Cikelet's put that in a bit of perspective...
I can buy a game for $60, get access to all mods/content, and never have to pay another penny, or I can buy $100 of dias and improve my gear a bit for the time being...
IMO, this "let's make things expensive as fk, and if u don't wanna pay, don't buy" mentality is one of the reasons RoM is failing...I know that's why I went f2p, as well as quite a few other people I know...we didn't wanna pay the price, so we stopped buying...
this isn't a complaint, just an observation...
Here is where your analogy breaks down, most games I buy for $60 are brand new, have great graphics, great experiences and up to date gameplay. If I spent $60 on games the same age as rom in steams bargain bin I'd be stunned if someone told me rom was the better value in terms of gameplay hours or any other criteria compared to the 20+ games I could get for that.

Here is where your analogy breaks down. Most games you buy for 60 dollars.. have limited content. Once you are done with the storyline (in most) that is it you are done. If you are like me, most games (like the Metro games, which I love) take only a few days and poof done. I wait for steam sales on them cause 10 bucks is worth a play through nothing more. Call of Duty type games... yes you can play them online which is repetitious and boring after a while.
So the 60 bucks you refer to might get you what? 1 week to 1 month of play. Then you have to move on to the next one. So by that thinking... you should be ok with spending 50 bucks a month on this game since you can play it constantly for the whole month.
Now if you are talking about other MMOs... most require a monthly pay... so ok you should be ok with paying the monthly sub to this game. If they are a "you buy and you are good for all of it and no montly sub"... well I don't know of many of those.
Sorry but your analogy is completely false since most games for 60 bucks are a limited amount of content and not an ever expanding world. Most games that are an ever expanding world... are MMOs, and make their money some other way. End of the day... you pay to play every game.
Now pay if you want or not. However, I believe if you aren't paying... you should be happy for what ya get. After all you aren't helping support the game to make it better. You are just waiting, which is fine.
