Things that need to be said

I have removed all the vulgar points and posted them on tumblr but I feel with the naysayers in suggestions a few things need to be said. on that note the game is becoming vastly too restricting to free players you are quite literally suffocating them.

and for the people saying Free players don't need perks please SHUT UP your killing the game this is exactly what happened to City of Heros, Free players don't need that free players don't need that free players don't need that now you have no free players now what?

If you are that concerned about the funding of runes of magic BECOME AN INVESTOR, I am quite sure ROM would be more than happy to give ya VIP goodies if you can make a monthly payment to keep ROM FTP, if you don't have the money to be an investor or don't want to go though that, with all due respect SHUT UP. if you are NOT willing to INVEST in ROM you should HAVE NO SAY in whats made no longer free! if this fact disturbs you leave this topic now because this is how ALL other FTP games generally make their dough and how your statements like "players will never pay for it" are full of it.

So lets start with what hurts the naysayers the most, things players WILL pay for that they dont think players will play for.

Players will pay for:
  • Crafting Materials (there are people that lazzy)
  • Exp Items
  • Potion Packs that restore HP and MP/furry (yes that's right they will pay for this not much but they will pay cash money for it)
  • Shiny Mounts (people like thins that glow)
  • Pretty Cloths
  • Things they can sell to other players (like mounts or cloths but you naysayers really screwed this puppy over didn't you?)
  • Restoration Items
  • Items that allow a normal player under normal conditions to solo a dungeon their level
  • Pets that pick up loot for you

They will not pay for a game that takes away EVERY free perk in existence. it is a balancing act!

Players will quit cretin aspects of the game over the flowing.
  • rent bag space. (buying bags is one thing but renting space, this idea should have been squelched with mass protest)
  • ALL Perm Mounts can't be traded or sold (again something that should have been squelched with mass protest)
  • lack of verity
  • Unable to talk in world chat/ to friends without an items or having paid for it

How other MMOS make their big money is off consumables (even some fun ones like fireworks) and they often have sales on consolable items and drop events to give consumable items out to players so they can try the items without having to buy them. few other ones have been know to host VIP servers for investors where they don't have to use cash shop currency to get anything.

Keep in mind this is a generalization this is multiple Company's not just multiple FTP MMOs

Again if you are not willing to be an investor KEEP YOUR MOUTH SHUT and find ways to make it work for the free players and the money players because that's the ONLY way its ever gonna make the game better!

if you take everything away form free players you will have no free players, then you will have no new players, than you will have no people spending money on the game...

High prices and no perks is a poison to FTP game and that my dears is why this HAS to be said.

Linkasaurus 2

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

the cm's are compiling a list of new items players would like to see here.
and this game is by no means cheap to run.
so... all those mounts per character is what helps keep this game going.

and in othergames where they can get by with consumables paying their bills..
in this game, its kind of unrealistic, unless they add some crazy stuff to itemshop.
like eggrice/wine/sigils/hot stew/ etc.

wich just gave me an idea.. of some imba consumables.. that will most definitely generate sales. lol.

I stressed this point because its is becoming an issue on both ends if you choke the free players too much you get no new players, if you cant add content for the paying-players you cant earn money sometimes sales are the easiest way to raise a few hundred dollars in a short period of time.

another reason I brought up the Investor thing; VIP subs are a good way to raise money for keeping a game going, and can be something as simple as a monthly sub that give ya little packs dependent on price.

It could be anything form small diamond/ruby packs to a special access server (for bigger spenders) Its not a thing I'm for or against I just felt it needed to be said to remind players to not attack the other end or in this case remind paying players not to attack free perks if it can be avoided. and in all cases right now it can be avoided.

I am fully aware of what it cost to run a server I however am also realistic about where the money to run it can come from and where it does come from in the diamond shop.

ALL of the items you listed that players won't pay for... well players DO in fact pay for those. Look on any server at the number of people talking in world chat, most people paid money for those megas. Most players paid to have a mount on every toon they play. I could go on, but I think I've made my point. With diamonds available in the AH now, there is no reason the free players can't have everything the paying players have. It's all a matter of how much time a free or paying player wants to invest. THAT is the currency free players use, time. If you expect to be cutting edge, then expect to spend to be there. If you want to run at level runs, then plan ahead and use the shell stats you can start getting at level 50 (well before most of the necessary instances). There is no reason to make mounts account bound, that is one of the items GF knows people will buy to keep the game going. Could they be cheaper, sure, but don't count on it.

I don't remember if it was this post or another one you made recently but you said something about how HUGE this world is. Sorry to tell you, but this game world is actually pretty small compared to most. I've played some where zones were as big as the continents here. Played some where even on a mount it took you 10+ minutes with max speed buffs on to cross it. Rom is far from a huge world.

If you look at this game from a purely consumer point of view. If you don't like the prices they charge, don't pay them. Simple. If you want to play the game anyway, well this is one of the few games thats gives totally free players all the same content paying players get, consider yourself lucky there. GF could charge extra for you to wear gear over level 50. They could charge extra to play elves or dwarves. They could charge extra to let you equip purple or higher gear. Hell they could charge to let you run instances above hoto. They don't, be happy about that. Many f2p games do this kind of pricing.

If someone is paying for those it does not mean that they are happy to do so... I rather spend some DIAS on item upgrade (be it plussing stone or drill) while getting permanent backpack, as it was in time of Frogster America. I did the same on 3 more characters and I am now sad that I have not done this on all alts...

Expensive game become more expensive with merge of EU and NA markets and now I am just waiting for another insanity...

Item we all request will be mostly available to those with deep pockets... just like what happened with recon runes... we strongly benefit from that previous questionnaire, didn't we...

From the tone, word choices, grammar and general attitude I have to think the OP is significantly younger than most of the forum posters here. Some advice for the OP:

Don't come into a situation where people generally know and respect each other to try and start something.

FYI if you want someones opinion, don't ask for it in one breath and the next tell the same people to shut up.

Er...so I stopped reading after the first couple paragraphs, since in one you were standing up for f2p players and how they should get "perks" too, and in the next you were saying f2p players have no right to ask for anything, so if you want to ask for anything, you should pay...

What.

LOL this thread is very confusing ( 0 . o )

are you trying to say free players should get more benefits, and if you pay cash for ROM those players should get VIP perks so it will make them pay more????? so lost confused.

i do agree that rom is a pretty expensive game to play, i have probably spent a few Ks all during my ROM days, sometimes it just gets soo addictive trying to get those gashas to get the extra back pack slots , i just need the last page LOL.

plussing gear to +16, high tiering with tons of puris, drillings, so on and so forth cost tons of gold considering some of the upgradings fail so miserably, BUT since coming back to ROM and playing for the past few months and only spending around $40 and never ever running any instances due to time and being a sad boring lonely friendless looser in ROM, i have been able to gear 1 and a half a toon decently,

it all just takes time, everything in this game can be purchase with IN GAME GOLD.... since diamonds are now back in the auction house,

only people who are actually buying purchasing diamond with real cash are the players who wants to quickly regear with the latest and greatest stuff available, which can be done with TIME...

but i do agree the perks from purchasing diamonds are all not too great in this game, rubies for instances takes too many to get an item and everyone can get them, who knows i might start to buy more diamonds if ROM came up with some kind of perks or buffs for paying customers for xp/tp gain , more in game gold , 100% item drop loots instead of the infamous link runes, so on and so on,

TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE IN ROM

^exactly what came to my mind before I stopped reading.

Diamonds are in the AH, all f2p have access to those dias, provided they have enough gold to afford. In order to make gold, ya gotta farm something worth selling. <---point where people quit, because they just don't like work.

Gearing up as a druid, I farmed a LOT. This was back in early ch4, GCH wasn't even cleared in the US yet. I farmed mems to sell stats, dog meat, etc etc. Most don't like, nor are they willing to farm anything. Most players would rather have "gimme's" than to work for their gear. Some are just not smart in what they invest into.

I spent ~$200-$300 on Ravesden. Haven't spent any of my own money in over a year now, however. Games just not worth it with its current management. There "sales" we currently have are less than respectable.

1) Lack of advertisement
2) Lack of support
3) Lack of GOOD SALES
4) Dwindling population

^Thats the problem we have in RoM, in a nutshell. Not whether f2p have a say, or dont have a say, or they're getting choked, or whatever.

+1000

I agree, this to me is more of a "i dont wanna work for it and i dont wanna pay for it" thread. I dont have that much time to play, so i spend more money to get the things i want. I figure if i keep myself to the budget of a P2P subscription both for my gf and I, then i am in the same place i would be with a P2P.

Problem is with the F2P players that dont want to spend ANY money, and then dont want to spend the time. If you arent willing to do one or the other, then dont expect to be a big cheese. You can F2P most aspects of the game without a huge amount of time a day.... Just dont expect to be given KBNHM runs for gear, that you then dont think you should have to work to get the gold or spend RL money to stat...

The problem is the sales, if it was done better then the game would be cheaper and more people would see a little investment in their character paying off. Heck remove the fail rate on +ing gems, or vastly reduce it, that alone would make a lot of chars not want to quit.

F2P players and what they get with little work is so far down the list of anything that needs to be discussed it isnt even funny.

Edit to add: I mean really? I helped some guy out the other day with some free stats and information and helped with a few quests... Just to then be asked every day for free Tosh Pleveling.......

off-topic
bashing free perks really??? ya that's just wow didn't think you were that lazy....
confused because of off-topic posters
didn't read the whole thing (why are you here than?)

TOPIC REMINDER"
This continued squelching of free "perks" needs to stop, it has already diminished the server economy and if you are that concerned about the company making money off the game INVEST in ROM.

Your bashing on the "free ideas" is not doing ANYONE any good least of all ROM because in your vain attempts to "keep rom funded" you have bashed and squelched over 50 Not my ideas that I count that were actually additions to the Cash shop as well, and this was in the past three months that I can relate to.

this BASHING suggestions is just straight up ghetto and unless you actually have something CONSTRUCTIVE, defined as helpful POSITIVE ideas that either act as additions or make the item in question more appropriate

SHUT UP!!!!! YES I AM TELLING YOU TO ZIP IT, because lets face it allot of you have been downright trolling the suggestions section in dam near borderline behavior to just unspeakable acts against suggestions that are genuinely ideas worth talking about (again 50 NOT MINE ideas)

because the only thing you are doing is Fleming (defined as a hostile or nonconstructive comment often seen as a insult) people and this IS NOT how you handle suggestions PERIOD.

its old
its getting pathetic
its getting annoying to see these ideas get bashed out because you are on a ego trip

If i could I would encourage the staff to start bashing on you for it but that would be sinking to some of your levels.

SO instead of just killing suggestions how about the whole lot of you who bashed this topic on this thread actually start suggesting some instead! you clearly have enough creativity to kill 50 ideas least you can do it put it to good use instead!

I'm not exactly sure who they are talking to, I suppose the Nerdrage is aimed at gameforge, but this person fails to notice that despite the pleas and tears, gameforge isn't really listening. Caps lock does not make for good dialog, and the rage just feeds the trolls. So perhaps this person is trolling for trolls?

i saw something about the pack rental hinderance,
yes its tough not having all 6 pages unlocked at first...
but the funny thing with the rental system is..
if you use it, it pays for itself and gives your profit.
where you then can afford lots of perks.
