Maintenance time

Maintenance normally takes 3-4 hours, sometimes less. Today's is over 7 hours with no signs of ending soon. Anyone know why?

i was wondering same thing.. I figured more people would be complaining. But this verifys my thought that Oh look maintenance theyve screwed somwething up. The least they could do is keep us informed but wait that means they'd have to care. And yet not a word about how they screwed us out of the xp/tp weekend.

With the issue of the screwed up xp/tp this last 2 weekends \
and
Basically the bait and switch on diamond sales/ daily reset tickets and the tp xp event not happening as announced what little hope and faith I had after the big meeting is going fast. Was hoping something would be said by the powers that be about the events but nothing so far and nothing as to why the long maintenance to shore up the hope and faith in the new management. Please dont tell me we are going backwards and not forward now.

Sometimes maintenance takes time, maybe a defrag is running long, or perhaps they ran across a toaster that would perform better then the siege server while cleaning a storage room and are installing it? anyways, the point is, just be a little patient, just because something takes a while, does _not_ mean it has gone wrong.

I would rather them get it right before bringing the servers up, instead of bringing them up and possibly needing to rollback or have more issues.

I heard they prioritized the servers so the ones that has most whiny people get brought up last. Unfortunately, the script that counts those people is having hard time with sheer number of them. I expect it will be done sometimes next week.

Well, not really.

Maybe.

Seriously? u think they are gonna get something right? and come on its maintenance its a reboot

Well maybe they decided to keep them down till they do get everything working as intended, maybe thePit demanded this.

So maybe we could be a few days without access to RoM.

If so what will you do with all that free time?

NA RoM junkies will head to EU RoM....so where do I make an account for EU servers?

they can get things right... even a broken clock is right two times a day :P

You have never maintained a production server, have you?

Maintenance periodically entails things like defraging storage, running maintenance processes on databases, replacing a failed drive from a multi-disk array, possibly full backup or server imaging, and various other things. and that's assuming nothing has gone wrong with the server between maintenances.

well then we could be a long time with the amount of crashes and lag weve had due to their game not including everything else that is wrong with the game

@frederick55.... why are you trying to stir the pot? nobody seems to be raging except you, sure people are upset but stop trying to instigate the crowd even further, it will not produce any good results at all

you will probably end up getting threads closed for no reason, calm down, go watch tv or take a nap, when you get back the servers might be up again and you can go about your RoM day normally afterwards

I am glad the servers are down, it means they are working on things. Sometimes that means a lot of fixes we so desperately need in rom. With two weekend events being sabotaged I would hope they are trying to get things inline so we do not have these issues again. Being a rom player for over 5 years now I am impressed with the response times of mentors and community managers to the issues this weekend. Was a mere 8 minutes before someone knew there was a problem. I can say that is far better than anything we have seen thus far in the rom community. While we were not able to have a fix this weekend I am sure they will make it up to us. Another thing that has never been done is a sorry/makeup for a mistake. That in my book is a huge step forward for our rom leaders. While I still have many problems with the marketing strategies we must take this a step at the time.

Yeah, honestly, I don't mind a long maint (unless it takes so long that we miss a siege time. I can deal with most things, but take siege away and I will RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGE :P ), as long as they do it right. Now, taking an extra long maint and having the server screwed up after maint is something else, but we'll see.

The reason the servers are not up is because it was all a dream, there was never really Usa and Aus servers. We were all in a trial for Lucid MMO Gaming. Welcome back to reality

Either that or they are moving the servers and we all will be ping riddled.....

It is 9 pm there now, we are coming up on the "if they aren't up soon, they aint gonna be till tomorrow" mark.

When we will traceroute the servers tomorrow, I better see .au addresses on the way.

I mean I don't mean to be all chicken little, but this is what happened to the AU servers. It was a standard Maitenance... and only the AU servers weren't back up within 8 hours. Then they found out they moved the servers and their ping sky rocketed.

Now this time EU is up and running, US/AU are still down for a long time. If I turn out to be right... ill be pretty mad. I would like to think they were fixing problems....

but since the EU were up in way less time... I seriously am doubting it too. Also add on to it that the mentors/staff aren't posting ANYTHING, when they have been very active recently... That doesn't bode well.

Please I hope I am wrong
