Why do you play RoM

Hello, why do you play Runes of Magic?

I made a topic a week or so ago asking when the climax of the game was and everyone seemed to be in agreement that is was well past its prime, almost a consensus that it was a year and a half to 2 years ago, and has been going downward ever since.

Is the reason people still play related to hope or memories of the past returning or is the community really that important to where you aren't leaving?

For me, I play (even though only less than a half hour every other day) because I have a second family here. I have a hard time enjoying any game play in this game over the past month or two. If I the community that I love stopped playing or visiting the forums, I'd probably stop visiting both.

To many players who left and still visit the forums, why don't you play anymore? What was the reasoning behind leaving the game?

I have a hard time enjoying other games, because I'm just so used to logging on to RoM and seeing all the familiar faces. And I still enjoy sieges and the occational instance runs.

I play for the crashes .. and ROM don't let me down with them ; )

But for real .. If it was not for the friends i've made , I would have left long ago.

despite the various bugs & crashes, I play RoM because of it's customizability & the friends I've made over the years.

For me too. I play a few others every so often but the feature set of RoM is massive and story & creativity keep drawing me back. There's some great people on server and here in the forum too - one of the best communities I've ever seen for a game.
RoM does have its' faults (name me a game that doesn't), but for me the good things far outweighs the bad.

People, mostly, though the game itself has some draw that keeps sucking me in. I can't seem to stay happy with other games; I grow bored eventually and come back to RoM. The people I've met here, though, are all pretty amazing and I've never found another game with such a great community.

The population has dwindled dramatically since chapter 3, which is sad. I'm hoping the US side doesn't fade away anytime soon.

I've met many MANY great people on Palenque, 3-4 great guilds, and when they all leave or left, it's as if you're playing alone, b/c those people you made bonds with, left, almost leaving you feel abandoned. I feel like this reason is why most leave the game, once their friends leave, they're gone too, they don't want to continue with players that they don't have that same online bond with.

Same as almost everyone, the people. Although i really like how the egar works. Some may not agree, but in ther games i played, and i played a lot, there is something missing about this part. Customizing your gear to suits your need is very fun.

Another huge plus for RoM is that there are so many class combos to try, i ahve many alts just for fun and look at the combos. There is something in this game that is powerful and i hope GF and RW wakes up and work to make it perfect :)
Just came back on a whole new toon :D

Everyday is something new, doesn't matter if it's good or bad, when I was playing Ragnarök game, was boring, same stuff everyday, same faces, same guilds, here even if you have your own routine, something new always happens (like getting in guild war for don't enter fly party), also even I'm from different country, have found very nice people, made good friends, and yes, the game is awesome (when Lazyforge make things work), so most of my little time, I'm having fun, learning and teaching things everytime, helping and beeing helped.

This argument really does not work well...

I am playing games for 20 some years now and always there were game that just work as intended while others I had to adjust to play. In times of DOS used to help others to setup and run game and in time of emulation help many with how to run DOS or any other old computer game under Win2k and up. There are many games that don't have any problems.

Of course argument might be that they are not complicated like RoM or that many of them are console games (this first comes to mind, games that are MMO on consoles, they all work perfectly).

As why I do play still RoM?! Well, if I am not here, who will bother Rustyx every day??

Someone has to take responsibility... :D
