Game losing its F2P players

I've been playing this game for over 5 years now & had no issues in the past upgrading or opening backpack & bank slots. But now the game is more difficult to upgrade gear & opening slots with ( you gotta know the right people ) way to dias. The only way is to know the right people to help out selling you cheap dias or buy from players who choose how much they want to charge you. In the past when dias in the AH where 30k a dia it was easier to upgrade, I would spend 2 hours just killing mobs then buy 100 dias or 200 dias everyday, but now you have to grind for 1 week or more to get 100 dias, by that time your out of slots or golden hammers, whatever the case is.

I would say bring back the dias in the AH but have it set where the dia sellers can't go over 50k a dia, in that way it will help out your player base & make the F2P players want to play, cause right now I have so many stats stocked up & pieces to put on but it will take more years to upgrade or quit the game & I'm not the only 1 feeling this way. I logged on today & did my daily's & said to myself " why do I still play this game to just do daily's & sw ". Help out or listen to your F2P player base cause they do a lot of grinding for no rewards right now, just gold, tokens, & cards, that's it. I enjoy this game, but your taking the fun in improving away for us F2P players.

in b4 p2p player says "u want dias? buy them! or gtfo! lolololo!!!!!"

even putting dias on AH with a #dais that can be bought a day from AH would be better(like Cedric, but player driven prices)...or at least put the sales back in the token shop as well like they used to be...

"would say bring back the dias in the AH but have it set where the dia sellers can't go over 50k a dia"

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL

Ok sure don't allow any piece of gear to be sold for more than 25 million either, no stats sold for more than 15 million.. Sure I am ok with these changes ONLY if they are BOTH done.

Or are you just someone that goes "Please let me buy diamonds at 50K each... while allowing me to sell gear for 100 million a piece"

This is where you fail ... horribly... horribly fail.

P2P players are leaving... sorry you aren't the only one. If all you do is run dailies. No wonder you cant F2P diamonds!!!!! Jeepers at least other F2P chars that I have had words with at least are somewhat understanding prices will go up... I agree they shouldn't be 250k a piece, but I haven't seen a single world chat offering to sell for that. Highest I have seen the last week is 200k on Artemis which is a pretty diamond expensive server. Problem? not enough are buying diamonds, even less are selling them for gold.... Here is your problem. That drives prices up. People that have "their person" will get lower prices. Maybe if you aren't grinding the right things for gold it is your fault you cant afford diamonds. I make about.... 100-150 mil a month, NOT in a large guild. Heck.. I am in a guild of two .. my gf and I.

If I just run dailies on some of our chars, with the new zone 25k a daily.. 12 characters, 10 dailies a day. Takes me less than an hour. 30 Days in a month, I make 75 million or, at 200k a diamond-- 375 diamonds. that is JUST doing my dailies. While doing these dailies I usually get 2-3 good bag stats a day (ty lucky target pots), that I sell for 2-4 mil each, lets say 3 mil, that is an extra... lets say 6 mil a day. or 180 million more, or at 200k a diamond, 900 diamonds. So just doing that I make.. 1275 diamonds worth of gold (at 200k a piece) a month...

I don't NEED to spend money on the game and spent 30-50 bucks a month till I stopped because of the new instance requirement for questing. No reason you shouldn't be able to F2P the way it is.

Sorry but if you wanna be F2P, and want to be in a non-power guild, but still wanna have powerful characters.. then you just gotta get smarter. Good computers = more dailies at a time, or more time. Cant expect to just log in do dailies and get all the benefits. Lets not even talk about farming EoJs for stats to sell for gold (which you get the puris for tokens), let alone games for shells to get stats that you can sell for good money. Heck if I ran all the games every day, you can get 200 shells per char, that would be 2400 a day, 72000 shells a month, or 240 stat pulls a month. IF you don't wanna spend money... expect to spend time... sorry. That is how F2P is.

and with all these suggestions I STILL haven't told anyone my #1 income of gold a month. I might tell Cike cause he is F2P on another server and I like him ;)

When diamonds were put in the auction house, their price went up. As soon as they were removed, their prices came down on Govinda, so that argument does not apply to every server. And diamonds in the AH was something recent. This game had no dias in the Ah for YEARS. Its just stupid when someone cries "Oh, its the end of the world, diamonds not on the AH anymore!!". Yes, its less convenient. No, not the end of the world, its always been that way.

Capping diamonds to 50k per is... stupid. Period.

when people cite how f2p is viable, they always include examples of how established players can be f2p easily. this does nothing for the larger issue with the game, which shrinking population without new blood to match. please prove me wrong. please, start right now, fresh, on new server, and show me how being even adequate for normal mode instances is possible. i would love to see that. it would really improve my outlook on the state of the game. f2p hasn't been viable for new players since ch5...

all i can say is: f2p, stop trying to essentially circumvent the entire dia system(aka real moneys) to get everything you want with minimal to no effort, and p2p, get ur head out of ur @** and realize that monetary support is not the only way somebody can be a productive member of the RoM community.

Cike, I didn't say anything about that.... so I don't know if that is directed at me or not.

As for "established players" and not. That is bunk. you can make an army of low levels. Level 8s is where I started not that long ago, in dwarven land, Yrvandis? You do 6 at a time. YOu can do that with minimal work as a new player. 6 chars a day... every 4 days you have 6 puris. Buy Recall belts from the AH with the gold you got from your dailies, Make them into blank T5s.. sell them. BOOM, what are they 5 mil per? 30 mil every 4 days. 210 mil a month from ONE group of 6 noob dwarves... Now when you put the time in for multiple sets. THINK ABOUT IT! That can be done by a NEW player, not "established"... so that is a load of bunk that there is a difference. You just gotta think outside the box.... and be creative.

I told a few new players this and they strived to be like BB, on Artemis. They didn't last cause they didn't wanna run the dailies cause it was "boring". SO they didn't wanna pay... they didn't wanna do the work.....

It is possible... it is doable. Heck all the F2P players who are established need to quit whining about the costs of diamonds entirely. Cause if you are more established you should be able to make more gold than the 210 I just showed. Not to mention ways to not have to spend money as much... so it goes to show if a NOOB can do it... a well "established" player should be able to too.

Now I am not saying F2P are a problem and need to go away... they need to quit whining that they aren't smart enough to get around HAVING to spend money. They should easily be able make enough gold to F2P.

And I am STILL not giving away my number 1 gold maker.

But I agree the game needs to be more popular to new players. However, Cheap AH, or NPC diamonds is NOT the only way to do it. There is almost no system with an NPC that is going to be good enough for new players and NOT exploitable by seasoned players. Just wont be...... cant be I would say. I don't know anymore what the solution is, and with all the players that have their own opinion... never will we all agree. Any change GF/RW makes at this point will cause more players to leave. Which maybe is what RW wants. I don't think GF wants it or they wouldn't have done the work that they have.

The game is too much gear based. That is the overall problem. It worked for a few years and was very profitable....... I see it dying now.

Free to play players put a lot of hours into this game grinding your materials, making potions, food, finding cards etc. They fill the Auction house with crap so people who do not have a lot of time to play, who prefer to pay in hard currency to keep up can have fun too. We all have a role to play in this economy. Unfortunately when people come on here all snotty telling us that they should fork out the cash or gtfo, it is a wonder why they don't just raise the prices. F2P players aren't crying or looking for handouts, they are attempting to keep up with the constant upgrades this game requires. I am not a F2P player, I don't spend a lot of cash either. Since I am no longer able to purchase dia's at all in the ah, it kind of kills my momentum to farm for gold. I used to farm KS for hours and buy dias in small quantity's to supplement the small things I needed like puri's. Now I don't bother, what do I need gold for? No Diamonds to buy, gear is too expensive and the Item shop sucks (nothing in it is worth actual cash). I know you guys want to jump up and criticize people for not putting diamonds into the game, they were the ones who helped fill up your coffers with easy gold when you were selling them. Now you want them to gtfo, one day the easy gold you have will be gone, and you'll have to work for your gold again. Have fun!

That is exactly what the OP is doing...

Game did not have selling diamonds in the AH for the first few years. OP claims that in 5 years, he has not had much problems. So obviously, it has nothing to do with diamonds in the AH, since he'd had had to cope with no dias in AH for several years.

Also, the game WANTS you to spend the money. If you choose to spend your time finding efficient ways to grind gold, and are willing to put in the blood and sweat, then you can save the money that others have paid. But you shouldn't expect the game to say "Oh hey, here's a fast method to get gold easy so you don't have to pay!!" Because in that case, everyone will go do that and nobody needs to pay.

Over time, some gold farming methods become obsolete and new ones emerge. If you don't want to spend the time to discover new methods of making gold and the time to farm it, then you have to pay them money like the rest of the P2P's who are not interested in finding ways to grind gold.

You either work for it, or you pay for it.

A few years ago, people weren't asking for 300k per diamond either (before AH Dia's). We used to have reliable people that would sell us diamonds on a regular basis. The player base is so small now that its hard to find anyone who is willing to sell for a reasonable price. It was easier to find help then, now as soon as you ask for something, they see who they are selling it to and then price accordingly. Oh look your in that guild....... I'll just tack another 15 million to the price. :monster:

Gotta love how some people on here have to be an a** on here rather than finding a solution. Not every F2P player whines about this situation.
I had a toon that took 4 years to get where it got with only 60 US dollars put in game, never had an alt, just grinding my butt off in every possible way for many hours. I got to a point all I grinded was instances to help everyone around me get as good if not better than my toon. I had days waking up at 10am & run an instance till 10am the next day many times to help myself & everyone around me. As a F2P player I surprised many players beating there butts in sw with all my hard work, having P2P players talk bad things & say things just because they mad they got beat up by a F2P player.
Even if they start capping everything that is being sold in the game to help balance the AH or world chats or something. It is just getting stupid out there now. I've been playing long enough to know what to grind to make gold but they are still selling dias in world chat for stupid prices.
I bought an Adventure Pack for 10 mil gold a couple days ago & they said it's because of the items being sold in AH, that was from a P2P player. & if there is any whining going on in the game, look at your P2P players, cause in my experience as an end game F2P player most P2P players are bored from waiting on some of there F2P players to carry them through runs ( my experience, I'm a tank ).
Everyone complains at some point about something, all I'm asking for is some options to help there game out for both sides not smart a** comments please.

As I see it there are several issues here:

First, the effort to reward ratio is way out of whack for ALL players. ANY player should be able to be competitive with a fair amount of effort and/or investment. Having an alt army doing hours of dailies, minis, etc. every day or investing large amounts of money should be the exception not the expected norm.

In my opinion, a proper base line would be something to the effect of being able to gear up to clear normal instances and be relatively competitive with just a few hours maximum per day of alt grinding or a nominal monetary investment roughly equal to a subscription based game.

Those players who choose to put in much greater amounts of time or invest greater amounts of money should be the ones with the best gear and running the hard mode instances. They are paying for that either in time, money or both and they should see better rewards for their efforts.

Second is the severely unrealistic expectations many players have that they can (and should) have the best possible everything with minimal effort and low monetary investment - even if they don't really need it. Seriously, if a player is doing nothing but dailies, minis, events and siege why is it they all seem to need only the best OD end game gear? Yes, I believe the publishers of the game definitely have a role in creating this issue but a lot of it falls on the players and the communities.

Third issue is the current game pricing structure which has strained the value proposition of even the most ardent fan boy just to be even remotely competitive to run easy and normal mode instances is pushing away more and more existing players every day.

Final thoughts: Communities are also playing a huge role in our declining new player population. I recently created new characters on Reni, Artemis, Govinda and Osha to test the community reception to new players. In short I was very disappointed. My observations were that most new players if they don't get out right ignored get treated as second class players. New players have a hard enough time with so few others running around questing or doing lower level instances. As a community I think we can do a whole lot better.

Again my biggest complaint is that yes we did not have dias in AH for years but we had more rubies and bank/backpack rental tickets were much cheaper. The rate they sell for now is ridiculous and you get fewer rubies per purchase. I still need to open these on alts and don't want to have to buy dias on every account.
My suggestion is that they take the current ruby items away and put in dia ones at the same rate as if you were buying them from that account. 180 dias per page for 6 months is WAY cheaper and more feasible than 90 rubies for 30 days. Then yes we could buy dias from other players and they could gift the appropriate item at a cost we could handle.

To make money, you have to fined SOMETHING to sell. The power guilds sell gear, the rest have to find something else to sell. Mats, potions, bag stats come to mind right away. The problem the OP has is the way he is making money is not creating enough for his needs. He now needs to do something else.

You can run hard mode with a new toon, created today in 1-2 months (or sooner if you have help). It can be done with w/m, r/m or any healer with little difficulty (tank class would be harder.) You do have to put time in, realistically 5 to 6 hours a day. Would a brand new player know how to, maybe, depending on MMO experience, but a vet to RoM should be able to.

Having to put in 5-6 hours a day for creating a hard mode capable toon is one thing. Quite another if players are having to put in 5-6 hours a day just to be geared enough to run normal mode or be even remotely competitive in siege.

A few years ago, gear/stats aren't the price they are now. I remember in Ch 3 when fully statted gear was 12m. Gear prices have changed, so have diamond prices.

And if you forced diamond sellers to sell you for an extremely cheap price, that would only serve to drive them to leave or become F2P. Yes, there are serious issues with the ingame economy and Item shop, but seriously, what type of responses did you expect if you came here and said "I was free to win with ease before and having a great time, now I can't! nerf diamond prices!".

Oooh, F2P *and* price control advocate. Shocking!

Well played Rustyx , well played lol.

Another thread where F2P are crying they can't get diamonds from AH, bouhouhou, They were in AH for 10 months, F2P abused them in AH, buying low, selling high, ya you can say it's the capitalist way, well how is it working for you now?? LMAO!!!

Cike you can argue this till the end of time, it won't change a damn thing. People just have to buy their own diamonds, support the game and enjoy themselves. Don't want to spend real money, want to be all F2P, enjoy yourselves, no one is forcing you. As we are not obligated to sell our diamonds for gold either, i sell in guild only and at low prices to faithful guildies or friends. I will not encourage people who don't give back to the people or the game anymore, there would be no point doing so anyways. Leeches can leave and take their friends with them, people are starting to band together and work as a server and it is a very good thing.

But keep on QQ'ing about F2P not being able to buy diamonds ;( i will keep on playing :gamer:

I believe diamonds were in the AH 16 months, or 1 year and 4 months this time. They were in the AH previously, also, just a fairly long time ago.

As for buy low/sell high, that was Rusty's motto for allowing reselling of diamonds, so you shake his hand and then dip it in the toilet at the same time. :)

Yes, diamonds should be put back in. Like I said when they took them out, judging from past examples, it would probably be a long time, if ever, that they put them back. Just prevent the reselling of them and let the prices go as natural demand would take them. No price limits, unless everything is put on some sort of price limit which would be very challenging, and create quite a few heated discussions. :)

Wow, Zid. Me doth wonder iffn yer treateth the f2p in yer guild wit the same regard. Or iffn they even be welcome in yer guild. Or on yer server. Yer come on the forums, all happy an exclamationy till someone doth dare speaketh bout f2p, then the fangs come out.

Obviously, the OP's post twasn't well thought out, but twas clearly a plea from desperation. This game doth be gettin more an more expensive, no matter iffn yer be f2p or p2p. An that no tis the players fault. We be fightin the wrong monsters here.

As fer the removal o diamonds from the AH, GF clearly stated that the goal twas ter control gold sellers. Not the economy. Not the f2p, an not the p2p. Not the price o diamonds, nor the price o gear. Notice how many world shouts yer done hast seen by gold sellers since they done removered em? That tis right. An since that workered, we no tis gonner see diamonds in the AH gain, unlessn they can figure out a better method. They also no tis gonner seller diamonds fer gold via NPCs ever fer the same reason. Did this done maker our play more difficult? course. Fer everyone, f2p, p2p, whales, casuals, everyone. Tis there a better solution? course there tis.

STOP buyin gold from gold sellers! Our game an our society doth suffer from lack o morality an self-control. Play the game the way twas meant ter be playered. Buy diamonds from Gameforge or other players, earn gold ingame, exchange yer excess fer diamonds, an haver a good time playin.
