Well i think it will get rid of the gold spammers and if gold spammers get their hands on diamonds in game, i bet the person who sold them will get banned. The only reason why i loved diamonds in AH was to be able to send diamonds to alts so they could buy house energy for their furnitures and chests and crafting apparels.

I always bought my own diamonds anyways. Those that will have a hard time with this move mainly, people who are free to play will be the most mad. But more people will have to buy their own diamonds now, F2P never made the game cheaper, the AH diamonds let them play buy low sell high, not anymore, so hopefully diamonds will go down to reasonable prices.

I will cherish my precious, mine, mine, all mine!!!!

P.S. Could we have a way to get house energy through the item shop please tyvm.

yeap, cause they have stated they will NOT put back in the ability to buy diamonds through an NPC.... since it was so badly abused the last time.

I love how the "I don't spend RL money" group of this game like to say that the game "Needs" a way to get diamond easier without spending money. Course that is driven mainly by personal want. Ill take one from BB on this when it came to the Siege time slot vote. Just because it is better for you personally doesn't mean it is better for the community or the game. It should be possible to be F2P and get somewhere... However, the game has to make money to survive. So everytime someone thinks "the game needs to be easier to F2P", remember it is like BB said... it is not about your personal preference but what is better overall.

And we can all say that the main thing to determine the health of the game/community is if there is a game and a community.

Now, I saw on Artemis, discussion about how if gold is still allowed it could lower diamond to gold prices... which I agree is high and the resellers are a problem. However as the game continues and more gold is made in the game... prices for diamonds to gold will ALWAYS increase. SO don't expect to see 40k per diamond again... it just wont happen.

Oh joy - 'guess that means I won't be buying any again.

My personal solution to the ridiculous changes to logging into the webbie was to create a new account that met the new criteria and sell my main account the dias via AH - if I can't do that then I guess I won't be buying them.

I'm really starting to hate this place.

Removing diamonds from Ah won't stop people from selling diamonds - I think we can all agree on that. Its how convenient it is to sell diamonds, and diamonds not in the AH means we're back to the old cumbersome method where people trade diamonds with the risk of getting scammed.

I'll be curious to see the exchange rate that the NPC gives on Govinda. Because more than likely (given past currency ratio NPC's) they'll offer a much lower gold to diamond ratio than we diamond sellers on Govinda are currently getting from players buying them off of us. So..the question will be: What incentive do I have to even using this NPC, if I can get more from players? Again, at the present time, that question must remain hypothetical, as the rates will vary and they aren't live. This change really only hinders the f2p in game diamond buying players. All it really does is take away the "security" they feel in purchasing them from the AH, because they know that they will FOR SURE get the diamonds from the seller.

This is (again hypothetically) only going to cause an increase in gold on the servers, which I feel (even as an avid diamond seller) is really moving in the opposite direction. And I'll end my opinion there before going slightly off topic with a discussion about the very delicate in game economical balance between diamond sellers and gear sellers.

Here's to seeing what happens

I am convinced, the people that work for Gameforge are former employees of the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe. If this is indeed what it seems; the option to only sell diamonds and not buy, I'll start selling/buying things through barter. Instead of asking for things we need, we should start asking for things we don't need. It appears that something is very off whenever they decide to translate our posts to German. So yes, Gameforge, please...flood the server with gazillions of more gold..we love it. We love it so much, we can't get enough of it. More gold please. 8o

A lot of you complained so much but I think Runewaker/Gameforge is in fact helping us. Majority of the player complained so much about the prices in diamonds and how it affected every single player in Runes of Magic. In the Real World, when the market crashes, they have what you call, "circuit Breaker". What circuit breaker does is suppose to calm the market down. Runewaker/Gamerforge is actually doing the same thing. Instead of halting the market, it is actually halting gold to diamond trading. Thus preventing the gold spammer from getting costumers from buying gold via Real Cash. As you also noticed, there is a timeline given to FELIX. All I can say is, have good faith and just go with the flow and see it for yourself. Assuming kills people. NEVER EVER assume.

Wait! What???

P2P players did not mind high dia prices. Now they will get fixed (probably lower) rate for their dias and the exchange will be available only for a week (will we get "Felix promos"? Something like "once a month you can exchange dias for gold for a few days"...) . They will probably buy less dias for real money if they cannot easily liquidate them into gold, or they can only sell for a worse price.

F2P players complained the prices for buying dias were high. How on earth removing any possibility of buying dias can be qualified as listening to these complains?

Less dias on the market means higher prices. Inconvenience of the gift system means people who will be willing to even consider selling their dias this way will do this only if they get a good price (another reason prices may raise). Plus switching to the gift system means opening a free season for any kind of scams (and costly mistakes). :cursing:

HI all,

We wanted to wait until this change was announced world wide, thus the reason for removing this thread temporarily.

Now that is live, please carry on the discussion.

31

Tuesday, January 28th 2014, 2:30pm

Was there really ANY necessity to remove a thread because "it wasn't live yet"? Was there even a remote chance this wasn't going to go live?
It is a discussion and obviously our opinions aren't ready for gameforge. This level of micromanagement of a forum is absurd, manage the game instead.
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.

:)

Yeah, I admit that was a wrong move.
Announcement posted on AU website 10 hours ago was eventually changed a bit. It wasn't supposed to go out before maintenance is finished so we removed it.
Since we were not sure until 2 hours ago if there will be changes it was necessary to disable the thread until I have official info about this case.
This IS a very big change ingame and posting wrong information could only lead to chaos.

Long story short >> feel free to blame me this time for mess.

back to topic:

I will miss the ability to send dias to alts via AH... oh well. :)

other than that, I don't understand why people are upset about a management decision? Obviously, a lot of people were concerned about the "abuse" in the AH. GF is doing what GF mgmt decided was the best move they had to try to fix the problem.

Beren, Mika> do you guys have any idea how the new diamond trade system is going to, roughly, function?

34

Tuesday, January 28th 2014, 2:51pm

Reni: 10 dias 235k.

Since the trade is going back to the way it was before AH were re-enabled in AH, I imagine the private trade rate will hover at least where it was before, at 150k, not at 23.5k

Pinkhat: I'm at work so I apologize for asking instead of going to see myself: Is it a 10 per day limit like we used to have with that one NPC?

23.5k per is not what I was hoping to see. I sell diamonds to a few select people for anywhere between 50k and 100k per depending on who they are and if they're a current or former guildie. That's a huge cut in profits. Diamond sellers have either the option of taking a huge cut in profits for guaranteed gold or take a risk at getting scammed by random players. I'm sure the diamond selling market will be even more exclusive with this change as well as the ill side effect of introducing even MORE gold on the servers. That's not what we need. Gear prices will go through the roof due to the FtP players not getting diamonds as easily as before and the private selling market will probably increase in price.

There were much better ways GF could have handled this. Major disappointment here.

trial and error is the best method of trying to fix the economy. At least they are TRYING to do something. the more the price of one item goes up the more the price of others go up and it really sucks for people who are just getting into this game. We want to keep new people in the game not drive them away with retarded prices all around.

yes 23.5k per diamond? Thats hilarious. Common sense dictates that this is a FAIL.

And while it is fun to complain and make fun of what GF decided to do.

Let's be honest at least they did attempt to do something, even if it was poorly thought out.

so kudos to GF for trying at least.

Now for next patch how bout you get rid of that and implement a 5 trade a day 3m per 10 diamonds.

There's a gold sink that would actually get rid of the excess gold on server.

Give it a trial basis for 2 weeks and see what happens

it is 235k not 23.5k. Big difference. It is limited to 80 diamonds a day... not sure why.

The "just what we need, more gold" comments, I am just going to say two things. How much gold is on the server is a problem but you know this change isn't nearly as harmful as the bots that constantly run stuff like KS and make gold. Secondly, I think this change is for the better (except the limit). I have said for a while, you wanna F2P... it shouldn't be easy to be at the top. The game is F2P, but they gotta make money, and the way to make money is for the paying players to have the advantage.... cause then people wanna spend money. That is the F2P model to still make money. I don't get how people are still baffled by this concept. I know though, the F2P community had a field day when hacked diamonds were flooding the market and prices were ALWAYS cheap, they loved it. They controlled the market. However, the company realized that if too many people don't spend money the company wont keep the game running. It is simple.... Problem is too many went F2P. People who say they wont spend money "til things are fixed" are not helping. Cause if the game doesn't see it as profitable, they shut it down. If they don't have money to make the changes... they wont.

I for one, am excited to see how this works out. I know F2P, powerhouse players, are upset and are going to say how bad it is gonna be.... However, they were the ones that said Diamonds in the AH would reduce prices (how did that work out for ya?). Everyone says what THEY personally want. Unfortunately the F2P powerhouse players have way more voices on the forums than the "I support this game" players. Personally I think paying players should have it easier, but I have said that forever.
