Un-Documented Patch notes 6.1.0

So I have yet to see an official patch notes (maybe I missed it, so if someone has the link, please provide it). However, as I have been playing a champion for a long while now as my main, and logged in tonight to get some levels knocked out, I realize sadly that my toon is going into permanent retirement. Malkira has died. The death of my main is caused by an undocumented change in the game that hits exactly two champion classes. I knew this day was coming, but I was hoping it would take a lot longer than it did. However, my guess is it comes because it leveled the playing field between champion/priest - champion/warlock and rogues. As anyone who has spent any time in this game, if it doesn't help a rogue, it has to go.

Now, on to the pertinent information...

Champions have a buff called Forge, which when a champion gets in a white swing will activate a secondary buff that can last up to 8 seconds called Chain Drive. While Chain Drive is in effect, the skill Rune Pulse goes from being a 2 sec cast to an instant cast, and when Rune Pulse is used, it uses up the Chain Drive buff. However, Chain Drive does not only make Rune Pulse instant, it makes ALL skills instant. If you didn't use Rune Pulse then the Chain Drive effect didn't go away, and you could spam a casted skill instantly for 8 seconds. Casted skills have no CD, which means you could insta-cast any skills which would normally have a cast time and only need to get in a white swing to reactivate Chain Drive every 8 seconds (which was easily do-able). For a ch/p this meant you could insta-cast Rising Tide and Urgent Heal pretty much forever due to the mana req's on those skills if you had a large enough mana pool (basially 30k mana was enough). This was pretty much the case to a lesser degree for the ch/wl as well, but far more restricted due to energy having a limiting effect on the amount of times you could cast Psychic Arrows.

This "bug" has now been fixed, sort of. While all casted skills can still be instant, any casted skill will use up the Chain Drive buff. ONLY Rune Pulse is supposed to work with Chain Drive, but since they can't figure out how to do that apparently, they have made it so all casted skills use up the buff.

While it lasted, it meant that I could tank instances pretty well as a Ch/P due to how the aggro built up for my toon, and I could also do pretty well in SW. Not great, but pretty well. Even against Rogues. This is why I think this was fixed so quickly. Anything that evens the playing field between any class and rogues can't happen in RoM.

For those that knew about this before it got nerfed, we had fun while it lasted. To those that never knew how awesome it was to play a Ch/P in cloth gear with MA stats and be able to solo grotto when it was new and are just now finding out about this from reading it here...well, you missed a great time in RoM for sure! I was out soloing things that no one else could duo lol.

Anyways, if you guys find any other undocumented changes, post them up here. :borg: :blackeye:

Must agree with you there Ghost. While I only played it on *that other server* it was hella fun, solo'ed Targ, tanked beth hm and most of bela hm. In burns it wasn't near the top seeing as rising tide doesn't scale well at all, but it was fun and being able to deal damage while healing myself/others was great. ch/p was a god at solo farming bela easy for int/ma stats. wl/ch was the only other class I could do it on. :S

Didn't much like ch/wl though xD 3 casts of arrows and you're done >.<
Cammo (82 M/82 W/82 R) 116,147 unbuffed Matk :D (95k pa - r/m)
Livia (82 P/77 K/75 S) wisdom O.o wtf is that...
~~ retired - Thanks to gameforge for that. ~~

Honestly, this is a pretty poor excuse to get up from the game and just leave. Just because you can no longer solo Grotto due to an obvious bug/exploit? Really?

A lot of folks have been gimped by the Scout "fix", or the Knight "fix" and have kept on going. If you knew they were going to fix it, why did you keep going with the class combination? Why are/were you relying on the exploit to play your class? I'm fairly sure that Ch/P is a pretty viable class combination, with or without the exploit being in place.

Honestly. A poor reason to just get up and leave the game. QQ much?

Leaving the game because an obvious bug was fixed? You said yourself it was "only" supposed to work with rune pulse, so the fact that it worked with anything was a bug. Are we at the point now where we're quitting because bugs are being fixed? Boo hoo you can't exploit ch/p anymore and solo everything.

And enough with the frieking "It was better than rogues so it was nerfed" crap. Lots of classes are better than rogues, ESPECIALLY champion classes. Ch/R and Ch/M are both better in sw than rogues (Champion is one of the most overpowered siege classes in the game right now), so are wardens, even K/M's are better in some cases. Rogues are far from the gods you all make them out to be in RoM.

I do not even know where to start with this. It is nothing less that appalling. To cry in public, that an exploit that you have been using no longer works... The whole thing is just ridicules.

it was a bug/exploit and "fixed". not yet properly fixed but we reported the issues with the fix again (but that didnt made it for 6.1.0 release in time).

Tell me when you are done embarassing yourself with complaining that exploits get fixed so we can close this thread, because it is, frankly, useless.

"While Forge is in effect, all hits landed by normal attacks have a chance to reset the cooldown time of Rune Pulse, turn it to an instant spell and increase damage dealt."

NOT

"While Forge is in effect, all hits landed by normal attacks have a chance to reset the cooldown time of <ANYTHING> , turn it to an instant spell and increase damage dealt."

This is probably the saddest thing ive seen, you can't play a class without exploiting so you quit... <removed>

Edited...Aqualink.
W/S now because hitting 40mil BC and 90mil TA is balanced

First off, Borella, get off your high horse before you fall off and hurt yourself.

For the rest... I was barely playing anyways as it is due to real life, this was just the push I needed to not really feel any gumption to return to the game in any kind of big push anymore. For me, this is a good thing. But thanks for putting a bad taste in my mouth as I am heading out the door, I appreciate that, especially from a GM. Up until that post, I would have spoken highly of this game in future talks with anyone in any game, but thanks for making me not want to anymore. As for Jguy - plenty of people left, just outright left with no word said at all after the scout super nerf. I was trying to say goodbye and let people know why I was leaving. I'm not mad at all about it, was just the final push to no longer worry about this game having any kind of hold on me, and you all took it so wrong, and decided to be jackasses to a veteran player. No wonder people I tried to talk into playing this game (even recently) decided to not play here. Again, I am not mad in any way that this was fixed, and had not even been playing that toon much recently due to time restrictions. I'm glad though that some of you can seem to jump on this with all sorts of wrong assumptions. Way to keep it classy guys.

Edit: Also, without this, Ch/P really isn't viable as a tank. This "glitch" is actually the only thing that made it viable. Otherwise it is as viable as a R/P...and how many of you are playing that combo because of how awesome it is? Yeah, thought so.

Sorry if it came across as unfriendly but it is more of "laying the finger in the wound".

Because after all, the whole purpose of this thread of yours, is a long complaining rant over how a fixed bug/exploit makes you quit or retire. The skill description alone contradicts the purpose of your entire thread already. It might be harsh but true, because publicly complaining in a page long thread that a bug/exploit got fixed and that makes you retire is ...... - what exactly, if you ask yourself this question?

Bugs dont get fixed - everyone rages and screams.
Bugs DO get fixed - everyone rages and screams.

Just great.

My suggestion is: Calm down, take a break if you need to, and instead of writing rants like this that lead to absolutely nothing but ridiculing the author, come up with decent suggestions how to make your "unviable" combo Champion/Priest "viable" again.

I think the thread has run its course by now and can and will be closed soon-ish. It's open for another while, so there's enough time for any "in before the lock" posts but please keep offtopic/spam out, everyone. Thanks.

Five years of suggestions falling on deaf ears about how to balance classes and fix things make me not want to put forth the effort on how to fix yet another class or combo, knowing it will never be done. Sorry if that sounds harsh, but I'm "laying the finger in the wound" as well.

Again, I am perfectly ok with the bug getting fixed. I have no problem with it. Was just saying goodbye pretty much, and explaining why I am exiting. I am not mad or upset about the fix, bugs go forever without any kind of fix to them, this one just came sooner rather than later, and I feel no pull to put another $500 into another toon.

This thread brings an undocumented change to light, as is the title of the thread, and therefor everything so far has been on topic that I have said. The bashing on me is quite off topic. This is why no one posts anything they find wrong, if you post up anything, you get berated, so better to just leave it go and hope for the best. Which never comes. Leave the thread open in case anyone else finds more undocumented changes and would otherwise have to open new threads to post such info.
