Diamond Sale Notice

It would be nice if you guys gave up to a week of advanced notice that diamond sales are coming. Instead at 10:03pm Saturday night, this was the post: "On Saturday, the 26th of October 2013, between 2:00 pm PDT and 11:59 pm PDT, get 110% more Diamonds!" Are you wondering why sales are down? You gotta give the fish a chance to bite before you yank the line. Come-on people!..

It is what they have always done...surprise diamond sales without prior warning...other than that you can get by watching the European website. They want your sale diamond buying to be an impulse buy; if they had announced diamond sales nobody would buy at the regular price.

Yes they have always done surprise sales, but they used to last for more than a few hours. Besides, if the sale is "today" then say it is "today". By saying the sale will be on "Saturday" when "Saterday" is almost over just looks like a screw-up.

Of course impulse buys are what they want, but the current use of that strategy is not working for RW. Furthermore, its bad marketing to announce the sale after it happened such as is the case on the site announcements now. If you were in a store would you be more or less likely to spend $50 on a shirt once you found out it had been on sale a couple days proir for $20? Actually, marketing 101 would teach them that public knowledge of a missed opportunity can cause potential customers to shop elsewhere. The loyal few would at best hold off and try to wait for the next sale, which is what I have done for the last year or so... only I keep missing them.

My suggestion is announce on Thursday, and have it last till 11:59pst Monday night. Impulse buying is still at play, but it also gives people a chance to gather their resources and make the purchase. After all, not everyone has the weekend to be on RoM.

I hope they realize soon that normal diamonds are simply overpriced. This game is too expensive even at double diamonds...

A lot of people I know won't even buy diamonds unless there is a sale...even if they really, really need them. I'm almost exactly like that. I'm more likely to drop $200 every time there is a 120%+ diamonds sale than even drop any money when there isn't. Ruisen is right, this game is far too expensive even with a sale. It would be nice if there was a payment plan you could get put on that if you commit to a month's worth of payment as if you had paid in a Pay-to-play game ($13.00 a month or something) you get extra bonus diamonds every month you continue on such a plan. I'd totally go for that.

Side note: This was my 200th post. :P

The problem with a "payment plan" in a free to play game is that it would make the free to play game a subscription based game. I agree something has to be done to lessen the cost of the game, but basically making it a sub based game is not the way to do it.

Something I had suggested a while back was something along these lines, but you would choose to buy the plans when you felt like it.

ie, a bonus system of Bronze, Silver, Gold and Platinum

You would buy them for 30 days.

Here are some bonus effects:

1. Bronze - diamond purchases are +10% always. This includes bonus sales, ie.. 100% sale = 110% dias

2. Silver - diamond purchases are +15% always. This includes bonus sales, ie.. 100% sale = 115% dias; ruby bonus @ 5% of the dias purchased. ie, 100 dias = 5 bonus rubies; +5% xp/tp/hp bonuses during the duration of the plan

3. Gold - diamond purchases are +20% always. This includes bonus sales, ie... 100% sale = 120% dias; ruby bonus @ 10% of the dias purchased. ie, 100 dias = 10 bonus rubies; +10% xp/tp/hp bonuses during the duration of the plan

4. Platinum - diamond purchases are +25% always. This includes bonus sales, ie.. 100% = 125% dias; ruby bonus @ 15% of the dias purchased. ie, 100 dias = 15 bonus rubies; +3% to all stats & +10% xp/tp/hp bonuses during the duration of the plan

Decent prices for the packages would be:
1. Bronze = $3 for 30 days
2. Silver = $7 for 30 days
3. Gold = $10 for 30 days
4. Platinum = $15 for 30 days

Nobody NEEDS them, but they'd be worthwhile to the gamer that does want to spend a little more to get a little more out of the game.

This all sounds good, but we all know that if this is implemented then the "standard" will be requiring players to have the plat package for the +3% buff. Packages shouldn't ever contain anything that any other player can't get access to if they don't want to purchase the packages, by giving a attribute buff, it's basically creating one more "must have" to run an instance.

Giving IS shop incentives would be a better way to promote the packages instead of giving things like +10% hp, +3% to all. Give things like bonus dias/rubies, but also a discount on items purchased. Maybe make it so that things like perfect advance jewels are available all the time for certain package levels. Make the +16 gems, ABL's, RAE's and such available for the plat package. This would be a better way to get people to buy into these types of thing, imo. This would be a way of giving both players and GF what they want. Players get "perma" abls and everything, GF get another revenue stream.

Of course the ABL's, RAE's and all that would still go on sale like they do, so everyone would still have access to them even without buying a package, just not all the time like the package buyers would.

i always figured a "loyalty bonus" was the best way to go. Not a you pay for an increase etc.. but a "the more diamonds you have bought with us, the more you get" idea.

So if you spend $15 dollars a month on average, you get more and more as time goes on. For instance:

Once you have spent a certain amount you get bonus diamonds on purchases:

over $100: 5% bonus on all diamonds purchased with that account from then on.
over $250: 7.5% bonus
etc etc.

This makes repeat customers, not the (ill spend a huge amount ONCE) customer which is better for GF.

This gives a bonus to the people putting the diamonds into the game. It also would be a huge factor to people making friends in game: (just an example) BB knows that I buy diamonds a lot, and have spent a good amount on this game. He then knows that when I buy diamonds I get a lot of extra diamonds due to the loyalty program, therefore I am more likely to sell diamonds cheaper.

Then the F2P people will know who to go to for better prices of diamonds and it would nt just be one time and done bonuses, and it will even get people who have spent money in the past a reason to start playing again IE cheaper to catch up. Plus it gives a "long time customer" type of bonus which sadly this game doesn't have much of.

I'm all for doing a loyalty bonus type thing, it just needs to be done right. By done right I don't mean being able to basically buy buffs. It needs to be something that makes your dollar go further in the long term.

This is indeed a good plan and something I was trying to convey in my previous post. I would get on board a loyalty program thing.

I think it would be great, I mean I would be able to easily drive down diamond prices on Artemis myself. Really with how many diamonds I have bought, I would probably get some epic discount, which I would pass on. Cause the other day I almost puked in my mouth a little bit when I saw what diamonds went up to.

I know .... .that is not my usual thing, but I will say it is a little nuts now.

I'd back the loyalty thing too. But on the OP, more notice for sales and a longer period would be nice.
