Let's see now, the OP begins his rant-a-thon with an apocryphal story about items gone missing from a house chest for the third year in a row. Yet nobody, i repeat,
nobody else has reported either items or house chests gone missing. How interesting...
Considering the problems and issues that Osha,
my home server has had over the past couple of weeks, I've had not one, repeat.
one item or chest disappear. Period. (Yeah, I can do a President Obama impression, though mine isn't a lie.)
And I shall remind people that
if an item or items should mysteriously go *poof*, the only way you have a chance of getting those items returned to you is to send a ticket to Support. Include a
complete and accurate description of the missing item(s). That means the precise name(s) of the item(s). It's easier with Item Shop stuff, such as consumables or the specific storage chest/furniture. Gear items are tougher, especially if they've been modded in any way. Same for Mana Stones, as for stat stones you would have to include the tier
and the
name of the stat on the stone.
If you don't have the Inventory Viewer addon installed, I strongly recommend that you get it ASAP. And make sure that once it's in place, you open every piece of storage furniture, housekeeper, bank slot (except for the IS bank page--not currently supported by IV), and backpack slot (including the IS tab). Also scan your character's first two gear tabs (change class if you have to--the third tab isn't currently supported by IV) and if you
do scan it, the client will crash), then exit the character and move along to the next one, repeating the process.
Remember that if you should crash while exiting or changing characters, IV will not save the information. You will have to relog onto the character and do it all over again.
I know this works. When I lost storage chests three years ago, I had a recent scan from IV in place and was able to send tickets to Support with complete descriptions of the chests (Leather Storage Chests, which everyone gets when they register a house) and every missing item in those chests. I got everything back, perhaps one of the handful of people on Osha who did.
And by the way, stop calling "Wolf!" when none are around or in evidence. Only the incredibly gullible will believe you.
