And yes I think that people selling stuff for over 100 mil should be banned for exploiting the system. As I have not done that ever... I think 100 mil for one item is too much... plain and simple.
How is it an exploit if the system allows it? Its a free market you don't like the price but I am really glad you are not running this game as everyone would be banned for talking and trying to make a profit. I bet your next idea will be to take all the gold on the server and distribute it equally to everyone so the lazy people don't have to do anything.

Mrpushpop,

I do swear and curse as hell when i hit my finger with a 26 ounces hammer or cut off flesh with my Olfa knife when i work, no kids around and mostly everyone around me agrees for doing so. But incorporating profanities, F/N/C word in every sentence or between each word spoken is just ridiculous. As i said, if you have nothing intelligent to say or just want the attention, you try to get a reaction from people to think you exist, pretty sad.

As to why my kids do not play on Xbox live etc, because too many irresponsible people let their kids, who are below the age written on the damn box : MATURE!!! that means 18 years old and higher. Call of duty and all those kill other people games should not even exist, what is the purpose of those games? see how people you can shot in the head? come on, wake up, that is just free violence and what do you hope to accomplish in those games? nothing. Parents who are irresponsible let their kids play those games, except that their brain is not fully developped to understand all the consequences their mind are exposed too. Stop putting your head in the sand, see more violence and do more violence, viscious circle of those games.

They all end up like this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nq867edpv8E

If someone is out of control with profanity just screen shot and report it and they will get banned as they always have. If you expect to never ever see a swear word then I am just saying its not going to happen and the occasional swearing person should not get banned. Do we even have a big enough population to start banning everyone that slips up and offends 1 person. I am all for protecting kids but I am also for shooting fake people and zombies in the head. I am glad that you do not let your kids play mature games. That means the 10 years old kids I am going to play against tonight are not yours.

Push pop... First... technically the game DOESNT allow it, Since without AAH you aren't able to put things up for that much. Kinda like how you cant mail or COD stuff for 100+ million now. It is an addon that alters what the game had intended. Because they aren't banning people that are doing it does NOT mean the game ALLOWS it. They TOLERATE it. That is a big difference.

But I guess you didn't get that my comment was a direct response to the comment of "So how many people that by pass the 99mill cap in AH have been Banned?" Merely stating that and using that as an excuse why other behaviors should be allowed... Yea then I say ban them. If GF TOLERATING that leads people to believe they should Tolerate other behavior... then yeah crack down on it too... Or did that point just sail right over your head.

I didn't bring it up Someone else did and I made that comment to show how flawed of an argument that was to make. But I guess you took it literally.. which is ok... but not the point I was making.

I agree with you one timers. People who slip shouldn't get banned. I also agree with Ghostwolf any word used in the game, and with NPCs, shouldn't be filtered... nor bannable... Like Cave.... *rolls eyes*. The problem is that there are people that know certain words will get @$*@# filtered... so they spell it another way... JUST so the filter doesn't kick in. Others like using world broadcast systems, that are part of the festival to also say things the filter would normally filter out.. cause I guess they think it is funny.... THOSE are the people that need to get banned.

There are groups of people on Artemis that not only do this, but then they also have disgusting conversations in world. Some that are extremely depraved and sexual in nature.. I don't know I guess they think it makes them important or something. While what they are discussing is not filtered at all... the content is extremely offensive. Now luckily probably the most prominent of them has taken a permanent "vacation" from the game. But every time he returns he has just started up again with the stuff.

I for one, think stuff like that needs to NOT be in world.. if you wanna be depraved, sexual and just down right raunchy... then do it in guild chat, party chat, or whispers. Problem is some of this community thinks that Everyone wants to hear, or needs to hear that so it is commonly thrown into world. I for one will keep screenshotting it, keep reporting it... I don't care how many get banned..

ADULTS don't act like that.

Also... it is pretty bad to use the actions of 10 year olds, that are not being monitored by their parents on Xbox live as an example as to why the behavior should be accepted. What ? Do we all think that if some young punks, who have never had a punishment in their life should dictate the behavior of the rest of the world.... no wonder standards in the US are slipping.

I am saying you cannot escape it. I am saying if you cant deal with it then unplug. Because no matter what game you play if it has a social aspect you will see objectionable content. I HATE bans in Rom. I play on Indigo (small population) you ban 1 endgame player that runs content vulgar or not you just hurt our entire server. We are a server that pugs, run in any group guild or not to clear content. You take a fellow player away cause he woke up on the wrong side of the bed got PK'd and filled world chat with profanity, you just hurt the server. Sure his actions sucked, sure some kid may of saw it. On Artimus you may be able to get that player banned and move on just fine. On Indigo you may of just taken 1 of the only 2 tanks that can run Grotto and punished every end gameplayer. All I am saying is lets be very very light with our wish of the ban hammer.

@DkJester:
Yes, that was the post, but I interpreted it quite differently than you did.

Quoted

Yes, they do.

Currently, opinion seems to be going in the general area of "The AFK rules apply" sand so I have re-enabled the posts. However, if Runewaker changes the way these two quests work...

Also, please don't whine about my attempting to prevent you from getting yourselves banned...

His last sentence, when he said "don't while about..." was a reply to a previous post, who was QQing about I don't remember what. it was. It does not mean that farming Papp gets you banned.

Also, if it IS a bannable offense, then why are the posts re-enabled? That thread was a guide to Papp pretty much (if I remember correctly, maybe it was another). But either way, if all those posts teaching you how to farm him are RE-ENABLED, then it is not a bannable offense, otherwise they wouldn't be re-enabled.

Thirdly, I think we need more info on WHY that palenque person was banned. Was he banned for Botting, or was he banned for exploiting? Because it seemed like he was accidently banned for botting. If he was banned for exploiting, why does the GM need to whisper him to see if he's a bot? Expoiters are banned regardless of whether they're a bot or not.

So in essence you are saying we should just put up with it. Allow the behavior to continue... Rather than report people and try to make the entire experience better? So we should just "unplug" rather than report people breaking rules? That is a real Stick your head in the sand solution. You hate bans? Did you hate all the rollbacks and server down time from the hackers? Should they have just let them continue on their rampage? Cause I mean if we cant deal with a few people hacking in an online game (which is common practice, aimbots, etc) then we should just unplug rather than be part of the solution? So lowlife, childish behavior should just be tolerated... cause they are some of the few left? Ever think they might be one of the reasons so few are left. Their other childlike behaviors probably drove players away... and you want them to be coddled and accepted in their actions.. Welp ... tells me you would rather have a game full of, cheating, hacking, offensive children that run the whole place cause people are too afraid to stand up and make them act right..... Wow do you do that as a parent? You don't want your child leaving/disliking you so you just accept certain behavior? I mean it is better than being the bad guy, or actually laying down rules and enforcing consequences?

God that is the problem with America... rather spare the consequences to children because they might dislike us if they do.... How did we come to this as a country??????

Hackers/Dupers/cheaters ruin servers and therefore disrupt the gameplay for everyone. This is bannable offense and I am fine with that. Cussing in world chat does not ruin a server and disrupt gameplay for everyone. It may make you uncomfortable, your friends uncomfortable but it will not stop you from finishing what your doing and you can blacklist and never be bothered by that player again. Again my view is this game has a small population. Lets only ban people if it disrupting gameplay. I would say botting also disrupting gameplay for people as the bot will now ill effect the economy server wide in a negative way. In my example, I listed an Indigo tank having a off day and losing control in world chat. That would make some people uncomfortable and did he break rules bad enough to justify a ban EHH maybe. should a GM ban him no. Banning a player on a low population server does not punish that player as much as it punishes everyone else. Now, I saw something offensive and I cannot run Grotto for 30 days. Double Whammy.

Edit:
The game has a low population: Yes not so many annoying hateful people are in world chat as there you used to be. That is because there is less good people too. There are less people in general.

Okay, I think we have strayed rather far afield here, considering that the topic is "Game losing its F2P Players", not "People are getting banned for no good reason". Let's get back to the original topic.

But first, I'm going to address some of the "ban" concerns.

1. Read the ToS when you next log into the game. I mean READ it, and comprehend what is considered to be unacceptable behavior IN GAME. This includes but is not limited to hacking, duping, using third-party programs, using known exploits in order to gain an unfair advantage over other players, obscene/profane language, editing the game files as provided by Gameforge in order to circumvent such things as the profanity filter, modeling, and so forth. If you are reported to Support for ANY of these things and we determine the report is accurate, your game account WILL receive, at the very least, a suspension from the game for a period of time. Your game account MAY receive a permanent ban if the rule violation is egregious. If that ban is accurate, you will NOT get that account unbanned.

2. Read the Terms and Conditions. This can be found at the bottom of the main website page. Link here: http://agbserver.gameforge.com/enGB-TaC-Runes-of-Magic.html

When you registered for a forum/game account you agreed to abide by the T&C. Every time you visit the website, forums, and log into the game, you agree to abide by the T&C.

3. Profanity in public channels in-game: Don't do it. Don't edit the profanity filter. Don't substitute symbols for letters in an attempt to bypass the profanity filter. And the fact that a certain word that is a vulgar substitute for "feces" is used in a quest description does NOT mean that it's acceptable to use in public channels in-game.

I don't want a lot more tickets to be generated, but if you see one or more people using profanity in a public channel in-game, send a ticket to Support. Provide a screenshot. Provide ACCURATE date and time when the offense occurred.

But... do NOT make false or spurious reports. Do not alter screenshots (we can tell) to falsely accuse another player. We will find out and the consequences will not be pleasant.

Enough. Get back to the original discussion, and play nice.

This is a reply to the topic proposed by the OP, not the general chitchat in this page:

I usually buy diamonds once a month (not much though, due to dollars being worth quite a bit in my country's currency) and I often sell them when I need gold; the removal of dias from AH didn't really make an impact on how most P2P players sell their dias, as others pointed out it actually reduced the price of dias on some servers (I'm from Reni). The problem with the high diamond prices was mostly due to players resseling dias which can't really happen now.

As for the matter of how much the game used to be easier for you, I'm sorry but I wouldn't know much about that since I've played this for hardly a year. Though I've been given to understand both by my gaming experience and lurking on forums that if you want to be F2P you'll really have to work for it, which quite frankly should be doing more than dailies and minigames. Anyway, I'm completely against any price cap on diamond prices, P2P players buy them with their own money and have the right to sell them for much they want, just like F2P players can sell their hard earned gear for how much they want. People just need to work together and find a common ground eventually otherwise every player category ends up losing.

I shall stay on topic! Mostly!

A) Yes, the game is becoming more difficult for the free to play, which is not a good idea, since the population is dwindling excessively. Instead of blaming things on "greedy" ftp or "greedy" ptp, we should sanely be pointing our cranky fingers at the real culprit: excessive need to spend cash to get power in this game.

Consider: A sub game, you know the one *wink*, asks you to spend $15 per month to get... well, everything. All the gear and stats and mounts and costumes and upgrading you could ever want. This game? $15 might get you one mount. You could spend the equivalent of 6 months of game time upgrading one weapon in this game. The money to power ratio in RoM, especially once you factor in things like quality of game, expansiveness of world, ease of play, quality of service, population, economy, blabbity blah to infinity... well, it's like a 100:1 in "that other game"'s favor. And "that other game" isn't the only one out there.

Wanna know why the RoM population stinks? See above.

No one should really be bitching at players. They aren't the enemy, and they aren't at fault. Things are difficult for the free to play because things are stupidly difficult and expensive for everyone, and that would be Gameforge's fault. They might want to take a look at the base costs to play this game and make some more changes.

B) Hiya, my name is Fan, and I'm back. Kinda. Sorta. Missed you guys. Didn't really miss RoM at all, aside from my toon's smexy heels, but I did miss you guys, which is the one and only reason I am back. Sorta.

C) Dias off the AH? Sigh. Why can't we have nice things? Adding them back in with a limitation that would lock them to your account to prevent reselling would kill the goldseller bird and the inflation bird with one stone. Maybe some smarty like Saito or Kalvan could make that suggestion to the Powers that Be?

Cike that is the best one you have written, LMAO!!! Well if you are F2P, you will spend a lot of time farming, crafting etc, You just want it easier for F2P as usual, not surprising. Spend a lot of time doing stuff in game or spend diamonds, pretty easy in my book.

f2p endgame should be time consuming, soul-sucking, life-absorbing etc...f2p to simply enjoy the "normal" gameplay(normal mode instances) should be viable with only a couple hours invested a day(into actual character building activities, not including SW, fun runs, etc...)

i fail to see how what i have been arguing for is so outrageous. not everybody has 6+ hours a day to spend on an MMO, nor the cash to pay for endgame. no, they should not be endgame, but with 1-2 hours a day dedicated towards character improvement, i don't think it is wrong that they shud be able to do normal mode instances.

zid i have no idea how you think this impacts me, but it doesn't. i've been f2p for a while, i'll openly admit that. does that mean i think i deserve to be endgame just for playing a couple hours a day? no. does that mean i want things easy for f2p? i don't give a flying hoot personally, as my current playstyle is, well, i could say: "unique", and isn't really at all effected by anything discussed in the whole f2p/p2p argument(unless it comes to sub-based discussion). would i like to see more of my friends stick around? yes. and the biggest reason driving p2p towards f2p and f2p away is the cost(both time and/or money) of the game. i don't want to see anybody else leave. while it may not be in your interests to have a cheaper f2p, as it would infringe upon your playstyle, it would benefit the game as a whole more. cheaper game = more people = more paying customers = more money for GF as well as a larger community, more active guilds, more active people, probably more PuG's. more people is a good thing almost any way you slice it, and the single most powerful force driving people away from the game is the cost.

the game in general needs to be cheaper if it is going to try and attract new players. a cheaper game would be beneficial to everybody, f2p, p2p, and GF...

zid, also think of it this way: easier f2p means u don't need to buy as many dias to support ur current playstyle, so it would even reduce costs for p2p players as well.

am i not being clear or something? because i get the feeling alot of the people here do not understand what i am trying to say...

damn, i'm starting to channel a little fan... :P

+1

The problem is, even regular P2P's aren't viable enough to do normal mode instances, at least they think they aren't anyway (not sure which one). I mean, how many guilds have cleared Bela Normal, which is the "normal" difficulty of instances and involves strat? The few that can are classified as "OP endgame" already. I think your argument is reasonable, but when so much of the population can't even do normal mode instances, arguing that F2P should be able to do it becomes a problem.

Consider this. Most common way to get gold is farming dog meat. I don't sell them nor buy them so I'm only gonna guess price for a stack of them. 2milieu. Close. Ok so with average competition for said popular item say u can farm a stack an hour, at 2mil a stack. Dias at 100k per is 20 dias. Now if those prices are what it is really that comes to roughly 5$ an hour. So your saying in essence your time in real world work is worth more than a f2p time in game farming mind numbingly boring tasks. Get real. I wont buy dias from anyone that considers my time and effort farming stuff worth so little. I haven't bought dias from anyone since they broke 20k per. Its ridiculous. Farm your own stuff I say. This game almost has me ready to spend real money again. Been holding out for a really nice and hopefully soon anniversary sale. Been on strike since the 5x dias fiasco.

my two cents. game NEEDS p2p and f2p.

I for one... depend on those that farm mercilessly throughout the day to put pots, materials, bag stats, hell welly anything that i just dont have the time to do myself while i work, take care of kid, house, life . lol.
I do believe if we lost "those" VIP to me it would destroy this game. I for one HAVE to be p2p because i cant play that much nemore.

On profanity, depends on where you come from how.. easy it is spoken :)

I for one was born in massachusetts, and still live nearby, and safely " *(&^%^^$" say (hehe jk) that, well theres a reason they have the nick name masshole (not sure if they will delete that or not, shouldnt, idk, just a nickname)

point is we all yankees up in new england and theres another reason we called this. lol Its almost become second nature for most of us to use different f words as adjectives.

I own my own business and aresmart enough to know when to use them and when not to use them, but its because i care. Now how many out there do you think... well.... care?

We all know that cheaper RL cost for diamonds is a good thing. Trust me I wouldn't mind getting more diamonds for my money. If DIamonds were cheaper (still talking RL money right not) MAYBE, hopefully, some of the F2P players or Hesitant P2P players will spend more regularly. This is the primary concern. Sorry, but it is true, GF selling more diamonds for money is the MOST important thing.

Now here is the problem with that when it is analyzed on F2P players. Just cause more players are buying diamonds for RL money, doesn't mean they are going to sell more for gold. In fact I could have 20k diamonds on my account and I wouldn't sell any... ever ... at any time. That is ESPECIALLY if diamond prices drop below 150k per diamond. It just isn't worth my money to transfer it to gold for less than that, especially with prices of gear. If gear for gold prices stay where they are and diamonds prices drop, a lot of people still wont bother to sell diamonds for gold. Which means diamond prices will stay high. And if you try to cap a diamond/gold exchange rate... you run the risk of having less and less diamond sellers.

So we have a few problems

1) Not as many are buying diamonds
2) Even less are selling them to F2P players, this causes a high demand and low supply and prices will hit a consistent price
3) F2P players have a harder time getting diamonds cause there are not as many on the market and the "rich, to-doers" or F2Win like I say, buy them all leaving none for new/more casual F2P players.
4) You will NEVER find a system that is fair for new/more casual F2P players, that these F2Win players wont ruin for everyone else. They WILL find a way around a system if it is exploitable.

I agree, unless certain parts of the F2P community (the F2Winers, and I know that is SMALL part, heck MAYBE 1% of the population) start to care about the community more than themselves there are little options. This is the point, which is very unpopular since a lot of F2Win players frequent the forums. They are the ones though that made 30 accounts to buy out cedric every day in less than an hour (Yes Artemis I would check early on many occasions and they were bought out!). So that doesn't help new F2P players, or more casual players.

The answer isn't making diamonds cheaper over all.. cause these people will again corner the market, buy out all the stock on the server (whether from cedric which had limited transactions per day, or from the now LIMITED P2P players that are reselling diamonds). These F2Win players are the reason the ENTIRE F2P community lost Cedric. Really they are part of the reason some P2P players left. It isn't fun getting fleeced.

Remember Ebilone here on the forums, he used to spend a TON, he quit. One reason he put on the forums and in gameMANY times was that these players that want low diamond prices while still fleecing people for gear. I am NOT, repeat, NOT talking about the whole F2P community. F2Win is what I call them. They fleeced people for years and let the paying players get disparaged. Why sell my diamonds to this guy for x, then have him turn around and fleece me for the gear I need. So people quit doing it. They just bought their own diamonds and found how to play without having to sell diamonds for gold. This reduced the stock of diamonds for the rest of you F2P players... I don't get why you aren't more upset that they are the major reason YOU don't get nice things.

Now that my rant is over... I am pretty sure EVERYONE agrees that more diamonds for your $$ or more items for your diamonds is good for P2P, and might be good for F2P.... I say might... cause wont do you any good if people still don't resell them at a greater rate (thank your F2Win playerbase for that as the stock will be gone before your casual F2P players get a shot). There is no other solution that will not be exploited. These are the people that exploited World bosses, over and over and over to prosper, abused Cedric, etc etc. My hope would be that diamond prices would come down for the Average F2P players, but I am not 100% sure it would.

Now this is where diamonds out of the AH could be a good thing. Sellers could make a point to sell to more casual, average F2P players. Now that ball is in our, the P2P, players hands.

Personally I don't know many other solutions. But I am all for more diamonds for your buck... why cause maybe then more will spend money, GF will make more money, servers will continue on. I just cant say 100% that it will benefit new F2P players or even your casual F2P players as much as people would like to think it will.
