New announcement on the European Forum, discussing the advent calendar is now deemed infringement of forum rules, up to banning accounts for opening related threads. Merry Christmas everybody.

Monday, December 2nd 2013, 6:08pm

They even have more to aim at there Moghwn

The same one "prize" for many times the number of servers.

All because a few last year abused the system. For that everyone now is a criminal.

I know I didn't and feel that aiming the Advent Calendar as though I did makes for a very unhappy customer.

Anyone has a link to announcement? I skimmed the EU forum, didn't see anything, and that description smells like a ... charitably speaking... highly creative interpretation.

Edit: TY, Beren. Couple interesting tidbits there.

This is lame. Why are you giving us such a lame excuse for an advent calender? Can someone please explain? This makes zero sense from a marketing standpoint. Think about it, if you want people to come play your game and give you money, give away better free stuff during the holidays. It costs you nothing, yet could net you new players that may want to stick around and actually play your game, and at least some of them are likely to give you money in the future. Invest in your own future by fixing this crap event. New players who see this is all that you offer are far less likely to stick around if they just don't see a reason to.

Here is the Google translation of ThePit's post on the EU forums. I amde no changes of how it came out. As such it is hard to read in parts

"Advent Calendar and the thought behind it!
my dear community ,

again from scratch :

last year the calendar was exploitet which is not possible by the WBB plugin. Also it is not possible auszuloben multiple winners on this plugin but always about just one.

When
I look at the numbers how many people have opened the door and then
compare how many actually participated amazes me the difference very
much . If I then look at who is really active on the board ever! Are suddenly all came back to see the calendar ? : whistling:

Are there multi Accs which only they thought could multiply participate? I honestly do not . : (

But I know for sure if everyone should get a prize then everyone really right? But where I draw the line then ? Who gets an item not who? Those are the active? The which the last 3 months, were not inactive ?

If
we are honest with each other times ... it does not matter what I or
anyone else does it, there will always be people who give something
wrong with it , there will always be people who find it good and much
more containing easily and secretly pleased that something happens . : love:

What is the consequence for the future of such things ? Will they be getting all one item or only the assets ? no it will just take place more in this type there is no event . Who then are the bereaved ? Have not bitched The you who have been looking forward to , etc. : thumbsup :

Does that make sense ?

Where is the line with you? who will decide who gets what or not?

The calendar I have made it very easy for everyone and especially fair! Yes you think of the spins but it is so if you are honest to you.

why fair? It's simple:

everyone who wants to can participate and has the chance to win . none is preferred no special disadvantage by lot . Who does not want to participate will not be forced easily .

What is so objectionable ? I see nothing reprehensible .

Again
and again to open threads to the atmosphere to keep up or to let the
frustration out because you did not win brings any thing except warnings
and blocking the Boardaccounst ... does that make sense ?

Strange it is that many who complain yet participated in the raffle ! Anger ? Frustration ? Or do you hope to gain ?

AnnyWay if it bothers you so much I can do only one thing and disable the calendar. Fair for the other three countries and the user enjoying it ?

So what do you want ? Items in vain for those active or whom? Who
would decide that and especially those who want it then tell those who
were not there or are active or sick they received no item ?

It is always easy to grumble and complain about decisions that were made. If you also behind then ? I already because as it is I can fully represented and that all users over !

So a few words at the end , you will save the reopening of several threads that go back to the topic. Because then it hails again unfortunately warnings or barriers because one or the other again can not control ! It
will surely be one or the other in-game event coming where everyone who
wants to can participate and even get one or the other .

Just have fun times and rejoice about for something to happen instead of always grumbling only negative! And you throw me in front of my glass was always half empty?"

http://board.eu.runesofmagic.gameforge.c…danke-dahinter/

My personal opinion is yes he should disable it.

Raffles are fun. Raffles are nice. Raffles are not for a 7-day mount nor for 1 Big Angel's Sigh.

IF only 1 person can get the prize, make the prizes something worthwhile; that's really all anyone is asking of the management.

Epic Fail

Really, a shot at a nearly worthless prize that only one player a day can win. Talk about not worth doing.

I swear that Gameforge is trying to drive players away from the game.

Hey guys, I have news for you. You own the game. If you don't want to do it anymore you just say that this is it and walk away. Don't jerk us around.

Being afraid of people exploiting it is a lame excuse, because you can simply drop the item in each player's backpacks when they log in. They can make all the accounts they want, and the items will be bound to their lv 1 alts.

They've done this plenty of times in the past - even Karlsruhe has done it, so we know they are capable of it.

yeah, I really missed the Froggie event where we got a suprise orb every day per toon.

Everyone was excited back then... it's like the attitude of GF right now is that it's a privilege to play. period.

Agreed. Perm mount, costume pieces, wings, perm bag 3...something permanent that will stick with the toon it is given to. Not a 7 day mount or a single big angel sigh. This is christmas, a worldwide event, not martin luther king day. Sure, hey, people are participating, even I did...not because I think it is something amazing, but because well hey, I'm already here so why the heck NOT click the button? Do I still think it is a lame item to give out? Yes.

What's the time zone being used for the calendar drawings?

Even though the prizes are meager it doesn't hurt to go for them.

GF's attitude to us right now reminds me of two great quotes from "Animal House"

First
"Assume the position!"

Followed of course by

"Thank you sir. May I have another"

I believe that is because they are on German time. Not sure what time zone that is, but I think it happens at midnight in Berlin.

Well if this is where the sales department and innovation department came up with, it is pretty sad. As others have said, you log in, you get a free gasha in your bag, not that hard.

You can't exploit it, you can't sell it, you gotta use it. Come on guys really 1 freaking item overall US server per day?? pouhahahahaha :dash:

But if your intent is to kill off the game faster so you don't have to put up the next patch with the level cap, well, you are doing a great job!!!! keep up the good work and may your next job be a jolly one.

BTW how much money did you make with the 120% diamonds sale and the crappy weekend sale?? how would like to know compared to previous sales before that one. :grumble:

Ah well let's keep rolling Gameforge snowball and see how small it can get

Yeah gotta say... a chance to fight over thousands of other people... for just ONE lame item every day. I mean it is pretty bad. Wasn't last years better? I mean cmon at least pick 10 winners a day... not like you are giving away tons of dias worth of IS stuff..

Pretty bad if you ask me.

I'm sorry, but reading ThePit's post and listening/reading to what he's said over the past few months...I've known and communicated with tons of Germans and such over the years and I've never met or spoken with anyone quite so arrogant or bad attitude ridden than him or most of the Gameforge team, whether it was under Berlin or the new place. Ridiculous.

Delete my post, prove my point.

And, to make this post somewhat on topic, this isn't an advent calendar, it's a lottery. Refer to it by it's proper name, "Snowflake Festival Lottery". When I open my advent calendar I get a chocolate every day. I don't have a 1 in 350 chance of getting a chocolate every day. Definitely not even worth the clicks to "participate".
