New forum software - Feedback only!

Hello everyone!

As you already noticed, we moved to new board software.

In this thread we would like to gather your opinions, suggestions what you think should be changed, problems you enountered while browsing forum and all kind of things you wish to change.
No matter how much we tried I'm sure there will be a million small things that need to be fixed later.

the biggest things I see wrong are

1

no button to view new posts "Kind of a big deal please fix this soon"

2

difficult to see who the CM's and GM's are "the cm posts do not appear green as they should"

3

it reads as if every post I make must be approved by an admin BEFORE It will appear on the forum

First thing I noticed, who's connected is enabled, it's good to know we have someone on the board from staff that might help us in case we need a quick answer. Also, this collor is way better than the one we had before, I can read without hurting my eyes! And to finish, for those who like to snoop on EU boards, hey, they're already here!

1. It's there but you need to find it. Maybe there were no new posts? At least you have umber of new posts in brackets in each section. That's something you didnt have before

2. Thats why you have Team List. And our nicknames will also be colored. And why is it really important? :p

1. Must log in prior to viewing anything. Extra clicks to get to simple viewing. Not "instant gratification".

2. " and & in place of " and & characters. Not sure if this is all posts or only new posts, but makes post subject hard to read.

Garbage, can it OR allow us to view it in the old style...that is if Mika has ever seen the old forums.

I understand your frustration, especially since you lived with old forum for so long. But unfortunatelly it won't go back on old.
We just opened it and I know there is reallyl ots of things to be fixed here. So please be patient and we will try to make it user friendly.

Thanks, I wish you would be around to thank others along with myself on our "constructive" remarks, or at least consider the logical/common sense approach to issues that plague your publishing company.

You know like.

1. Changes to the game without any notification (blablabla eula)

2. Ignoring the pleas for your playerbase to have certain aspects of the game FIXED...F i x e d, on a routine basis.

3. Reworking the item shop

4. Not starving your playerbase from items that you know you can put on sale every 2 months to exploit their needs. Pathetic.

These forums strike an interesting comparison with the game, the worse they get the less people you will see active. It's hilarious because it is not my wallet that these changes effect it's mika and the rest at whatever 3rd world country you moved the office too.

Not a fan of Burning Board myself, but at least a few publishers have switched their forums to Burning Board this year so I guess it's the new "thing." Kind of weird though because Burning Board definitely gets negative points in design and organization categories...it's clearly not a polished, professional forum software to use. However, for a game like RoM that is already dated and has points against it, a poor forum format is at the bottom of the list of concerns.

Not sure I *** LIKE *** it yet, but it certainly is more readable and less eye abusive that before.

EDIT- I do like the double click to mark as read feature, and skip to new message green arrow is eye-catching too.

First impressions

1) Yay! Black on light background. Finally! Only on the Gameforge default style though, which is meh. The ROM style is better looking, except for the dark/light inversion.

2) Some things are not there or perhaps I just don't see them. Like mark thread read, etc.

3) Sigpics are lost? I retrieved mine from cache, but looks like that is one functionality not carried forward.

4) Smileys are... umm... very smiley. :dash:

And some little less than appropriate.

5) Mark forum as read should mark all threads as read. It doesn't seem to do that.

Still looking.

Can I be a greenie? Looks like I can. So, how would mentors/mods stand out?
