Diamonds asnd gold spammers

Dear ROM management,

I wish you would please follow your own rules. Your gold spammers are driving diamond prices so high the average player cannot buy diamonds in game. If you wish to keep your good players I suggest you try to remedy this. Also, if there are issues with you buying diamonds with credit cards and ultimate game cards that you please try to fix these as my cards are not working.

Thanks for listening to an old woman that has been playing this game from beta.........

What the OP is talking about is the spammer buying up the diamonds in the ah, players seeing those diamonds sold and post them for higher prices each time. Gold spammers have caused the price on Govinda from about 75-80k per up to 125k currently.

Well we have the same on Reni, the only exception is that it's players that did it not the spammers, greedy people who are trying to control the prices.

If i'd be running the game i would give them a 1 month ban for manipulating the AH prices therefore making it impossible for new players to have access to them.

It's a game and people are trying to rule it like if it was real life jobs, sad people and not worth much in my opinion.

One way to fix this would be to make dias purchased from AH to be bound/locked to the account.

We know RW/GF can do this because we had locked dias & unlocked dias before.

As I already said, if they bring Cedric back, no on will buy AH dias... ANW, I don't care any more I just do dailies with my main and nothing else cause is so frustrating that GF have no control at all to enforce their own rules.

you all realize, gold spammers driving up diamond prices is the most ridiculous thing to say right... Here is why.

Why would a gold spammer want the average player to get MORE gold from their RL money through normal means in the game? Lets explore this....

1) Gold spammers make their money by? You got it, people buying gold from them. Ok, The recent spam I saw said 100 mil for $7.80 dollars, down from $10 dollars a month ago.

2) When a person buys diamonds for RL cash they get, lets say 1000, for $20 on a sale. They sell them in the AH @160k per, lets say. They get 160 million or about $12.50 RL dollars.

Ok so if a gold seller drives up the price of diamonds, that means more gold for the average players RL dollar... which makes them LESS likely to buy gold from the gold spammer, or the gold spammer has to drop their price, which means less money for them. So WHY would someone drive their own profits down??? It makes NO sense.

Also as diamond prices have gone up, gold spammer price has gone down. That is the opposite then if it was the gold spammers that are doing it. It literally makes NO sense, why gold spammers would drive diamond prices up, just to drive their own prices down.

That would be like McDonalds helping Burger king, so that McDonalds had to reduce their prices..... WHO WOULD DO THAT????

It is NOT the gold spammers. It is that less and less people are buying diamonds. Inflation of gold values in game, since there are not enough gold sinks for players, means the inflation of diamond prices... Plain and simple. Supply, Demand, and inflation. Those are the reasons diamond prices are so high.

Edit to add: Making it less attractive to buy their gold hurts their profits/money. If a player wants gold and goes "I can buy from a gold spammer ill get 200 mil for 16 bucks, and I might get banned"... or I can buy diamonds at 20 dollars and make 160mil... Which option will most take: the one that doesn't get you banned. So by making it more attractive to buy diamonds legit, they are hurting themselves. I don't know of any business that would do that.

When diamonds were 8k per, 20 bucks got you like 8 mil. A gold spammer wanted to sell you 25 mil for 20 bucks.. That seemed like a better deal.... Plus you could get scammed selling diamonds. Now with diamonds in the AH, you cant get scammed, you are getting close to the same to just buy from a gold spammer, and you are buying from the company, which is trustworthy, and you don't get banned. Seems like a no brainer on the player end.

Also when diamonds were 40k a pop you had all the hackers that were making free diamonds... That flooded the market, creating a false impression of what diamonds prices really were. You had a time when diamonds were 80k a pop on Artemis... then all of a sudden for no apparent reason (at the time), they slowly dropped to 40k a pop, why would they with inflation and with all those people saying they weren't spending money? It wasn't Cedric. Then all of a sudden, we find out people are hacking diamonds and selling them. Those people get banned, that hack gets fixed.... And diamond prices sky rocketed. What the case was is that diamonds would have naturally inflated up to where they are now in that time, if it wasn't for the hackers driving prices down. This is evident by how many less stacks of diamonds that are in the AH vs how many were there before the hack was fixed. Before there was 500+ almost at all times, now you see less than 200 usually. Less supply, cause no hackers artificially creating supply.

Plus on artemis, looking at the history of the diamond purchases also doesn't support this claim that it is gold spammers buying them.

The goldselling bots are not likely flipping the AH like players do - but they HAVE gold obtained through whatever illegal means and just buy diamonds from the AH for whatever the price when they need megaphones for spamming - they simply do not care about the price. If they could get megaphones at level 1 without spending their gold for anything they would use that. See post#3 also about further implications of this.

zidlef, using the AH for profits is legitimate gameplay for players (not for bots), if you like it or not. And asking for others to be banned just for doing something legitimate that you do not like them to do will only lead to flamewars like the one the forums just recently had about that topic. It is totally fine that you do not like it - but you will have to accept that it is legitimate gameplay and please stop calling for others being banned on that. Thanks.

yeah I agree, with the gold spammer thing... they are like cockroaches that you just cant get rid of. Tenacious little suckers. I think you all are going a far superior job with it though compared to the last few years, and expect good things.

yeah the AH thing, just cause people don't like the price people charge for gear, the flipside doesn't like the price charged for diamonds. Only real way to drop the price of diamonds is for people to not pay it. Just like with gear prices. People told me if I don't like the price of gear, don't buy it. It goes the same with the price of diamonds. The people selling them will only start dropping the price if they quit being able to sell them for what they ask. This is the only reason you see gear prices come down, is cause people aren't paying what others are asking.

Yes that means you will have to hold off on your gear and might not be able to keep yourself progressing as fast as you like. That is what gear buyers had to do, they had to be ok with being held back a little bit longer for prices to drop. That is what you will have to do if you want diamond prices to drop. The argument of "you cant play the game without diamonds" is just as false as "you can play the game without the best gear/stats". If you wanna stay at the top of the totem poll, you will have to pay what people ask for diamonds, or buy them yourself.....

I for one like the idea of you buying them yourself. Then GF makes a little more money, the market can stabilize cause less will be dependent on dias bought with gold and the whole community will flourish. 15 bucks a month doesn't kill other games in profit and it doesn't kill the players. Or you can pay the price that hard working people decide is a worthwhile amount of gold for their paychecks.

Is very simple to get rid of them.
-a simple programming will do to read hard drive serial numbers (firmware serial), this was proven easy even in HTML, in game's language, wich I don't know what it is, must be much easier
-if you ban an account for botting / hacking / gold spamming don't do ip ban, do hard drive serial ban, by doing that you can also ban whoever mains account if he / she tries to log in on same computer.

By doing that will be a lot expensive to replace hard drives / reinstall OS and game, meanwhile bringing back diamond npc for like a month, I would think would be some sort of repayment for those fair players that have been cheated all this time.

Or they could just limit world chat to players level 30 or more. Just low enough to reach easily in a couple of days and just high enough to create enough trouble to do that it would discourage a good number of them.

Or have 1 guy sit at a monitering station. As soon as the same message is said more then 3 times, it would be sent to the station and the player banned if goldspammer That way, 1 guy can check all chat on all servers.

If it takes 1 minute to create a toon and 3 seconds of spamming to get it banned, It wouldn't be worth their time.

/\ I like it, Yeah they could use a chat command to filter all world chat messages to a special IRC channel, that a gm watches. Then have it only have world chat from all servers. One person, one IRC window, ultimate control.
