lets not forget they could take rune drillers prices down 60% and still make more than most games.
Now I don't mind paying. We got lots of accounts and lots of characters. Back when I played.... Another game.... I paid for 6 accounts at 13 bucks a month to play the game the way I wanted. Well now I get the accounts for free, so I set that as my limit... or close to it... on what I will spend each month. I also have my gf playing with me, so I figure a little more there too (she didn't play the last game). However, I am different than most players... therefore my play style makes me ok with that cost. Most wont see it that way. I also don't buy new games for $60 a pop when they come out and usually wait for Humble Bundles, etc so my gaming budget stays pretty low even with how much I spend on this game.
However, it is true that the probably would still make a killing with the changes Cike Suggests, especially if more people come back because the price has dropped.
Here is my hope/idea. Maybe we will see such a change after the New Year (I hope you are reading this GF cause I think it is a fair business analysis). They want to keep profits/dividends/margins high for the end of the year. After all most businesses do better this time of year so it is expected to do more business and more profits. Usually First quarters (at least in my experience) are pretty low, so this is the perfect time to alter any money scheme, cause it can be attributed to the time of year. It also would set the financial tone for the rest of the year, and a new pricing system would not be held as a negative cause the fiscal year started with it. This is all assuming that you reduce prices and people don't start spending more. So you can take the gamble in first quarter with less risk of it looking back to board of directors/stockholders/etc. If they are going to try to alter the IS (like they have said) this would be the time.
