§ 1 Name Entry
• Names with unnecessary or random letter, number and special character combinations may be changed on a case basis by the RoM team.
What about those that have been here since before GF took over? Are they to be penalized or changed on a whim by GF?
§ 3 Chat in Game
• The official language in this game is English / Spanish / Polish / French / Italian (per Country). This corresponds to the game servers, the board and the official IRC chat rooms.
Care to specify a dialect or region for each of the above mentioned languages? for example, from my understanding, Spanish spoken in Spain is nothing like Spanish spoken in South America.
• Trade chat, map chat and normal chat is in English. Use of other languages should remain within group or whispered/private chats. Mentors reserve the right to "silence" users for a period of time without warning.
Does this mean, that since Mentors are players (or are supposed to be) that hey are now to be considered "in-game police, policía, policja, police, polizia with special in-game powers while playing their respective chars?
• Use of abbreviations for vulgar language is not permitted. This also applies to the chat filters.
I am guessing that this is for expressions such as "wtf and/or bs", but it does call into question words such as cave. Since cave is filtered by the game, we now get silenced for typing it as ca.ve?
• Text content that contains vulgar or offensive language is not permitted and can lead to a lock out from the game depending on the severity of the offence.
See above
• Each individual chat is to be used only for its specific function (e.g. trading in war chat is not permitted).
Let me see if I have this correct...While in siege, using battle chat, I can no longer as my guild-mates to trade to me their merits when it is my turn to collect as to become herald?
• Mentors reserve the right to silence, kick or in extreme circumstances ban players without warning should the rules be broken.
Again, does this mean that mentors will have "special" in-game powers?
§ 3a Spam
• Please do not spam the chats. Spamming is defined as the repeated sending of a message in short time frames in trade, normal, war or map chats.
Please clarify what you mean by "short time frame" There are those of us who sell plussing/cleaning/t-stone creation services. We are subject to silence/ban for selling these?
• Publishing links or information that have nothing to do with Runes of Magic as well as other games is not permitted.
Does this apply to only non-gameforge games or are the other games published by gameforge open for discussion? If the other GF games cannot be spoken about, kindly stop sending me the links in my e-mail as those are openly discussed with others in my guild.
§ 3d Chat/Trade Macros
With immediate effect, if needed, macro users can be kicked or banned for a period of time.
So, again, will there now be in-game police for this?
If I am reading his correctly, anytime a guild is recruiting, the guildy with the most world shouts at that time usually creates just such a macro. This rule implies we have to re-type the entire recruitment message over and over again. Care to comment?
Trade macros are allowed provided they do not spam the chat. Macros with other content are not permitted and will be deleted in order to minimize macro spamming.
Trade macros are only permitted in the trade chat provided for such activity.
Again, please clarify your time table as it applies to the definition of spamming, i.e. how many times are we allowed to send the same message and in what kind of time frame.
§ 4 Bugs
Should you find a bug, use it and then profit by doing so, you risk facing a lock out from the game for a period of time. Bugs should be reported on the forum, to a Mentor or to support.
With regards to reporting bugs on the forums, I guess you mean in the bug section. If this is the case, is there going to be a relaxing of the requirement that we use the template?
§ 5 Cheating
● manipulating the client is forbidden.
● the use of illegal software that has been created for Runes of Magic but has not been released or endorsed by Gameforge4D is not permitted and results in a ban. Players are not permitted to decrypt, hack or manipulate data coming from or going to the Runes of Magic servers.
Is GF now endorsing Curse.com, or is it now required that I empty my add-on file?
● the usage of third party programs or macros for the purpose of altering or automatizing the game flow are prohibited and will lead to a ban.
See above, as there are 2 add-ons that I use regularly that fall into this category as breaking the rules. After all the time and money spent on this game, I would rather not find I have been banned for a add-on I got from curse that may or may not still be available there
§ 5b Third Party Programs
The use of third-party programs completely forbidden. If someone is caught using such programs and is banned for this reason, their account will remain banned indefinitely!
Please see 5a bolded question with regards to curse.com add-ons
6a.
You may:
Exchange item for item free of charge.
Exchange item for GOLD (the 'normal' trade).
The equal trade of game items is allowed.
You may not:
Exchange items for Dias (such as "I offer you my Equip for 1000 Dias" or similar).
Other posts have pointed to this one. So, I am gold poor, but just went out and spent 20, 50, or 100$ on a diamond sale package. I now have to rely on the AH to get my diamonds sold for the express purpose of buying the T-10 Shackles someone has for sale instead of just gifting them items from the Item shop equivalent to the gold price they were asking?
§ 9a Mentor / Supporter PMs
Players assume all responsibility for reacting to private in-game messages from the Mentor / Supporter team.
If no answer should appear within a fairly long period of time, yet the player continues to operate within the game, the Mentor / Supporter team will then assume that the player is not using the approved software to reproduce the gameplay in its automated form.
I am hoping that the Mentor/supporter at least identifies themselves as such. I have been known to ignore random whispers many many many times in the past, as when I do respond it is usually followed by a request for gold and my block list is quite full
§ 10 Combo Ban Rules
A combo ban rule is affected when a significant rule is broken in the forum. This then applies to the game account in-game.
Rule infringements which will in future lead to in-game punishment are as follows:
- Multi-accounts in the forum
I have been wanting to ask about this since the banner started at the top of the forums screen.. What if you don't remember whether you have multiple accounts or not? Is there a way to check before the ban-hammer falls?
