Pillar of Morfan Strat discussion

Thought I'd start a thread to discuss the strats and observations for the instance.

First boss (Hardmode): Boss casts Charged Sonic Sting, which seems to be a close ranged aoe that hits multiple times and makes the ground orange around it. I think the AoE starts hitting harder as the fight goes on. Because our group survived the first few of these, but after awhile it seems to instantly oneshot the entire melee group. Has anyone tried silencing this cast or moving boss away from orange spot? Ranged got hit by a straight line AoE that seemed to be % based but didn't seem to hit too hard.

After 20 seconds, a yellow message says "In the distance, a deep metalic sound rings out" and first mob spawns. They seem to spawn once every 10 seconds after that. We tried killing the mobs, but they had too much HP, and we couldn't kill it before next mob spawned. When we ignored the mobs, by the time we died we were up to 4 mobs and it was a giant lagfest of confusion.

Third boss (normal): 3 containers spawn on the ground in front of the entrance to the room, and they cast several AoE's that hit for 20-30k but seems to hit several times as well. The containers can be avoided as their AoE have short range. Curse of the Soul Devourer is a AoE cast that hits for a large amount of everyone's HP and leaves a DoT on everyone it hits. Can be magic immuned against.

Last boss (normal): There's a yellow message that says something along the times of devices resonating to the boss, and the boss resonates back. When that happens, the tank gets hit for like 20 times. Devices have 7m HP. Also, boss heals. Anyone know if he heals when he reaches a certain % of his HP, or after a certain time period, or after a cast? I don't think I saw any casts before he healed but I could have missed it. Also a crap ton of AoE's at this boss. He was annoying on easy and normal... I wouldn't want to see him in Hardmode lol.

According to some on the German forums, the door that stops people from going past 3rd boss doesn't disappear after it is killed. Not sure if this happens on easy/normal mode but this happened to us on hard mode and after we killed 3rd boss we could no longer continue.

I know this is probably more of a bug report but just want to know if anyone else has been past 3rd in hard mode yet.

Only happens on hard mode but not every time. 2 german guilds have now cleared full with some also killing 4th. So it seems to be random.

Rom instances have had door glitches before. More recent one, Before the ICE 6th boss in Beth, I believe. 2 levers but sometimes the 2nd one wont spawn mobs.

More famous old door problem is the notorious box room in GCH. That room can still bug out to this day

seems like the barrier for 3rd does not go down if the tank dies before/as the boss dies

In my first run on easy mode I had to reset the instance due the barrier. Idk if it's related but I died twice. Now I can easily burn him in 4-5 seconds and hasn't happened again

Lol how would anyone from ppk really know,3 sw over the years is a great way to know a whole guild.
I do however find it funny!
We try but we are not all fully geared and statted but we do have a lot of fun.
And fun is what the game should be about.
Nice vid Bb that may come in handy even if we are not clearing hard.

PPK pretty much burns everything cause they can lol. However, the third boss got them pretty good. The thing does a powerful aoe that is tough. Also im not sure how hard last boss is, but it did took the first guild from german side almost 10 hours to figure it out.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but i think only ppk is burning 1-3 (and 4 with right people). There is probably strat for people who can't afford absurd gear.

Last boss is a pain.

figured i'd put them here, at least until yoman finishes rom-welten article.

stats are pulled directly from rom-welten. if i made any mistakes, lemme know.

Umm looking at that 905k-990k defense, Im wondering if anyone knows what the magic/physical soft cap is? I asked around Palenque and someone replied that on new instance on Hard Mode, 200k MA wasn't cutting it for them so I was hoping someone knows the formula.

PS. Based on this 2011 thread it is around .83 but it's 3 years old and I don't want to revive it.

200k matk isn't really even enough for Grotto HM even... If you're wanted to get near or top of scrut as mage in Morfan HM you're going to be needing much higher matk, but the exact matk amount will vary depending on your secondary class ofc, as some mages will get more matk then others during burn.

Well im currently gearing a warmage so I probably won't be needing as much as other mages because of the 67.2% from stacking Electrical rage but I was wondering if anyone knew an estimate.

With the amount of Pdef/Mdef those bosses have? Even with M/Wl they'd still have like 600k... so I'd think as much as possible...
