Oh yes, I went there.

SIEGE WAR.

Oh yeah, I went there. :D

People were complaining about siege war still being in BETA two chapters ago!

As far as I'm concerned, these are the only things that changed in siege war since chapter 3. (And siege war was released in early chapter 2 if I'm not mistaken)

1. The guards got a level increase

2. Less people play it

3. FoT's can't lock you anymore

4. Gates are about as hard to kill as the guards


So that's two good changes out of four. And four changes out of a couple dozen that people have been complaining about for YEARS. <--- oh yeah I went there, bolded, underlined, and Italicized.

So how about some honest to god truth, it's been what? Three... four years since siege war was released. And for the past two or three years people have done nothing but wonder and hope and plea for answers on when it would actually become a finalized product.

Tell me, tell us what is happening. Did the developer who created siege war die shortly before he finished it and nobody else can manage to finish his work?

Do you, or RW just not see it as something to put funding into?

Just give me a why.

This isn't a rant, I'm not mad because I lost in Siege War or anything and I'm not throwing negative emotion into this. I just want to know whether I should hope for one day that I can stop playing this "beta" which no testing is being done on, and no feedback is being taken, or if I should just accept it for what it is.

Truth is all I seek. A straight answer, an answer period. Because it's like being in a never-ending darkness. I just want a little light. Even if it's a tiny little flashlight that runs on a potato.

Didn't Swag say, while you were still here Noony, that RW was never gonna bother to get it out of Beta? Didn't he let that slip in a Romcast? Cause no one has ever given us any indication that RW has changed their mind on that.

They've tweaked stuff in sw, and we had to beg and plead and gnash our teeth til they did it. They've nerfed classes in PvE because of complaints about PvP- that's prolly the "best" we can hope for.

I think in RoM's language, "Beta" means "done."

Oh, and you forgot LoS.

RoM IS Beta for another RW game that's being released. When they're satisfied w/ how things in that game work, Siege will come out of Beta.

Sadly I'm actually looking forward to that game. Looks like its got a great company backing it and they actually seem to care about that one. It will be interesting to see what awesome things they can do when they actually care about the game, unlike this one.

There, fixed it...

Since you have left, we discovered that there is RoM in Russia and magically they have thing or two fixed in their SW, like you are unable to attack anything inside castle while gates are still up... Something folks ask here much before my time...

Here's an Idea on the subject of SW. Get rid of it. :)

Make a new SW PVP system similar to Arcanium Arena's gamemode (Capture the flag + Killcount + Base capping)
Reduce Time from 1 hour to 30 mins, make it twice a day (Proposed times: 6pm PDT & 8pm). Sign in's would be after 1 hour after 1st (to make it to the 8pm) and 1 hour after 2nd (to make it to 6pm the following day)
Keep the aspect of Castles + Traps + Merits + Upgrades of course.
idk, don't want to illaberate fully on this, it would deserve a thread of its own. But i am a fan of the Arcanium Arena.

Siege is one of the only decent things about this game, as buggy as it is...why in the hell would you suggest they remove it? Get rid of it and I can guarantee you'd see entire endgame + midgame guilds leave the game (and on some servers, like Osha, there really are not that many active guilds, but several of them are very much into siege, my guild included). Some people only care about siege nowadays. I'd rather it get fixed and come out of beta than be removed.

I don't think RW will ever do it though. Hell, they're too lazy to even bother raising the level cap of the guards again, or to implement the damage/heal reduction that they promised us months ago. PvP in this game is unbalanced as hell and is all about who oneshots who first, or whoever has the better geared pockethealer wins.

And don't get me started on the lag...my computer is certainly on the low end, so I expect to lag a lot, but how much more I lag in siege than I do in instances is excessive, and I know people with mid-to-high-end computers that end up having 10fps or less sometimes in siege, whereas they'll get 40+ outside of siege. The fact that there's such a large difference (and that the lag gets increasingly worse with more players in siege) shows how badly coded the siege map is.

Oh, and to minimize my lag, in zones where I lag a lot, I like to minimize my view distance. But can I do that in siege? Lolnope, because then castles don't load and I might accidentally walk into one without even seeing it >:c.

The LoS "fix" was a very bad implementation of a band-aid fix. I can't even heal people if there are invisible towers around, or hell, even with something as little as an FoT, or a bump in the terrain, and I get an LoS error for goddamn heals. It's irritating as hell. Something that doesn't even go past my knees or isn't visible shouldn't obstruct my view.

Actually I don't agree with your 'corrections' of my post. I get it, but I don't think they are being forced to care. Runewaker is a company of gamers that make games. They love games but I believe that the publishers they have had to work with on Runes of Magic have killed their passion for this game. They haven't exactly had the best partners on it and it's only getting worse as time goes on. Getting to work with Sony is going to be a huge upgrade for them over their current situation with Runes of Magic.

I'll be expecting good things from that game until proven otherwise.

Removing the "BETA" tag does nothing. You'll still have the same problems.

People tend to forget that RoM was not designed for siege implementation originally. Its pretty amazing what some developers created with what they had (arena/battleground servers. which is the reason theyre unstable, they werent originally intended for 30+ people on each side.) The fact that it even WORKS is amazing. Which is why, in my opinion, it will forever remain in BETA. It was not intended to exist in the first place.

Frankly, I'm grateful they pay any, if at all, attention to siege. Fixes are nice, adjustments, etc. But there will always be that instability in siege. BETA, get used to it.

@Gutterboy - that 'big' company that will publish other RW game has 'name' and will not allow any of their partners to tint their name... Surely RW as small house developer will have to oblige to many and any wishes, as game has moved...
