I do agree somewhat with what you are saying because it will have an affect on the economy, but how big would be dependent on how many botters there actually are. It would be very hard to balance the economy (lowering item shop prices or increasing availability)

If you have a brain tumor and want to get it removed, there is a chance that there will be side-effects from the procedure which may end in death. Doctors aren't able to control all variables in the procedure so these side-effects may occur, but you still wouldn't want to keep the tumor as it will grow, become harder to fix, and cause the death of the patient.

Gf/Rw are able to control every variable in their game besides the number of players, their play time, and what they spend on the game. It would be complicated, but the sooner they get rid of the problem the better it will be for the community

If being handed the chance to ridicule Rusty on a silver platter isn't justification enough, what is?

It has already been said by many people that there have been several times where people call hacks on the forums. If you have no evidence/experience with the alleged hacking what is the point?

I'm sure Borella has been accused of hacking before, you wanna go after him? :P

I agree but with junk stat prices as close to puri cost as they've been since before the inflation from illicit gold purchasing, history shows us there's lots of room for prices to increase. I won't be coming back to the game for a few weeks still but I'd prefer not to come back to a borked economy. A fix that completely gets rid of botting would be ideal but they need to offset the negative effects in planning first.

Silly jester. Following the rules and procedures is boring. It is something for regular people to do. When you are special, you can follow your own rules and make your own processes for how to get things done. Sure, you might not be doing it the way that all those people do things, but that is for little people. The little people rules don't apply to you.

Not following rules/procedures is how I get things to be done. See d/s charm boss fix and past duper banning world shouts. TB next.

That is horrible, and I hope the person who was doing that was finally banned. Well, I hope worse things happened to him than that, but that is outside the game. In game, banning is all that can be done.

i think something worse than simply banning a player for 30 days in extreme cases would be to wipe them clean, let them keep playing but take everything they have away except for items shop items since they are bought with dias, take every item every gold and all tp but leave the toon at what ever level it was. so it basically becomes a virtual paperweight

During the rush of gold botters, there was a system proposed that if enough players report someone as being a problem, that person would be silenced based on those reports, and then unsilenced if investigation proved that he was not breaking rules. Essentially, a way for a group of people to exercise limited GM powers. Essentially, a form of citizen arrest (hope, this makes sense to you, wiki says Australia has similar concept). There were strong arguments that it would be prone to abuse, and in some way it would be. Still, one can design a system that would get creeps like you mentioned off the server right away and leave honest disagreements somewhat safe.

Oh man.. we could finally silence Mandrakes.

after reading this thread from post 1 to post 48 ,i must say what is wrong with some people?
botting is not allowed or sanctioned...........no argument of economy is valid..............botting is against the rules end of story.
this thread is about botting and not about siege exploits.

History would not tend to agree with your assumption. Golden eggs were the first real botter ban that went into effect. There had been a well established economy based on botter TS and daily items previous to it that was never addressed in any meaningful way.

Currently, botting is most definitely sanctioned. Nytefall went on a few servers when Rorazan went live to inquire about the Taz event but everyone questioned replied back with the macro they were manually using. After that, it got pretty blatant and the worst offenders on my server never suffered any negative sanctions. As much as you would like to see an end to botting tomorrow, as would most fair playing individuals, there are peripheral concerns. Stating that it is "end of story" does not make it so.

Those who are arguing the fact that the economy would take a hit understand and agree that botting is wrong. We've already got that part, we're just taking a it a step further talking about the repercussions of removing the botters all at one time. They cannot just take the botters out without causing major shifts in the economy, this is a gear-based game, if the economy, which controls that aspect of the game is thrown out of whack, it will be very hard to fix and for players even veteran ones to not feel the stress from the change

I do agree botting is a problem :P but you also have to look at the other side of the coin. (first time using that analogy, eww :p)

From my other thread about world boss exploits and here as well, we aren't able to actually put forth good ideas with the limited knowledge of what rw/fs plan to do about botting/exploits/hacks. There are no need for what specifically or when, just that the issue has been acknowledged and some way to show their progress on the matter.

The banhammer thing from awhile ago was great :), though it would have been even better to see an estimate of what the total number of botters was and how that number is changing. Banning is a temporary fix, I hope rw/fs understand that. I understand that there will always be botters in the game, but rw/fs can also do things that can significantly reduce the numbers. Greater communication even if it is incorrect communication (don't lie to us though pls :P) like Swag's is necesssary

Deltan I think has realized he was being an arse for no reason :P and is putting forth good ideas such as how the economy sorta kinda partially depends on botters

GM/CM input would be great on what you guys think about communication :D. Doesn't have to be official or anything, as long as we get communication from the higher ups who have more perspective on the game's devs/publishers we can start forming a relationship with the community to help solve these types of community problems

There was a toon on Reni who decided to use a mega to tell a very crude and gross sex joke. Never heard of the guy, so I inquire right away as soon as I read it. Offline already. And I have not seem on since. Geee, I wonder what happened to him.

Delta got unbanned, looks like. Let's see how long that lasts.

Oh, and that "called out for hacking", I imagine, is the deleted thread, right? Didn't get to read it before it got removed, but I imagine the kid displayed the same manners and flair for language as he did trash talking in SW itself.

Sad to say, I can't claim the exclusive distinction - he was accusing half the guild of hacking. Was very disappointing. Usually, being accused of hacking in SW is a sign of distinction, meaning that you are doing something well enough for losers to suspect you of doing too well. But, when you are accused by someone who suspects everyone and their granma, what's the point? Shame that sertet was not in that SW (he is member of same guild). I was never a big fan, but at least he had some brain cells.

Did I miss something???

And huge LOL at Rustyx's hacking skillz... :D

ps. care to PM me at least name of guild? :)

As for OP and Taz bot - I really don't care. Game is harder and harder for people to prosper with declining player base and rare newb players. Hard to make any gold on server, and yet DIAS at rising in price, gear is selling for more and more, at least mage's gear.

Well 5 accounts, 8 toons on each = 40, try to do dailies on them for your guild and let me know. Not everyone got in the Ruby glitch a while back and ended having a full upgraded castle within 15 minutes. We have to do it the hard way and work for it.

Something that players that just comes on to complain, critisize and start trolling real players couldn't understand. Players who play day in and day out, help others, gives stuff and gear to help them. Improve their guilds and guildies so they can run higher instances. Atar, Rustyx, Sadakko, Gawd etc knows what i mean.

I don't always agree with Rustyx on his post, but he does point out good things most of the time.

So for those who post just to show their sigil, avatar and prove they exist, try to play your toon and enjoy the game. Less time making meaningless comments on the real players in game.

Atar you are STALKING ME!!!!!!!! Damn you ;-)
