you all realize, gold spammers driving up diamond prices is the most ridiculous thing to say right... Here is why.
Why would a gold spammer want the average player to get MORE gold from their RL money through normal means in the game? Lets explore this....
1) Gold spammers make their money by? You got it, people buying gold from them. Ok, The recent spam I saw said 100 mil for $7.80 dollars, down from $10 dollars a month ago.
2) When a person buys diamonds for RL cash they get, lets say 1000, for $20 on a sale. They sell them in the AH @160k per, lets say. They get 160 million or about $12.50 RL dollars.
Ok so if a gold seller drives up the price of diamonds, that means more gold for the average players RL dollar... which makes them LESS likely to buy gold from the gold spammer, or the gold spammer has to drop their price, which means less money for them. So WHY would someone drive their own profits down??? It makes NO sense.
Also as diamond prices have gone up, gold spammer price has gone down. That is the opposite then if it was the gold spammers that are doing it. It literally makes NO sense, why gold spammers would drive diamond prices up, just to drive their own prices down.
That would be like McDonalds helping Burger king, so that McDonalds had to reduce their prices..... WHO WOULD DO THAT????
It is NOT the gold spammers. It is that less and less people are buying diamonds. Inflation of gold values in game, since there are not enough gold sinks for players, means the inflation of diamond prices... Plain and simple. Supply, Demand, and inflation. Those are the reasons diamond prices are so high.
Edit to add: Making it less attractive to buy their gold hurts their profits/money. If a player wants gold and goes "I can buy from a gold spammer ill get 200 mil for 16 bucks, and I might get banned"... or I can buy diamonds at 20 dollars and make 160mil... Which option will most take: the one that doesn't get you banned. So by making it more attractive to buy diamonds legit, they are hurting themselves. I don't know of any business that would do that.
When diamonds were 8k per, 20 bucks got you like 8 mil. A gold spammer wanted to sell you 25 mil for 20 bucks.. That seemed like a better deal.... Plus you could get scammed selling diamonds. Now with diamonds in the AH, you cant get scammed, you are getting close to the same to just buy from a gold spammer, and you are buying from the company, which is trustworthy, and you don't get banned. Seems like a no brainer on the player end.
Also when diamonds were 40k a pop you had all the hackers that were making free diamonds... That flooded the market, creating a false impression of what diamonds prices really were. You had a time when diamonds were 80k a pop on Artemis... then all of a sudden for no apparent reason (at the time), they slowly dropped to 40k a pop, why would they with inflation and with all those people saying they weren't spending money? It wasn't Cedric. Then all of a sudden, we find out people are hacking diamonds and selling them. Those people get banned, that hack gets fixed.... And diamond prices sky rocketed. What the case was is that diamonds would have naturally inflated up to where they are now in that time, if it wasn't for the hackers driving prices down. This is evident by how many less stacks of diamonds that are in the AH vs how many were there before the hack was fixed. Before there was 500+ almost at all times, now you see less than 200 usually. Less supply, cause no hackers artificially creating supply.
Plus on artemis, looking at the history of the diamond purchases also doesn't support this claim that it is gold spammers buying them.
