I wont be livid, but I would be a little disappointed. Most of our accounts have at max 3 important chars. Some are mules, so I would just have to know ahead of time to spread it out.

I think server merges are a good idea. I mean it means lower cost for GF, which is good, more population per server, which is good. The only negative is going to be the implementation. If it falls on its face, the game will. I don't really care what servers, some of our char names we don't care if we get to keep, our guild name I would like to keep, and all our guild accomplishments. Other than that I am pretty laid back about it. Some chars we wouldn't mind a rename lol

What they could do to fix the problem with merging PvP servers with PvE servers:

Create higher-level, specific, PvP zones while lower level zones are questable/farmable. This way, lower levels don't get attacked by higher levels. And we don't have one server with the population of Artemis or Reni currently, instead we would have one or two servers with a higher *visible* population, and not one extremely large PvE server and one 'meh' PvP server.

Couple of times I've seen it mentioned that Reni has a decent population in this thread. I would actually disagree with that statement. A year ago, I would have agreed. These days, and it's only my opinion, but no, I do not think so.

On the PVP servers, I believe it is really in their best interests to merge with the PVE servers. Maybe use some of the suggestions that Cike and others have been asking for concerning the existing PVP on PVE servers.

Why I want a server merge:

So I can buy gear off the AH.
So I'm not controlling the AH.
So I have server competition.
So if i feel like my guild is dead, I can join a competent endgame pug.
So I meet new endgame people.
So I feel like the game isn't dead / super unpopulated.
So I can buy stats off the AH.
So I can see new rage in worldshout
So I can see more dia sellers in worldshout.
So I can accelerate progression through other people.
So I don't have to depend on MY guild.
So I don't have a whole off-week, but instead can run with others (PoM / Hall of Earth).
So I don't have to be the only guild farming wodjin / kolanda / taren / zalk (tho i will miss my PoMs. Who misses world boss territory fighting?)

in my opinion, we could have like some form of poll per server, in which the players get to choose a single server to represent(prolly their main would be the logical choice), and then vote what other servers they would want to merge into.

that way we don't keep saying "i think x and y servers should go together, even though i don't play either and have no idea that they all hate each others guts"...ok, slight hyperbole, but you get the idea...


then GF could take that into consideration when choosing what to merge where. obviously not the only thing to think about(including current population, pvp/pve, language, etc), but it's better than matching up servers randomly...

I can promise you all, 99% of people from PvP servers would be all for switching into a PvE server if it means a larger population, which indigo+grimdal certainly would not cut it for a 'large' population. :p

an option could be pick a few servers and let them have their choice of where to go. Then they can choose a server that may not require name changes etc. Give the option to move the guild with the guild leader, and all go with.

this was pretty much my point. we are all sitting here putting words in people's mouths(myself included).

if all the indigo and grimdal peeps wanna be pve, then, by all means, why are we trying to shove them into a single "pvp" server...

@Cike - There is a difference between being willing to settle for pve and actually having a healthy pvp server. RTP is 100% correct that we would settle. i would just prefer to have the OPTION to recruit players that would like the ability to trade gear without ABLs.

Jguy i have to agree with you, all the threads that have been posted with negativity never helped also. Seems that a few individuals just wants to see the game killed, we have more than 45 active members in Disturbed on Reni. We enjoy ourselves, help others, run instances with and for them, we have a blast all the time. But as you said, people coming to the forums are turned away by those few negative people or telling the new people asking : is it worth coming back? is this game worth playing and they all go along with their negativity, those people should look in the mirror to see the uglyness they are causing.

Also if PvP servers are complaining they will have to buy ABL's for gear?? well suck it up buttercup, i've been doing that since 2009. Always tought it was unjust to PvE servers anyways ;-) FREE ABL'S for PvE servers!!! please!!!!

Sorry Zid, have to disagree that negativity never helped. Outside the basic differences of opinion, if every post was positive about the idea it would completely skew the discussion. People do have genuine and realistic concerns. While they may or may not be posting constructively is one thing but at least they are attempting to get their voices heard.

Back to the OP: IMO Server mergers are not the "golden bullet" so many players seem to think they are and I highly recommend doing some research into it before forming such strong yet unsubstantiated opinions (this is to nobody in particular - just in general) :)

Tuulikki, i know that negativity can be a good thing, i know i have done that a lot during Frogster years ;-). But go take a look at the people asking is it worth coming back, is it worth playing etc, always the same negative comments from the same 3 or 4 people. Negative can be constructive but some just do it out of spite, that is what i will not accept.

And to the person that reported my post, GM's have said that reporting a post that do not violate the forum rules would end up on a vacation time, i surely hope someone puts his/her pants on and act on this, 3 or 4 threads i have made posts in and people reported for no reason and probably by the same person. TYVM

well I cant speak for all on grimdal but I don't think we would have a problem being merged into a pve server. I for one would be more than happy just want to be able to enjoy the game again.

Hey Zid, I have seen those posts and you are right that we shouldn't be trying to scare away new players. There is a huge difference between offering constructive advice to new players on the forums and saying things that obviously are meant to scare players away. Anyone reading this that doesn't understand the difference should probably exercise their option to NOT post responses to new player threads. I know it's hard, nothing is more compelling then when you perceive someone is wrong on the internet or when you feel you have a captive audience to vent frustrations.

Back to OP: This is a pretty important topic to many players so I sincerely hope we can minimize the trolling and other juvenile behavior (see the rest of zid's post above) and focus on something that affects every player in RoM. We have an opportunity here to discuss this topic without the post getting shut down this time and I recommend we use it constructively. :)

With the pathetically low number of people actually playing this game on US servers at the moment, I see no reason for anything other than 1 Giant server.

That's the only road to take on this that makes any sense. Merging 3-4 very low population server just gets you 1 slightly-less-low populated server.

All or nothing.
