If you go to the homepage us.runesofmagic.com DO NOT LOG IN USING THE POP UP. It is clearly not from gameforge because its asking for AUS email and password.

Continue clicking cancel until it goes away. It should only take 3 or 4 clicks.

Ill repeat it again... DO NOT LOG IN USING THE POPUP THAT APPEARS WHEN YOU GO TO us.runesofmagic.com

I just logged in fine using my US data and it shows my account management page so the login was successful, care to be a bit more clear what you actually mean?

SaitoHajime the web site I am seeing does not match your screen shot. Is the web site being updated? Would not be the 1st time the geoip stuff has caused problems when the rom web pages have been changed.

No this morning it wasn't part of the homepage that was asking to login. It was a physical black box popping up that stated something like " you are not authorized to view this page please login to you AUS Runes of magic account " and the black box had a space for "Account" and "Password"... then at the very bottom of the popup it said "Gameforge" however there were no registered trademarks or copyright logos at all.

I figured I would let people know about it cuz you can never be too careful with your account info

Its also not the first time something like that has happened... last time it happened was during one of the attacks on the game's website about a year or more ago iirc



P.S. if it is an intended change then maybe letting players know ahead of time when things are gonna be changed would be a good idea. Just saying...

The old website at www.runesofmagic.com is not even coming up anymore*. Probably should autoredirect for those who bookmarked it. Update: works now. Either it was slow or gotten cached somewhere.

Forum "website" link is OK now, sending to www.us.runesofmagic.com, which auto-redirects to us.runesofmagic.gameforge.com.

*This may or may not have anything to do with apparent DDOS this weekend.

The AUS site switched to this new format sometime on friday, we got switched this morning.

My two qualms are that there are no more links between the different regions and there is an absurd amount of empty space on the new site. Maybe don't be so quick to archive everything?
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.

OK...

It seems like verification of login is little too pushy. It wants the email address as login and complains that it is not in email form. But, ROM has allowed 5 game accounts per one Frogster (now GF) account, and login used to be OK with game account name, not email name. That allowed me to log into each game account associated with same email. Now it wants email. As I understand it, that is no longer the case that people can create multiple game accounts per one GF account. Still, old structure was grandfathered in.

Password... 8 characters required during login. Again... didn't used to be. Mine is shorter and was grandfathered in. So, now I can't even log in. I might be able to change it (not that I want to), but should only check during registration, not login. And anyone in IT knows that password policies that force longer/more complex/periodically changing passwords actually tend to make things less secure, since people start using predictable passwords.

*grumble, grumble* Yeah, I know, I know... :)

I'm sure they'll have the login fixed soon, since otherwise people with older accounts can't log in = can't buy diamonds. Since most remaining players are older players with rather ancient logins...

I see once again new layout and not used. The en site has news of the downtime, the us does not. Neglected again!

Is anyone else still having issues trying to log in and buy diamonds i have sent a ticket in trying to explain that i cant use the normal account info to log in to buy diamonds and i get a response back that i should be able to log in to buy diamonds with my account info and they dont understand what my issue is. i have used both my account info even after that response for 3 days now trying to log in to buy diamonds and i still cant log in. sadly with people that have been playing for years before they start making changes like this they may want to make sure people can still buy the diamonds if they continue to want to make money. I really enjoy the game i would at least like to be able to buy my own diamonds and not depend on the outrageous prices people are asking on the auction house for the diamonds.

Have you tried to clear your browser (cookies)? I had this same problem some time ago & that fixed it.

Do you have more than one account associated with the same email address?
I too had the same issue with my personal account (not able to access account page) and it was due to having more than one account tied to same email address.
If so, you might relate that info to support in a reply and I am sure they will work with you to get it sorted.

I am curious, what was the solution?

My guess would be "pick another email", in which case I am going to have to register a bunch of fake emails before contacting support.

It is a bad database design to pick a non-unique key for your record identifier (had to deal with it once at work when we used first and last name, and when our company got bought, we had conflicts). As ROM goes, email is not unique, or was not unique in the past. Account names are unique, and should've been used. Harumph!

Yes, as for my case, I had to create separate emails for each account.
But as each support case is different, I would wait for support's answer to a specific ticket for details.
I can only explain what was done to deal with my specific case.

To the original point of this thread, stop using IE. Very simple answer.

If you use IE, you WILL be hacked at some point. Period. IMO, you deserve it too. My grandparents, who know next to nothing about technology, know enough to use Firefox because I have taught them to perils of using outdated shitty technology. If you are using IE, I wish you luck, you have a very painful road ahead of you, and don't worry, a Nigerian Prince will be along shortly to offer you millions of dollars...

if thats directed at me, i use firefox, no worries thats why i was warning people if they got a strange black login box appearing as soon as the site loaded, not to use it... it only happened that one day though, hasnt happened since

Directed at anyone using IE. Just a horrible product that should stop being worked on. That, or stop letting interns have the lead of that particular project...

Requiring an email address to me just seems like a very insecure way of logging in.



As far as IE goes, even today there are sites that only seem to work right with it, and many of the processes used for networking are ted up with it in windows, so if you use windows, you can never get completely away from it.
I use cyberfox, a 64 bit version of firefox nearly all the time, switching to IE10 when there's something that doesn't work right.
I do a lot of property research, and most counties have their property maps on GIS, whch works smoothest in IE.

well thank you for the info all sent reply to the ticket but i have 2 accounts both set to different emails addresses and i cant use either email address to login in to the website much less to buy diamonds. so i guess i will have to wait til i get a response that isnt well u should be able to log in and im still not able to log in lol
