Yes, it needs to be fixed, but it is not like there is nothing you can do. As mentioned, there are two ramps, and anyone who goes up the one with toon-freezing water elementals instead of fairly harmless fire elementals has only himself to blame. Separating bosses from mobs is not that hard either- bosses chase you very far, mobs don't. You are not supposed to fight them in same place if you get 2x or 3x.
Especially when leading lowbies, a class with reliable AOE is good as leader. Even better is someone with reliable no-cd no-cast time distance attack. 1-hit is a must, but you still need to be able to thin the train as you are running away if you miss and set off a group.
My shell alts (using semi-dirty statted blue quest gear, so not exactly OP) used to die in 2x, now they complete it reliably. Main just zips through 2x, I am sure 3x would be harder but doable. And sure, I have to kite once in a while and there is a bit of time pressure, but it can be done.
None of it means this is not a problem and it should not be fixed. It should. Just that any bug fixing has to be prioritized according to severity, and this one is not *that* severe.
