Game Rules

Thoughts, opinions?

"• Names with unnecessary or random letter, number and special character combinations may be changed on a case basis by the RoM team." really? I'm pretty sure i like my x's on my name.. no need for them to be changed imo..

"• The official language in this game is English / Spanish / Polish / French / Italian (per Country). This corresponds to the game servers, the board and the official IRC chat rooms.
• Trade chat, map chat and normal chat is in English. Use of other languages should remain within group or whispered/private chats. Mentors reserve the right to "silence" users for a period of time without warning." Seriously? that's stupid too, we have a number of pinnoy players on our server that speak in tagalog, sure limit the players that can play, makes sense.

"● the use of illegal software that has been created for Runes of Magic but has not been released or endorsed by Gameforge4D is not permitted and results in a ban. Players are not permitted to decrypt, hack or manipulate data coming from or going to the Runes of Magic servers." So what your saying is where it was found where gameforge has been the ones selling gold to players, articles from past games, that's okay? Makes sense. Seems legit.

"It is strictly forbidden and against the T&Cs to sell, procures or offer accounts or items." I dont udnerstand this when then later you say "Exchange item for item free of charge.Exchange item for GOLD (the 'normal' trade).

The equal trade of game items is allowed." care to elaborate?

Happy to see some action finalY!

Confused on the date when they implement. Looks like a mistake? some things are great, others extreme.Why would it matter what language used in world chat? As long as it is not bad language.
Gold selling is oked? surprised at that.Unless I am confused at what I am reading which is possible . :lol:

Alot of people will be very upset as they are used to being able to run wild and do whatever they please regardless of any rules and happy to offend over and over. Will ROM lose players if they actauly do inforce this? We will see... :evilgrin:

Notice it said the trade of items for diamonds is not allowed. Considering a lot of Items(gear) are traded for diamonds....... I find this one to be quite funny. Specially when you just put 1g in ah for x amount of diamonds. and Gear magically appears in the other persons mail.

I think that "exchange items for dias" thing is to protect players from scammers.

basically, the rules break down to: play nice, don't scam people & your account is yours alone.

AH is still viable: if you wanna put up 1000 dias for 1 gold, they're not gonna give you too much crap.

GM's just don't wanna see people worlding, "will pay 1000 dias for such-and-such"

It's old Military law... Mica is letting us know what the GMs are gonna look for. Read it, digest it and live within those boundaries; you now know what is considered an infringement.

Yeah i just dont understand it, along with the language barrier, are they trying to lose players? Maybe they should keep a gm on at ALL times, then theyll see how much foul language is said on palenque in world, especially the spanish players rofl

Me done hast two instant thoughts.

1. As longer as we continue ter agree ter the TOS that Frogster America done set up fer us over 2 yrs ago, Gameforge can make up all the rules they done like, we still be under FA rules. They needeth ter fixer this post haste.

2. Enforcement o these rules tis gonner be impossible witout GMS. Would be nice ter see these rules enforced, but doubt it twill happen, which meaneth that Gameforge tis gonner haver MORE egg on face. Sigh. Me doth keep hopin. We hast more Forum mods than we know what ter do wit, but no real game support. Pretty sad.

(as fer the diamond fer item exchange, they never hast encouraged it as a safe medium fer trade, but overlooked it. When yer getteth scammed tho, don't cry ter them, cause they no allowed it. See what they did there?)

In all honesty, that all encourages players to scam, because nothing will be done about it.

Item for item free of charge refers to using the in-game trade window without being charged some kind of "tax" similar to the one the Auction House has. Item for gold is essentially the same thing, except in this case one party is willing to trade (buy/sell) using gold. ie. "I'll buy your gear for 25m meet me Varanas Central ch1"

To be honest this one at first didn't make much sense but here goes. Basically exchange of equal trade items means trading exactly the same item. ie." I'll trade you my tier 11 Sandos' Claw without OD for your tier 4 Sandos' Claw with OD +16" or " I'll trade you my gear with the 4 rune slots open for your gear (exactly same piece) without the rune slots but +8"

As for the exchange of items for diamonds, that one is going to be a little tough to enforce but I certainly understand why they put it in place. Because Diamonds are not physically stored in your inventory but rather charged to your account, similar to the currency list introduced on chapter 6.0.0. , if you buy/sell an item you need to have a lot of faith the other party will meet their obligation, which they are not mandatory forced to. In other words, if you sell/buy an item for dias you better hope the other person will indeed pay. This is mainly in place in order to reduce headaches and scammers. A possible solution might be make diamonds physical, that is, be able to trade them freely in-game using the "normal" trade window.

Remember, RW put in the 2ndary password solely to prevent others from hacking a player's account and giving away their real life cash ( diamonds ).

The AH is the safest place to do this trading and it falls in-line w/ what has been given us.

The rules are simply there to prevent the age-old: *sniff* so-and-so said he'd trade me a 120 dura Tatha top +16 t8 w/ orange stam/def's for 1000 dias... He put up 1 gold for the 1000 dias and still hasn't mailed me the top... blah blah whine whine

Basically, saying... don't whine to GF if/when someone robs you blind since there are in-game methods of acceptable trade.

If they like to prevent outcries like that, then they should enable DIAS in AH. (not just gold dias exchange)

You would be able to post an item for DIAS, instead to posting it for gold.

It removes unnecessary zeros... makes it easier, especially if DIAS are close to 100K

Chance of this being done... slim to none.

Gigi, care to provide links where it has been proven that RW was selling gold to players?

As for 'New Rules', are they under impression that all RoM players are visiting forum?? This looks (and sounds) like major rule for web based game(s).

If I recall.. dias were usable as currency in AH at one point in time... but FA pulled it because it became ridiculous since nobody would put up any gear for gold. Gold became worthless.

That article was from 2 years ago. & in the article, it says that GF dropped their partnership almost as soon as it was forged.

What have you done in the past 2 years? Anything embarrassing? ;)

Just saying, go with it. Enjoy your time playing RoM. Unless you're in the biz to buy/sell player accounts; these "new" rules don't change anything that most legit players are doing anyway.

I would like an in game GM at all times, as i thought there use to be, but they cut staff, so honestly without one there isnt a real way to enforce it imo.

It was written in the euro method, they use dd/mm/yr, we use mm/dd/yr. The rules go into effect Sept 1, 2013.
