduated from college twice now. I'm currently working towards graduating a third time, though.

No, I had no intention of planning to ask you about your domestic abuse habits. Honestly, I didn't know they existed until you mentioned them. I would have found it hard to believe you had a "wife" if you hadn't just said it.

You never answered my questions on your cheating though. You're working pretty hard to avoid confronting it. Only in DC is a tangential statement about spousal abuse an appropriate way to deviate attention from primary negative behavior.

Offtopic: Wow I haven't really paid attention to you on the forums until now, but I must say, you are quite a troll. First off, I don't know if your response to his "are you still beating your wife" was sarcasm, but go look up what a loaded question is on wikipedia. Then you'll understand what he was saying. Second, stop running with the whole "oh look you got accused of hacking" thing. Everyone and their mothers have been accused of hacking in Siege. Lastly, he said that most people grow out of the whole "i'm getting put down by the man because I'm too honest for them" act after they graduate from college. Notice that he said MOST people. The fact that you have graduated from college and are still playing that act is what is so sad. My god, you need to learn how to actually read and understand other people's posts before responding with some BS. Here's to you getting banned again soon.

There was a toon on Reni who decided to use a mega to tell a very crude and gross sex joke. Never heard of the guy, so I inquire right away as soon as I read it. Offline already. And I have not seem on since. Geee, I wonder what happened to him.

Was a toon on Thalia went on for days about raping another players dead mother, the fact she died from cancer and how he should go slit his wrists and join his mum. This abuse went on for hours at a time over several days in World Zone and players Trade channel.

What happened the person being abused quit the game. We see botters running 24/7 for dog meat nothing gets done at all.

But then before gameforge took over we did have the luxury of either pm a gm or ticket to support and they were acted on pretty quickly.

Abuse in world chat or something taken a little to far could see you silenced (most fun when you cant even whisper or text chat in guild for 7 days)

There was a presence in-game that was felt that is no longer there. The longer it goes on the more people bot. Mob mentality wins out. you see it happening, you see nothing being done to stop it, so the if they can then I can too mentality sinks in.

I do believe you showed a similar level of mental faculty for both of the responses. Taz is not a boss and sarcasm layered upon sarcasm clearly escapes your grasp. You might think twice about responding to things that you are having a hard time understanding in the future. OTOH, every village needs an ... carry on.

I'm not the one accusing wiffo of being a cheater without any evidence

Do you even know what he supposedly did? and why do you care?
stop using big words if you think we're all stupid

wiffo has already stated that his whole guild was being accused of being cheaters. That is a classic scenario that many of us have experienced in siege war. Wiffo spends most of his time sucking up to gameforge anyway :P why would he decide to throw that all away now?

Recently Disturbed went up against Knightshift in siege and we basically crushed them (new members, atar/zid convos have gone over this), they didn't resort to hacks because they are an honest guild

I do have some insight here, though. This actually struck me back when bots were the main source for TS items. It was just further reinforced with daily items, golden eggs, and now with the EoJ events.

Everyone complaining about bots is functionally asking that the prices increase for the items that are most widely botted. Lots complained about golden eggs being botted but damn didn't the price increase hurt after blatant botting was shut down? I would be willing to bet that this is a consideration when they make a decision to crack down on botters.

In that light, the modern EoJ event botters are just lowering mod prices. This is actually something that the community cried about for a very long time. If the botters are stopped en masse, prices will skyrocket. The expense of gearing up for anyone that relies on the AH for filler or base stats will multiply.

I don't say this to condone the concept of any sort of cheating. I'm just trying to put it into perspective as to why they tend to drag their heels on this sort of infraction. The game has been handed off to so many management groups since its inception that none of them has really ever gotten a chance to understand how the dynamic virtual and real economies work together. They are likely scared of doing anything that might have a drastic effect on the overall economy and thus the user base. Player attrition since chapter 3 has had some serious effects on the game and they likely just don't want to increase the rate.

That is horrible, and I hope the person who was doing that was finally banned. Well, I hope worse things happened to him than that, but that is outside the game. In game, banning is all that can be done.

That said, you did ask for one case, and that really needs a single example of someone being banned. It was instant, too, not a result of a ticket. Someone with GM power was on and took action right away.

Cases such as you mention can be used to make argument that there is not enough GM pretense, and it would indeed be a good support for such argument. There is a difference between not enough and none.

During the rush of gold botters, there was a system proposed that if enough players report someone as being a problem, that person would be silenced based on those reports, and then unsilenced if investigation proved that he was not breaking rules. Essentially, a way for a group of people to exercise limited GM powers. Essentially, a form of citizen arrest (hope, this makes sense to you, wiki says Australia has similar concept). There were strong arguments that it would be prone to abuse, and in some way it would be. Still, one can design a system that would get creeps like you mentioned off the server right away and leave honest disagreements somewhat safe.

P.S. On personal note, ignoring groupies till they say something of note. Getting less and less likely, though.
