I'd still encourage you to go P/M, it will take too long to level Mage side anyway. My question is, what do you have on P/S that a P/M doesn't have? The matk buff is about the only important one I can think of, except for maybe curing shot or whatever the healing elite is called. But P/M has so much more utility, and filler instants that actually do damage (albeit not as much as IB or IWB, but better than P/S, which has 0)
I've already tried P/M in Siege. It is no better IMO than the currently-euthanized P/S. True, there are more skllls than can be used, but every one of the Mage general active skills, along with the P/M elites (IWB, insta-cast RT) have cooldowns that vary far too much for my comfort.
For leveling IWB, I'd simplely level up every skill by 2 or 3 less, and that usually gets me enough TP to level up a new skill, and that 2-3 levels won't effect anything by any noticable amount anyway. I'd wait for Chapter 6. Usually, at the start of each chapter, they'll reset your TP. And that should be next patch.
I checked my Mage skills. @level 58 Mage, most of the *useful* ones for siege are anywhere from lvl 50 to lvl 56, including IWB. (Lightning is at 50, since the root time for it vs. players is pretty much capped at 6 seconds.)
Lightning is used as an instant for damage in siege, not for its root effect, except for against Knights or warriors. Even though damage will not be as nice on P/M, at least it'll do exponentially more damage then Shot or Vamps arrows that you have on P/S.
I have a different view of how Lightning is used in Siege. Use it to root your target, then either back away or *run* away and get back to the warm fuzziness of any companions in the area. The damage is generally nice, but it's no more than a pinprick against a toon with 120K or more health.
Shot, VA, or other Scout general skills have little use in PvP combat for a P/S . P/S players rarely, if *ever*, stack any sort of PAttk stats, if they have a clue for what's been good for them in the past. Any PAttk or PDam comes from their weapon or gear, not from the stats added to it/them. And most P/S bows are stat sticks, not DPS weapons.
Aside from the occasional "miss", Shot and VA are good enough to take out balloons or stick a bleed (VA) onto a player. That's about it for their "utility" in Siege.
Against warriors though, you have to make sure they aren't W/k with 1h sword and shield, that throw shield can put a real hurt on a caster.
I wouldn't spend diamonds on a reset stone to build your P/m up, way too many nerf hammers swinging. looks like P/s was only the beginning. Soon all classes will be throwing nerf balls in siege and it will take a full party of tosh geared 77's to clear FA.
I don't need to spend diamonds on reset stones. I already had two of them. One from the lvl 35 gift bag from back in Ystra Highlands and one from the TP reset that was done when RW reversed the godawful GCD screwup.
I used one on the Rogue side prior to dropping it to take Mage. The Rogue TP should still be available should I decide to revert at a later date. Tthe other one is still available.
