lol Agreed with Lemon. A lot of benefits like carrying lowbies through runs, free gear, etc. are only available to guildies, and you miss a lot of that by not being in a large guild.

Dk, there are actually P2P/P2W who do the same thing. Its untrue to say that they never will because "they pay and don't need to", because doing it allows them to spend less and still be a the top. I know of paying players who exploited WB's for proofs, and while I don't know whether the dupers were F2P or not - a lot of top end gear was given out to regular players, regardless of whether they were F2P or P2P.

I remember what you said about endgame gear costing $50 a piece. I think the regular F2P rejected a diamond price increase but banded with P2P in threads asking for endgame gear price decrease. With the release of Beth-H, that has happened. Although how things will continue when beth-H gear becomes obsolete, I don't know.

Maybe we should let some sanity prevail, yes? This back and forth about who is better f2p p2p and p2w is useless and not serving anyone's best interest. Im surprised at some of the comments here that are pretty much pointing at p2w and the "problem" in the game and that those 1% that are most likely are the ones keeping this good but could be a lot better game going. I know most of those on my server that are fully p2w and don't mind throwing hundreds if not thousands of dollars of their disposable income yearly on this game simply because they enjoy having fun. I'am personally one of those people on my server and I'am offended by some of these comments that some people on my server are making about those like me. If you are so disgruntled about the way i spend my money then here's a thought..go out and make your own! No one here is stopping you from progressing or getting better faster and those who are prejudice against others because of the size of their wallet need to grow up. And Cike im disappointed in a lot of your commentary lately that seems like its geared towards me and others like myself =. I have personally given away dozens of free weapons/gear od at that or purchased from others to benefit them without anything in return. Hell I even gave out thousands of dias for people just guessing my damn name. Would you like to personally finance your ROM activities as well? Seems that way

it cannot function i doubt zid is saying that F2p people arnt needed or
useless but that the endgame people that are free to play need to be
nicer while yes in a way the game could not exist without p2p funding

person is the same there are nice people and then there are not so nice
people some pay to play are nice and some are not so nice just as there
are nice and mean free to play people and all the servers are different
and the people that play are different from what ive seen on artimus its
kinda a harsh server to just hope into and not many nice people.

He started with the rudeness, slurs etc. We grown ups here are having a discussion, except for him trying to stir things up, all of us are having a good discussion and no one was being rude before he showed up.

Look at Cike, Lonnon, Ruisen, me, we weren't enticing each other, we were having a very interesting conversation with plusses and minuses. It shows when you have mature people talking and then children come along. But it's ok we will discuss between ourselves, tyvm Lamillie for keeping this in check.

Reni ah looks like 100m (far less usually) can get you anything you want aside from a couple of OD beth-h chest pieces.

Sure prices are high when the gear first shows up on the ah, but they decrease over time (as they always do). You yourself say that top end gear isn't necessary so why do you even complain about it?

I have been reading these forums for years now, and this is the first time I have ever seriously agonized over reading a post made by another forum poster (and a greenie at that). I cannot fathom what the aversion to punctuation is, but it seems like it is becoming much more prevalent. I even tried reading the whole out loud hoping to be able to do it in a single breath. No such luck.

Ok, time to weigh in here... (WARNING: Incoming walls of text! (and a bit of rambling as well! - fun times for everyone!))

To all who are concerend/held within/reading this,

This game and I have a torrid past, and only a few of you have been here long enough to really recall that. Some of you know just how in depth with this game I was at one point, and how far away from this game I was for awhile. Rustyx is one of those few, and he and I get along really well and have a mutual respect for one another on a fundamental level, even when we do not agree. Notwithstanding the one time I snapped at him (yes, I still remember that rusty, and am still deeply sorry for it - you were the much bigger man in that instance). Kalvan and Beren also know me pretty well from the years they have seen me posting, and had to tell me to tone it down (even when down deep they may have agreed with me but had to do their jobs XD ) and I don't take it personally. So in this matter, I will also not let anything become personal. Here are my thoughts on this subject...

Free to play - I started this game as a f2p player, and was so for a long time. I was able to make it to endgame in chapter 2 while being f2p because I had stuff other people wanted and were willing to pay for (will not go into details about what exactly). While I spent a few years as a f2p player I learned as much as I could about my class combo (W/R at that time) and became one of the best to play it back then, which kept carrying me to the top. I also gave away a lot of stuff (stats/gear/strats/information/knowledge), not because I had to, but just because that is the kind of person I am. I am still giving away information/knowledge/strats to this day, and now I give away diamonds too, because I can (so long as I don't feel like someone is trying to take advantage of my kindness). I also felt like I needed to give something back for being able to be endgame as a f2p player, which is what led me to start working in the addon community here. There is nothing wrong with being f2p in this game. This game needs a certain amount of f2p players or it will not survive, period. F2p players buy diamonds from p2p players, who then in turn end up buying more diamonds, and the cycle continues. If p2p players didn't have f2p players to sell to, they wouldn't buy as many diamonds and the game wouldn't have as large of an income as it has now. (I am speaking in general terms here btw. Zid, you yourself don't need to sell diamonds to get gold but overall that is something many diamond buyers do to make money in RoM and I know you understand this.)

Pay to play - As of currently, I am a p2p player. I have bought diamonds on each of the last 4 diamond sales. $100, $100, $50, and $100 respectively. That is $350 I have put into this game in the last few months, and I feel it is warranted, as the current GM team is making me feel like my money is being well spent. So I have no qualms about spending my hard earned money on helping to improve this game that much more. The GM team is mostly volunteer services, but there are people who are working on this game at some level who are collecting a paycheck from GF, and my money is going to feed and cloth them, going to pay their car payments, etc. All of which ends up making them want to work harder to make this game better because the better it becomes, the more money they are going to end up making, and the cycle continues...around and around we go. This game can not continue without p2p players, period. Without p2p players, the game would cease to be.

It all comes down to attitudes - I offer my time here on these forums the same as the GM team does - for free, however I feel I get more in return than they do, let me explain. I come here and answer questions when I can/have the free time to do so, I have written guides that have taken many hours and even some real life money to be able to test theories on just to write them up, I weigh in on topics (like this one), all the while under my own personal account. The GM team does so from a GM or Moderator account. The difference is I can put who I really am out there for everyone to get to know. You all can see clearly what I really look like in real life, you can get to know me in game because I put up my toon name, my server, and my guild all in my signature here on the forums. You can talk to me in teamspeak or ventirillo (as of recently I have made a couple stops into HeavensFury's vent to chat with them - very cool people btw and thanks again guys for having me). The bonus to me for all of this time spent here is that I have earned many people's respect over the years. As zid has pointed out to me in the past, when I decide to weigh in on a topic, people don't normally argue with me any more. People know that I know what I am talking about when it comes to this game, or things in general. Once that was pointed out to me, and I thought back on something Rustyx said to me once in a PM (yes I still have it btw rusty lol, call me a sentimental fool I suppose) it became clear that I have had a mantle thrust upon me to carry here that I once put upon others - I am sort of one of the old guardians of the knowledge of this game. Information that has been lost to time (and forum wipes...) is still rolling around in my head, and I have a feeling of duty to share it with others, free of charge or any sense of entitlement. Others may not feel the way I do, but I feel like it is my responsibility to maintain that high esteem that has been put upon me and to not tarnish it with sillynesss. I have a feeling Rustyx feels this way too, as he has become one of the guardians of knowledge as well. He knows a LOT about this game and helps a lot of people as well.

The real problem we are all seeing with all of this, is expecting to be able to get one over on one another. We are a community, and should act as such. Quit trying to price gouge each other, whether you have diamonds or gear or stats to sell, we should all act more like human beings and less like savage animals with one another. This is why I started the thread with the real life pictures, to help tear down the walls between us all, and make this more of a real community again.

(Edit: With diamonds no longer in the AH, I am able to not supply the arrogant people with diamonds. I am able to help further correct bad actions by limiting who I actually sell to. I was recently told my "dirty diamonds were no longer needed" by a certain elitist guild who I had been selling diamonds to ... and here soon, they will be finding out just what a server full of people not wanting to sell to them feels like.)
