Do we not get updates anymore

[h=1]Forum: Special Offers[/h]Daily and weekly itemshop offers and diamond promotions. This is the place that GF should be putting the sales we are getting . But looks like only the EU side was updated this week ( not the 1st time) Was just wondering if we will be getting a umm person that will come on here and give us info that would help , Things like https://forum.runesofmagic.com/showthrea…756#post4649756 did this affect us ?? " A few weeks ago, we experienced a DDOS attack which affected our game servers, forums and websites for a short period of time.

Even if there is no way to ultimately stop such attacks, we have optimized our systems in order to minimize the impact of any future attack.

We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

It's so obvious how much they just don't care about us anymore. We mostly rely on information from those nice enough to go on the AU servers or EU servers and tell us sales and prices. Even when we do get posts about sales, it's usually a day late or more after the sale is already up.

@ That Link,

"They have duties on the EU side" Well. Wake the hell up. They have duties here too. Why is EU more important?

Mommy always liked Timmy more than me! He had that DDOS thing and she is now like "I need to go take care of Timmy's problems". Pshaw!

I'm fairly certain that the DDOS attacks were only on the European servers. Every time the EU servers went offline so did the EU forums and EU website, but at those times the US side was fully functional and accessible (I know this because I lurked on the US side until the EU side was up and running again xD). It had happened for about a week or two and usually in the afternoon EST (around 2pm or 4pm EST).

Although the OP's point still stands regarding announcements for the US... always seem to come late or not at all. X_X

Thanks EsxCape, for your explanation of the DDOS-news and it's relation.

All other news are mainly on the website. The maintenance news should always be on forum too, all other news can be copied. Sometime I do notice a news is broken, not visible on website. In this case you get a copy on forum too.

You may take a look on the European forum or did it already. Even there you see the same, often such news are copied by Mentors. That didn't say they are better than ours on US, there are only more ^^
And ofc, I can't stay that long to copy all news on Australian, European and American forum, I would not know when I have to sleep. Therefore and to repeat, website is the main information source and we can time news there, like on Facebook and Twitter. ;)

And now, have to copy the maintenance news on forum :)

Wait, one point:
There is no "too late" to copy a news, at least it is not after the time frame, i.e. to copy a weekend sale on Tuesday ;)

Yea it's not hard to copy and paste information, I've seen it many times in responses that are copy/paste with no relevant information in regards to my issue in the ticket. So I don't think ANYONE doubts the ability for "important" (used lightly) correspondents to use the copy/paste....I think the important parts are; when and what you are copy/pasting.

Well I hope this update wasn't swept under the rug... I'm just mentioning it at this point because I assumed that it was a known fact, but yet no one actually mentioned it in any of the threads asking about where staff went or when chapter 6 is coming.
News Article: Gameforge Closing Berlin Office
Only staff statement I've seen about it: Compliments of Lead CM Raven

...sooooo just reminds you of the old FA office in Cali, doesn't it?

thats just bad, i feel sorry for the people that work there, they are getting the boot then getting a horrible job offer immediately after, yes, i even feel bad for the few people i dont like. hopefully after the move completes there will be a larger and happier staff that we can all annoy. good luck gameforge people i look forward to making your future days worse and stressful :)

Hmm we'll see. When FA closed we did get a few changes with how things were run...so maybe with the Berlin office closing, we will get some changes again. But I can see how this transition phase that they're in could be hectic, so I'm more interested in what is going to be happening between now and September. For example, I'd be interested in knowing if the closing is going to interfere with the release of Chapter 6...if they will delay it until things are sorted or if they're still going to try to push it out this summer. o_o

Most likely that depends on what people want to do when it comes to a move. Besides disruption of move, there are bound to be personnel changes depending on who goes or stays. They can offer people telecommute, though. It is online game company, most work does not need to be done in physical location.

I understand the feeling bad for it.
It's a bit like putting a mortally injured animal out of its misery though.

Hi there,

I'd like to point something very important out: you have awesome mentors over here.
They are volunteers, that is correct. That does, however, not mean that their answers are less qualified or true than ours.
They are talking to us on a daily basis, before they make big statements they ask for approval and before they take any action they'll talk to the team.
I trust all of them and no word from a mentor means less than from a CM or Mod. We are ONE Team.

That said I'd like to say a few word to the closing of the Berlin office.

EsxCape linked a good article about it already: http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/20…e-berlin-office .
So yes, closing down the Berlin office it is likely that the CM & Support teams of the Games that are managed in Berlin will undergo a few changes. However we aim to not letting these changes influcence your game experience. Some of us will move over to Karlsruhe, some wont, some are externals anyway. While you play on we will hand over the product to our colleagues in Karlsruhe in the background.

I'll not say that you will not notice anything. Of course you might notice persons did not move over that were in frequent contact with you. However all of these people will be replaced and you'll get to know new faces that will bring a fresh wind :)
For Runes of Magic itself it will not mean any changes, you can keep playing the game as your are used to.

Tl;dr: no worries, everything will be just fine :)

Fear the Kraken!

Okay it's 22:40 here but I read that and I have to ask: what do you have against our french CM? The kraken is a very kind person!

Aside from this: Taken your pessimistic view into account I'd say it can only get better ;)
Actually I can't agree on this "everything got worse when FAI closed or Gameforge and Frogster melted into one" attitude. For me it meant e.g. that I got to know the US community (and that is an experience I would not like to miss). I can't speak as an US player because I always was an EU player, but I'd say: yes there were changes. With these come mistakes - but also success. If you never try to change something you'll always be somewhere in the middle.

Let me close with a wisdom of my grandma (who learned english from the US Army)
"Sleep you very well in deinem klapprigen Bettgestell" ;) as in: I'll go to bed now, have a great afternoon/evening/whatever timezone and time your are reading this.

It'd be bloody hard for it to get much worse. Also, I'd advise against insulting your community by calling them pessimists.

If there is anything we have learned it is that even when at the bottom, gameforge always found a new way to dig deeper.

I don't think we can stress this more. All the secrecy of things does not help. We are already on the same event for 2 months+ now and we just get "btw 6.0.0 coming" as an announcement with "we don't like the current patch methodology"
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.
