Sarlo AND Belathis should currently be closed. This is intended. Please look in the tech announcements :)

Sarlo is still open on Govinda. At least, you can enter it, and I never got the message asking me to port to pioneer colony, though no mobs anywhere.

The zone is open but disabled. That is, you will not see any npc. Map and zones are stored in your computer with the game client you download but mobs and ncps are generated within the server.

This should be a no surprise given GF's history in every chapter... it's the same story. Unfinished product at the expense of the players.

Honestly.. nobody is allowed to make mistakes? NONE of you guys have screwed up? EVER?

The GF team is already pissed w/ RW for this screw-up.

We've seen that this patch passed w/ flying colors on the GF test server... a FIRST! So the patch was applied. After the patch was applied these issues popped up.

People were locked out & GF has done it's best w/ the tools they have to restore access to whomever they could; as well as lock out the new zone to prevent others from locking themselves out.

Given the situation, this is the best thing that could be done w/ the resources at hand.

For crying out loud.. this game's SOLE support is VOLUNTARY donations in the form of paying for diamonds for perks.

Would I have a different attitude if I were subscribing to this service? well.. that's a trick question, because I would have stopped playing long ago due to the mass of technical issues & support issues; BUT this is a FREE game. It's very different because I can CHOOSE to support this game financially or just play to play.

I guess if you guys don't understand this difference in models... I don't know what more to say. It's free to play, you can make as many toons as you want. I'm sorry to see ppl locked out, but GF has done what it could w/ the resources it has.

+1 well said. I'd also like to add, no one is being "forced" to stay while all of these issues are being addressed. Sub games would be a different story since you are paying either way, here if you don't play, you don't lose anything monetarily.

Under normal circumstances, they shouldn't have to compensate for lost time in a f2p. But at this point, this can hardly be considered "normal circumstances".

People are tired of every patch screwing something up, and despite ThePit's inspiring speech, every patch since then has screwed up royally, just like before. Gameforge knows they're already short on playerbase, and with this, quite a few paying players are running out of patience and ready to quit. So imo, the compensation is more of an attempt to keep their last players from leaving.

Honestly, I'd agree with what they're doing. I do believe that they're different from GF Berlin, but even then, it'd take at least a year for them to make a noticable difference, and until then, they need to keep all the population that they can until they pull through.

YCavan: Right on.

Hit the nail right on the head. Problems arise, issues happen, unforeseen consequences happen, and I for one think their handling of it is FAR better than we have seen in the past when issues arose. We said we wanted more communication, we are getting it.... so you complain cause you don't like the communication that you are getting?

I, for one, have to say they are handling it very well and RW is not the ones that have to deal with us, the customers... GF is. So that is a great position for them, they can do a halfway decent job... and then let GF mop up the mess.... If you are still getting mad at GF for in game, programming issues: Your anger is misdirected.

Issues arise, problems happen, but they should not be happening every single frieking patch. Repeatedly. For years. It's utterly ridiculous.

Yes we're happy with the communication, but the point of the matter remains that there shouldn't be this many problems all the time that REQUIRE communication. It's just sad. Sure, it's not GF's fault that RW sucks so bad, but it IS GF's fault that they're rolling out patches without testing anything or not yelling at RW enough to actually fix the game.

Kind of sad actually that servers hosted by other companies have 10x less problems than the ones run by GF. They obviously know how to do it right.

you are right though about how often it does seem to happen. I also agree that other company servers having less issues is not a good thing at all.
