A word of caution about new mails

Some o me alts be receivin mails from gold sellers. the mail includeth one gold. Aye, one, lol how cheap can they done doth get? Anyways, me first o all, wantered ta let the powers be bout the new gold seller advertisin method. Secondly, me done doth wantered ta warn players, buyin gold tis a bad idear, in many different ways. Third, me hast a question fer the GMs: should we done doth return the mail or ignore it (lettin it expire in the 3 days)?

Yeah i received the same thing as well on my alt this morning kinda funny, they are trying to enforce bans on power leveling when they cant even keep the scammers/dupers out. #winning.

The problem here isnt dias in the ah,we dont see world shouts anymore.and thanks Lemonater for the heads up.
If they mail me anything i will just return it and send a screenie to support and maybe our gms can get rid of them.

Goldseller mails to characters isn't a new trick, but including any amount of gold as an attachment is a different twist.

The best thing to do is to leave the mail and the attachment alone or, if possible, send it back.

If you use a mail addon that automatically collects and/or deletes mail, turn off that particular option.

isnt there a way to just eliminate it from the game much like how dias were from the ah to help stop this issue? lot of help that did hah :dash: :dash: :dash:Kal it just sounds like your saying we know about it but we want you to ignore it at least that's how i took it, whats being done to fix this issue and will dias be now re allowed back in the ah seeing how it wasn't the issue thoughts,comments mildy curious like whats steps are being made so that this does not happen again?.

1st. In case you haven't noticed, diamond prices are no longer 300k each, after they took them out of the AH. Even though rubies are a little harder to get for us F2P players (boohoo)... :)

2. Yes, they know about it, they can't do anything about it. They are only the publishers, they can ban players, and so when they ban the gold spammers. Guess what? They make more accounts. They have to tell Runewaker about the problem and look to them for fixing it. That being said, knowing Runewaker, it may be a week, a month, a year, hell maybe even longer...

Slightly off-topic: Gameforge just does their job, and they've been doing excellent. Recently on the forums there has been an extremely high amount of QQ'ing with Gameforge not fixing bugs, but when they are fixed, there is QQ about it getting fixed (i.e Honor Party Ticket exploit) etc etc. Players should have seen this coming, but instead of preparing, they continued to abuse it and claim that "Gameforge ruined it for us!" "No way of making gold now!" "Doing this is going to scare away new-comers and lower the player base"... :dash:

I don't happen to remember how the mail spammers were dealt with in the past. It could be that each one had to be hunted down. If we have the toon name (and server--that helps a lot) it's fairly easy go get rid of them.


I don't think you understand that this problem is not the same as removing diamonds for trade from the AH. That was definitely a horse of a different color, and wasn't limited to gold sellers buying up diamonds, injecting bogus gold into the economy, then blaring their ads in world shouts. Allegedly legit players were abusing it, as well. So no, there are no plans afoot to reintroduce the AH diamond trade.

This has indeed be happening on the European servers and the accounts are being knocked down within hours of creation. SiS, EN/ES CM, has been working to come up with a solution to the problem. Whilst there's nothing amazing to report, I believe the work will pay off soon.

i don't recall qqing i d o recalling saying that the removal of dias from ah was suppose to fix this issue months down the road it seems like they are back at it temp fix i guess, yes i made a comment stating that they gm's should focus on fixing this issue other than trying to enforce bans on power leveling plain and simple if it came off as me qqing my apologies was not my intention. 300k per dias lol that's nuts either way im glad its a good thing for you the move to remove dias from the ah but just because its a good move for you does not mean it was for everyone else/other servers.

it still just sounds to me like hey hand over all your money via buying dias with real life cash but hey if issues such as this with mass spam/scamming there is nothing we can do but hey i would still like your hard earned cash though :lol: like come on there as to be something, eventhough are not nearly the same dog meat got fixed,Tosh is now being regulated with threats of bans,TB boss got fixed so it could not be mass farmed i'm sure there ism ore ex just all i can honestly coem up with at this very moment the point i'm trying to make is don't sit there and say hey there is nothing we can do cause that's to me is just like a slap to the face to everyone who spends money on this game just to have there mailboxes spammed like this, ell me something even if it not 100% accurate or even true i just want to know that this is being looked into and not being swept under the rugged or filed under lets just ignore it maybe they will go away plain and simple.i didn't mean to come off offensive just stupid when this happens and you loo k in the forums and see stupid post for regulating in tosh rubbed me the wrong way i guess, in regards to the post of what to do i will sit back and see what happens.

Uhh... I might be confused here but I am Rtp (R2p). I am not nor have I ever been Thenewslash... I would have died from being too-nub if this was the case. ;)

As Yrcanos mentioned, the managers are trying quickly to come up with a solution.

The diamonds being taken out of the AH DID solve the problem it set out to fix, removing the gold seller spam from world chat. Since then, I've seen but a mere handful of them over this entire time as opposed to ten or more per day.

They are always going to be here. It was a matter of time before they were going to find another way to get at the players besides world chat, and now they have found a way. While they are being dealt with, please, if you get one, contact support. Take a screenshot of the offending mail and contact support with it. Then, delete (or return is OK) the mail.

I'm not sure how this is even remotely funny or amusing to you. As mentioned above, they will ALWAYS find a way to circumvent the system. They are like gnats at a barbeque, and like gnats we squish them. We can't monitor all the mails on all 8 servers though, we would appreciate the report to support so we can remove them as quickly as possible until another solution is implemented.

yay 1 whole gold! this hasnt ever happened to me since I've been playing :O weird. I've gotten whispers before but that was the extent of the gold spammer harrassment.
