Poor AU, forgotten by Gameforge for the third time this month lol.

And go go Yoman!!! You should take the job :D

I'm liking Gameforge Karlsrshe already :) First thing they do when they come in is communicate ^^ Looks like both Phelan and Thepit will be posting announcements on the US forum too: the Hack/Dupe issue and what happen

Also, I noticed that Thepit's title is "CoMa Replacement". Anyone know what that means?

usergroup picture/avatar placeholder methinks. CoMa = Community Manager

27

Wednesday, July 24th 2013, 4:34pm

Yeah I have to agree, I am starting to think the move is just going to be way better than any of us would have guessed. The ones there might have gotten our message that communication goes a long way. Being able to say "we haven't fixed it but here is what we are doing atm" can diffuse a lot of people.

"CoMa replacement" is our designation for the person who is covering for our Community Manager(s) when they are on vacation/sick leave/whatever. That way you are always aware who is covering if the person officialy in charge is not around at any given moment. And AU is not forgotten, trust me, we are well aware of its existance and the fact it was neglected for a very long time, and are trying to fix that.

I think with this amount of activity from the new people "CoMa Replacement" takes a very literal meaning in comparison to previous CMs.
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.

Sorry guys, but with the amount of 'trying' you'll have to do now, I will guarantee it isn't worth it. The only way you could bring people back to AU is to do as has been suggested for YEARS and drastically change the item shop so it doesn't give everyone the idea of "hey, look at that, Gameforge is ripping us off, charging stupid amounts of $$ for computer generated 'goods' which cost you almost nothing to produce'".

Either that or remove AU for good....Transfer's if you cared for the community or just delete the lot, though I know the later is much more likely.

Imo, the most important issue for AU is the ping, from what I've seen. The IS is not new, and AU has survived for quite a while with it. But with the server farm move to US, AU server has pretty much had the majority of the players leave within a month.

if they ever get server change tickets or server merges working for RoM . Thalia would probably one of the best candidates. Or if they're going to keep the server, atleast put it into the US siege realm. Give the folks atleast SOMETHING to do, even if it is only trying to kill gigi et al in siege while lemonater distracts them with "englissh" even worse than their own :D /me runs

I wish that was true. The ping certainly didn't help, but it wasn't that which broke the server. We went from AUSTRALIAN GM's to the useless retards that ran the US side. That was the first step towards our server's downfall.

It wasn't the actual ping increase from the move that pissed us all off, it was the total lack of response to the situation that got on everyone's nerves. One random maint we log back in and we have gone from 60 ping ~ 300+ ping. For over a month we requested ANY information/response on the issue and got NOTHING, even now we have no response about it.

And since then the server has been getting worse and worse. There literally isn't a single raiding guild left on server, they have all quit from the greed and complete lack of respect from Gameforge. A majority went to the private server (Nexon) due to having an actual Item shop that didn't scream "GIVE ME YOUR MONIES!!!". (I love rom, but I can't stand the priv server, too easy and no challenge xD). Would rather they just shut down AU than leave it in the state it is. It's depressing :/

yesterday evening first guild round table with ProductCM ThePit - was very interesting and promising judging from the recording i have. And yes it was in german.

We're currently working on publishing the 45mins of it on RoM-Welten where ThePit talked because we have an OK for it - for the Q&A session to release as audio we'd need the ok from everyone who talked as it would be rather incomplete without the user questions- this is kinda work in progress. There are individually hosted recordings available just check the subforum "ThePits heisser Stuhl" (ThePits hotseat) on DE board.

Text version of atleast what ThePit said will follow later, the total recording including Q&A session is 4 1/2 hours unfiltered - we first need to write it all down in german before i can actually start translating. Might as well take a few days or a week.

Maybe the more important info for some: he's going to do it monthly now that the first test worked out pretty well.
My personal guess would be that english-only speakers particitpating is not a problem as long as enough people are online who'd be willing to translate in both directions , but that's something you better ask ThePit either via PN or email (find it here, he posted the address himself)

some people even doubt that the language you are posting in is english - now you're telling me you understand german? ;)

Translating German to lemon is kinda pointless since so few people can read lemon. You'll have more audience with Esperanto or Klingon translation. Heck, I bet even Quechua (Inca language) has more active readers than lemon.

Since they actually made the 25-year old Star Trek joke true and translated Shakespeare into Klingon everything is possible i guess...
