Observations and Thought about Patch 6.0.0

Perfect

So, the big highlights for this patch seems to be:

a) You can now do multiple sieges per day. From what I've gathered, in addition to regular siege, you can declare war against another guild of your choosing. If they accept, you have a siege war against them, but no rewards.

If you receive a war declaration for siege, you won't know which guild it is until after you accept. But once you accept, you can de-register and find someone else to war against instead. Forgot the starting time for the "regular" siege though, if anyone is kind enough to remind me again >.>

b) New bag stats are unbound, just like Chrysalias, so WOOOOTT. Strangely, these "new" 129/129 stats are still "XI" rather then the XII that was expected. So not sure if they will stack with old XI stats from Merhdin. Also, as a level 77 farming 80 mobs, bag stats seems to drop everywhere. Its a paradise if you have any spammable AoE's, and you can expect lots of scenes like this:
:D
Although 99% of the stats that dropped for me were junk hybrid stats like Str/Wis. Could just be my bad luck though.

PvP Gear with Honor Points: For 12k - 20k Honor Points, you can now buy PvP gear from vendors in OS, Mercenary Square, which are in front of the old Honor Point vendors. Includes Accessories and all gear pieces. They have HP/Crit resist/Damage Resist on them. I guess this could be the reason that they capped honor points at 25k, though imo, unless you have the resources to fully plus/stat 2 sets of gear, this is probably not that useful anyway.

Complete Knight Revamp. Assuming that there are still Knights left in this game, lol.

New currency bag. Basically, right click the currency with your mouse, and it will enter your currency bag, which displays how much of each currency you have. Phirus Tokens not included, though can't say I'm surprised. Definately something people have asked for, and I'm glad they've listened.

Ability to upgrade Titles: According to Yoman, you can upgrade titles not, not including siege titles/event titles. Upgrading adds attributes to titles.

Only problem is, as far as I know, there is no way to take currency out, and whenever you obtain currentcy (either from drops or mail), it will go into the new currency bag. There goes my eeeevil plans of getting rich with Proofs and buying my new staff with it, since you only get one chance to sell it on the AH now. :(

Unfortunately, EoJ has been nerfed into oblivion (for the second time...). Most public event quests give 50 points now, rather than 300-400.

The Zone:

Imo, this is probably much better designed then Merhdin, at least the zone itself. I haven't started questing yet (only did half the quests in Merhdin before I hit 77, so might be awhile before my Morrok line gets to Srybal), and I've only walked across the zone once, but the zone seems to have a lot less glaring issues then Merhdin (Bingo mountain, AoE's not working at all in Korum Dome, mount animation broken when walking over certain places, etc.)

Also, came across a zone boss while exploring, was un-attackable and did not aggro when I got close. Could be a possible worldboss thats either bugged or an be unlocked somehow by questing.

The only past of the zone I dislike is the area near the new instance. Lots of fog, couldn't see anything, and massive lag hell.

And there seems to be a bug with the character portrait. It now shows your neck, rather than your toon's face. Was fun staring at my neck.

So Overall, I think this is a much better patch than the Merhdin Tundra (which was a catastrophic failure beyond belief). Some changes I definately hope will be undone (EoJ, honor points, having 100 million million sieges with pretty much nobody in every siege). I'd give it an 8/10.

I'll say that the patch did have some nice things.

I'm glad they had a knight rework. It looks like it was pretty good so far. This brings some hope back into the game. It makes me think, maybe they are giving smaller, possibly more frequent, content packages to take more time and rework classes and other issues with the game.

I just hope a scout rework is on the way.

Another thing is the currency update was pretty neat. I'm glad i constantly spent my honor points on stocking up mats for potions.

Also the new zone appears to have a fair enough amount of quests to hit level 80 after a few days (while doing your dailies every day over a few days).

More siege war times are great, less lagg and crashes. And more rewards.

Edit: I like the amount of critical resistance on the gear. That it is equal to the amount of critical hit rate players get on the same level gear. That was a smart idea. Only down side is that there is only 7 pieces. Still, those 7 pieces look like they could potentially null out a good 30-40% of players critical hit rate, and that is a huge buffer to PvP damage.

Things I don't really like.

Public event changes. There is not that many people on palenque to get 6000 points in 1 zone in 20 minutes. My arrowheads went from worth some decent money, to nothing as well lol.

The little bug with your face is also strange, I'm guessing because my character is short is why I see mostly black, and a little bit of the top of my head.

New zone is quite laggy.

Memementos weapons and gear, mostly worthless.

Eoj gear almost entirely worthless.

Lack of things mentioned in the patch notes themself.

Edit: After looking at the PvP gear. 3% damage reduction, even if you were to tier it to try and get as much out of it, if you were to T7 stat that, and if it was OD (which it should if it's just PvP gear since PvP doesn't really wear down dura it would be cheap to hammer) it would only give 4.68% damage reduction. And if you ambitious enough to T8 it would be 5.04%

So that's kind of a downer, unless there is a full set. (earrings, rings, necklaces, cape) Then I could see 4.68% x 14 = 65.52% damage reduction. That would be a good start to fixing PvP. But it appears as though there is only 7 items, so 32.76% ehhh. That isn't enough. I could still see myself getting 1-2 shotted and it still being whoever stuns/silences/attacks quicker.

Things I absolutely hate.

No changes to the rogue and W/M problem.

And most of all (of course) another scout nerf.

I'd say for pve, probably an 8/10

For pvp 1.5/10 - Siege times are terrible, more siege times lowers the participation for each one (eg 4 battles with like 10 people compared to 1 battle with 20), honor points being zapped away (I have like 540k of them, haven't been in a "real" siege since as I said before - the times are terrible, oh and the matchups that do happen are even more lopsidedly set up than previously. Guilds can also easily lose on purpose during the fake siege to quickly tank points for the time they officially register.

Not to mention my old friend arena still gets no love and has that 80% insta close still in effect and crazy long immunities after anyone dies (but that's another issue).

Is your character particularly tall? I have a short, human, character and all I see is the top of his hat in the portrait.

The zone so far looks pretty good, except the area you mentioned. Not sure what they were going for, some kind of dirty clouds look? Because you rise out of it after that first hill. Drop that brown fog/smog and I would have no complaints about the looks.

One major gripe I have is the lack of both General and Potion merchants. I had forgotten to grab some health pots before going out to explore and I had to actually back up about 5 feet to get to a potion merchant. Granted I had forgotten that general merchants also sell pots so I could have only backed up 3 feet, but still, just unconscionable to have so few of these vendors. I mean, would it hurt to put them, say, shoulder to shoulder, lining the path?

Just another scout nerf which they tried to hide by adding a new area.

I like what they did with summoning towers on siege. Make usage quicker and prevent placing towers where you cannot reach. About the blue drops on new zone. I think now I can get my T11 done.

Wednesday, June 5th 2013, 3:13pm

and siege towers are lv80... i do not remember in the patch them touching on the siege aspects and yet they reallllly reamp'd it... the honor points capped bothers me abit, i was ranked 30th on my server unless i miss something, because points are capped now, im out almost 250k in honorpoints with no warning or compensation :(

but over all i believe its a good patch, so far my guildmates and i are leveling up and encountering no bugs, in quests, in siege, in grinding :) in the new festival, always a perk when a patch goes in pretty damm flawlessly, currency tab is interesting, wish they'd included phirius tokens i have a chestfull :P

Seems like pvp mechanics are gonna be pretty broken. Increase in dmg reduction as people pvp gear while healing stays the same is gonna turn siege into who has the most tanky people with a dedicated healer.

To guy talking abouut xi stats: They're the xi version of the chrysalia stats afaik so no problems with stacking.

here are my good bad and ugly thoughts on 6.0

The good

I like the new zones layout. while it is linear it allows for a little play of motion

I'm enjoying the storyline for the epic quest. I've always been a story reader and its been fun so far

Overall the quests aren't to badly discribed in the write up for each. "with one or two minor exceptions

Currency tab is great !

The Bad

The find missing bag quest that you have to get ontop of a mountain is a pickle. took me 10 mins just to find the path up.

Some mob pathing is a little buggy "the undead for instance"

The major nerf to Arrows and eggs in Merdin will make EoJ much more difficult "at least till we find a replacement area"

The Ugly

SW and honor points. Currently half our guild is terrified of doing SW till this situation is sorted out. The fact that it wasnt included in the patch notes & that there has been no official repsonse makes it more difficult.
Broken quests. not sure how it didn't get checked but the skeleton quest is broken and I am hearing folks having trouble with the main quest line.

Absolutely zero response from the blues or greens on any of the major issues "Normal I suppose" but even a simple "we are aware of that issue" would be better than what we have seen

Patch notes were probably the worst we have seen in describing changes. It felt like it was thrown together in 10 seconds.

lets look at the primary bullets

  • Title System "what exactly did they do to it?"
  • Siege War adjustments "that's the description for what they did to SW? seriously !"
  • New reward system "umm ok?"
  • Currency integration "I liked it !"
  • Crafting system optimization " vague"
  • Gathering system optimization "vague"
  • Monster Compendium "great what did ya do to it"
  • Adjustment of displayed upper limit during trading "irrelevent"
  • Pets (AOE damage) "?"
  • Support button " does it make our tickets get answered faster?"
  • Rune system update – added runes: Tyrant, Assassin, Sage. "looking forward to these"
  • Level Cap increased to Level 80. "Yeah !"

pvp gear says it comes with random attributes...what stats do you "pull" with them...worth farming points for?

mages should stack dex. word.

There are no mementos drop on easy/hard mode for new ini
There is a rip off for your 5 years worked honor points
There is another nerf for scouts to 180 range now, even if it doesnt matter much its still another scout nerf
You can still fight 2 guilds at once in sw
In my opinion this patch is worst that ch5

Honor gear seems to come with two random stats. The stat pool seems to include some Yellow XIs and some high greens. I pulled one piece with two yellows and one piece with a green and a yellow.

Oh, and to whoever was talking about stacking the %damage reduction, I believe there are 5 pieces, and the set bonus includes an extra 12% damage reduction.

7 pieces (a 4 piece set and a 3 piece set), plus a ring and an earring (no set).

However I would like to point out it does say damage resistance not damage reduction so my guess is that it would work like spell resists (it hits or it doesn't, no middle ground)
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.

You can upgrade your titles so that they have attributes/stats associated with them. Go to Varanas bridge and talk to Twace Kaht. Turn in for the quest she gives you is at the Class Hall. After you've done that, there's a daily quest and various other dialogue options regarding the new title system. Have fun exploring that content! :)

Pretty disappointed with it on the whole.
Things they have off the radar:
- Dark Damage is broken across the board STILL (Warlocks are still subpar, and D/R has no reason to use their Elite skills over Earth Damage skills)
- P/W is still just OK, nothing it excels at and it hasn't been changed
- Alternative classes still get the short end (R/D, D/R, W/D, W/P, P/W, WL/?, W/WL, etc.)
- No permanent backpacks in the diamond shop
- Still no way of leveling up secondary class past 55 unless you quest backwards or do dailies, which takes a pretty unreasonable amount of time unless you spend too much gold/real money on aiming for 60+ on secondary/third class.

Things they did right:
- Knight Rework (Not so sure about this one, but we'll see in time)
- New stats, old ones are cheap as dirt
- Currency interface, no more taking up my backpack space

Things they did that made me go "WTF WERE YOU THINKING?":
- Zodiac pet compendium: Seriously wtf is the point of this if they are hidden?
- Siege times: I can't even figure out the interface for it...
- Patch notes: I feel like RW is just writing the stuff they wished they could fix...

All in all, most of the underlying issues with the game got completely ignored, yet again. It's cool that we got new stuff but it further alienates those of us who try to make these things work, the least you could do is meet us half-way...

If I may ask, what do you mean by "hidden"? Here's what mine looks like:
