Most likely they just have more active and motivated communities and players. Really the thing that makes RoM appear to be on the decline is the lack of player activity. Maybe they should just rename the game "Runes of Siege then log for the night" or "Runes of sit in your House or guild castle all day until siege starts"- at least on the U.S. Servers that would be a more accurate description right now.

rift gear that you can purchase is one full tier lower than the best gear and costs 100 dollars per piece. so yes you can get inferior armor set for about a grand(or get the same gear running 5 man dungeons). the best gear in rift is still received from running high end dungeons and raids.

yeah 100 bucks gets you 18500 credits, looking at all level 60 plate, HIGHEST piece was 10500. Lowest being 7000.


Yes still expensive closer to 50 though on average. But if you look at this game:

100 mil for OD BETH HM pieces, that is like 555 diamonds
513 dias for T7
59 dias for rune slots
assuming buying stats at 30 mil a piece, 6 stats, 180 mil or 1000 diamonds
20 +6 gems, 12 +12, 8 +16 gems, 50+165+(what is last rate for +16s? lets say 59 each, which I know is low)472



or about 2814, or close to 50 bucks per piece of gear if you buy it straight out.

This is for two instances back, OD, only +16, subpar stats if you are only paying 30 mil a stat, and not including the cost of runes. Again that is someone just dropping money on it and not farming a thing themselves.. Just like you were staying about Rift.

So my comparison is pretty accurate. Not saying thought that anyone should decide to go that route, but people do do it. Most farm part of it themselves to mitigate the costs.

That's why gear and stats should be account bound and everyone farm stuff for themselves. There's still mini-games for better stats if you don't want to go that route. Players who don't run end game instances don't need end game gear and stats anyway. Of course that would pretty much kill about 90% of the current players ability to make any money but at least it would be "fair".

i agree if EVERY SINGLE THING is Account bound, or NOTHING at all is ever BOUND, even on equip.
and no abl or bind lifter !

the game will last depending on the community.
Good community = last longer
Bad community = last shorter

now u decide.

well, depends also on GF or whoever, developping the game.

DK, the problem is, they do not want to farm, do minis, do instances, do petcrafting, do crafting at all, they should have access to the best the game as to offer because they are all winners!!!!! You know when a kid bugs their parents enough for something, well to shut them up, the parents gives it to them, same issues.

BTW to those all talking about Rift and how great it is, mmhh, what are you doing here if that game is so great and cheap?? i wonder?

The same type of question could be asked, why do people who have such a disdain for free to play players, who look down on them as an inferior player stay in a free to play game instead going to a subscription game, but we all know the answer to that as well.

as for rift, it is a great game with a great model, it is a game with a population that is always full. it isn't the tumbleweeds rom has become. as for the reason why some who quit ROM continue to come on the forums or check on the game from time to time. it is because the game at its core is a great game that has been ruined by a p2w model that destroys any chance for new players to latch onto.

I don't see rom closing anytime soon, it still has a lot of players that are actively wasting money into the game despite the lack of changes. Until something big happens and they stop spending I don't see it happening.

Yeah Zid I agree with you on that whole thing. GIMMIE NAO!!! has become the norm now a days. People think you should be able to have big TVs, awesome cars, and wonderful games without having to pay or without having a job. That isn't only their fault though, our wonderful gov't seems bent on giving that impression. Children are raised completely different then when I was a kid. When a parent gave their kids a whooping for doing something stupid, not a one of them thought about calling the cops. Today a parent disciplines their child, there is a chance the kid makes a stink at school or calls the cops themselves and the parent goes to jail. I mean you gotta be kidding me. The parents are afraid of the kids and we are getting a generation of completely useless teenagers getting ready to become adults...

It is enough to make me sick.

Course I hope your comment about Rift being cheap and great isnt directed at me Just merely stating the facts cause someone found it necessary to lie to make a point. I play rom 80% of the time I have for games. The other too are F2P/P2Win models, and I spend a little money on them. One I spend 15% of my time on ... is just a completely different game than this, a FPS instead of an RPG. I like playing it, just couldn't spend the time on it that I do RoM lol. The last 5% is other RPGs, that are fun, just not as good as RoM. If your comment wasn't directed at me.. nevermind this then

I don't think RoM will close anytime soon either, because the US aren't the only servers. There's a lot more players and big spenders in EU, especially the Germans, who are probably contributing a huge portion to keeping the game going, and making up for the lack of profits from less populated servers. Even AU hasn't been closed yet, even though I'm pretty sure the profit coming out of Au is nearly 0.

Unless they do some serious advertising, I'm pretty sure RoM will just keep going along as it has always been, with a small community.

I think you are correct about the EU players spending more, however if any server continues to cost more than they bring in they will most likely shut it down. No reason to keep it running unless you have a 2nd motive. The AU server is somehow still running, most likely at a loss, I would wager this is just so they can brag they have a presence in AU. However you can see how they have shut down things on the AU server to save cost and I highly doubt they are ever brought back.

That'd be my guess to, and party to keep morale up. If they closed AU, people on US and EU would freak out (and for good reason) and stop spending for fear that their server is next.

DK i would never target you loll, at least i would say it straight to your face ;-), it'S just that people come here and post how should Gameforge do things like subscription base and all that, the only issue i see is that they can't level toons high enough to enjoy the game to the level that we do. They don't want to spend a dime to support it either, but they will complain till the dawn of time about everything being expensive, cry babies.


I started working when i was 12 years old, had summer jobs since that age and weekends so i could afford what i wanted. My dad wasn't rich and could only give me so much, so for me it was like taking a load of his back. But today you are right DK , goverments, schools, society in general tells all the kids that they are all winners, they deserve the best, even if they can't afford it and that everyone is equal, well, IT'S ALL LIES!!!!!! NOTHING IS FREE!!!! omg now how many of these will be so disappointed ;-((


This game is F2P if you want to stay at mid level range, always has been. Wanna get better, well improve yourselves by the free ways in the game and if you have only 1 hour a day to put into the game, well buy diamonds. If you can't do one or the other, well find another game. pretty simple solution.

"back in the day" :)) well, back in the 70's & 80's, it was pretty common to work @ DQ at the ripe ol' age of 12-14... at least in Iowa. :) Heck, some of my friends had paper routes @ 8.

Like Ycavan said common in those years, also i wasn't working in restaurant, i was servicing and installing garage doors at that age, 3 to 4$ an hour and no overtime paid passed 40 hours of work, that is how it was. At least we had the reasonning of helping out our parents since the economy wasn't that good at all. But the spoiled little bratz of today have all those supposed diseased or excuses to not work and think society should provide for them. But we can all wait till the end of the year, house mortgage rates will go up and people will realized that we never got over the recession of a few years back, they just hid it by lowering interest rates and playing with the numbers. Then people will see why we had to do that in the 80"s, lol.

OBVIOUSLY by signature. i was born and raised on a farm lol... and tbh.. i think EVERYONE should work at a farm while they are young. because it instills values, and respect, and morals you will never learn from public schools or society.
people lost all those seems last few years.
