Not just scout. Looks like rogues got affected too, mostly in the controversial (and arguably considerably OP) throw/combo-throw. I bet it is nerf for rogues, boost for scouts.

I guess obvious question to our CM/FM/GMs - got any beans to spill?

Well it is about time that rogue would get some kind of nerf, since it is the only class that was always left untouched. Now to see how they make us believe they fixed it, only to have another skill negate the nerf loll. Rogues of Magic here we go!!!!

you know it's gonna be something like... Shot range reduced to 80, throw range increased to 250. autoshot is now on a 30 second timer. shot has a 10 sec cd. throw cd is reduced to 1 second and shares that cd w/ blind stab.

Just to make sure ppl are prepared for the worst tomorrow...

I am prepared for the worst... however I am EXTREMELY hopeful. My gf is dang near gitty.

Yes I know that most rogues probably went r/s/m so they can just jump to s/m or s/r if it is a significant buff. The nerf to throw I think is more than viable and if it takes r/m down a notch... lets be honest, we all knew it was coming.

I like the fact that the skills listed are NOT ones that r/s will benefit from or any other /s combo. I think that is the smartest. Also to pick two skills that everyone uses actively was also a good decision. I am very hopeful, looks like maybe a very well thought out and calculated change. I am actually pretty excited and very interested in s/m changes since we both have one. Would be neat if it was now based on pa.ttk.

Saito Claus has been making a list and checking it twice. Misrepresenting your goodness level is just making you go on naughty side all that much more.

Rogues are not going to be unplayable with a nerf to throw/combo throw, which I expect this patch will bring. That was always useful, but never as OP as it is now. If T/CT are not useful anymore, class will just go back to the original purpose - a close range DPS with limited AOE and limited long-range damage. Nobody will be switching to Scout/Rogue unless Scout change is bigger than it seems based on smallish number of skills being changed.

Well, this gets me excited. Hopeful but cautious. Here's my best guess at the scout changes (as a s/k).

Mana Drain Shot-- obviously reducing the cooldown time from 1 min 30 sec to something better

Autoshot-- could be anything

Wind Arrows-- they forgot to nerf the range, it's still at 225, so it's going down to 180 like the rest

Disarmament Arrow-- hmm they've already made so many changes to this skill; however it's still at 200 range so I'll say it's going down to 180 too :P

Healing Shot-- now this I'm excited for, if they fix at least one of its bugs I'll be thrilled


Ok really, I'm more hopeful then that, but trying to be realistic! :D

I made a scout/knight mid Chapter 1 and played it until they broke them. I would love to give them some money and gear up my scout again for siege if nothing else. Scout is a fun class to play, just sucks it hasn't been viable dps for a long time. Crossing my fingers for this one, its why I never dropped scout off of Mongol.

And yeah lets be honest, as soon as all the rogues started rolling R/M it was destined for a nerf. P/S syndrome. Rogues could use some nerfs, and I say that as a fellow rogue lol.

If R/M gets nerfed there's gonna be a lot of QQ goin on just like with the P/S. Lookin forward to it. :D

Edit: As far as what I expect in the patch. Probably a small nerf to T/CT and for scout probably just range adjustments and possibly small increases in %dmg of the skills listed. If so it probably won't make much of a difference.

Yeah Rusty, I am not saying enough of a nerf to break the class. Just not as OP as it was. When the damage values for the r/m came out vs bosses and they were seen as the highest of all classes I think we knew there was a rebalance coming. I am figuring kinda like the w/m rebalance, which took lightning burn down from 100% of both skills to 75%, Effectively taking dmg from 200% to 150%, so like a 25% reduction in those skills DPS. I figure something like that for the R/M through the t/ct changes. Which is why I say it should be expected since it happened to W/m already. Will they still be near the top of the DPS list, yes.

The part about rogues going to scout, is IF, big IF, they put Scouts as the new FoTM. This wouldn't be that hard even with only a few skills being altered. Look at how many times 1-2 skills made the difference with other classes being OP or not. I mean they would just have to jack up the Dmg of wind arrows too much, add a dex modifier to it and reduce focus costs. Or with autoshot make it do a lot more dmg. After all buffing autoshot dmg is the equivalent of upping a w/m lightning burn... a constant dmging skill. An over adjustment in such a skill would take it from where it is to the top of the DPS chart. So lets not say it is not possible, just because only a few skills are being changed. Unlikely, but possible.

I, however, think them becoming the next flavor of the month is unlikely, however if they are, rogues will not have a hard time switching to them (which was the point I was making). I think if they do it right, this could put scouts as desired party members, more so then they are today for their buffs and not their dmg (for the most part, yes I know there are exceptions to every rule). Which is why I am therefore hopeful :)

Even if those skills get a significant buff it will help, but scouts will still be a null.

If they put WA on par with shot, then shot will just become a less relevant filler compared to WA, and then a lot of scouts will have problems with focus management.

If they (by some miracle) take the advice that's been put out for a new autoshot buff it would help quite dramatically, but I don't see this coming. Probably another range nerf, or perhaps they found the bug with it and are going to fix it to further drop scouts DPS potential.

And all we need is another skill that doesn't cap at 50 that scout's would need to max to gain >2-6% overall DPS. I mean, even if they reset the CD of the skill back to 10s, it would be very minimal.

Slow crawls are ok, I understand when they don't want to take the time to test things themself, the best way to go is the slow way. Don't over do it. But the research has been done, and the fixes are there.

I mean, cool, woo hoo they 'might' have stopped nerfing scouts. But I wouldn't consider it something to get excited about. These are minimal changes.

Found it, ty. Saw this thread before I saw the announcements lol.

Why are there no details though? I think this is the first class balance change written on the patchnotes with no info on what the change is.

well, like noony said, I hope they took some of the suggestions from the scout forums...

WA - unless this is a major buff, no big deal, won't be changing the status of scouts...more likely than not, probably a fix for the apparent GCD "issues" it has...also like noony said, if it is buffed, focus will become an issue, and I will have to take my own advise and lrn2play...

mana drain shot - a lower CD would be nice, but then again, just another tp sink if it becomes viable...would be fun to have it actually "drain mana"...

auto shot - this is the wildcard. with 20-30% of scout damage coming from this skill alone, we can't afford for them to screw it up. a decent buff will make the class, while a change for the worse or not a significant change will render scouts useless(er), or nothing will change...all I know is, I hope it doesn't need tp now...

elites: can't say ATM...but I hope s/k healing arrows are corrected...and DoW doesn't overwrite other buffs...

nothing about s/d, which, depending on the changes, may or may not be a good thing...

conclusion: curious, but not hopeful. I will take screenies of all my skills and tp for obvious reasons tonight...

in regards to rogue adjustments:

throw/throw - I hope only the range is tweaked. it's a great filler skill for off combos, but as it stands, kinda OP and if it's nerfed, not completely unwarrented...

blind stab - I hope this becomes useful, maybe a decent damage component....
